Hi! We're your new favorite neighborhood wine cafe!
We are Jarrod Jabre and Justin Wallace: two experienced restaurant, wine, and beer managers and Silver Spring neighbors, and we're opening a new establishment in Downtown Silver Spring. Locavino is a wine and beer cafe, with a full menu, as well as retail. The name (blatantly stolen from the word "locavore") reflects our mission to shine a spotlight on local beverages in the context of the global wine and beer market.
It is important to us that Locavino not only be a gathering place for our beloved neighborhood, but also be a force for good in our community. Far from just being a place to gather, we will use our resources to give back, through donations and community support, dedication to reaching an indexed living wage (with benefits!) for our staff, and wherever possible, using sustainable sourcing that respects animals and the planet.
We want you to be a part of our grand opening!
What good is being a neighborhood wine cafe, if we don't invite the neighborhood to join us from the start?
We want you to join us! By supporting this campaign, Locavino will not only become a part of this community, but YOU will become apart of Locavino. In return, you'll go to sleep with all the pride and joy that comes from being a recognized founding supporter of this new venture. Impress your friends! Amaze your enemies! Be pointedly ignored by your cats!
We have a number of goodies off to the right (---->, unless you're on mobile) that we think are wonderful opportunities to support local AND score some high-quality swag for yourself in return. It's a win-win.
Where will your money go?
We promise we won't spend all of it on drinks at McGinty's.
Instead, these funds will go to finishing off our re-styling and updating of our space, as well as ensuring that we can open with as many delicious wine and beer options as possible. The more money we make, the bigger our wine list, the better our glassware, the awesomer our awesome. If we make enough, we can even move forward with some of our long-term goals: for example, a second dishwasher (say goodbye to disposable plates and cutlery!)
Risks and challenges
The small restaurant business landscape is a hard one. However, we are confident that the support of our community and our unique concept will continue to prove that local businesses can be successful!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
