About this project
If you want double your basic pledge you'll receive an extra base game and an extra copy of all unlocked stretch goals. If you have an Early Bird pledge, extra pledges also cost $130.
Nova Aetas will see the light through a Kickstarter campaign, and for this reason we thought to reward as many backers as possible with exclusive products.
During the campaign, many of the SG and add-ons will be Kickstarter exclusives to reward those who, like you, will help us kick-off this fantastic adventure.
The kickstarter exclusive products will never be sold in stores, but will be products for you backers only, produced in limited editions and presented at various trade fairs for promotional purposes only.
Keep an eye on the exclusive logo.
Expand Nova Aetas with ours add-on.
The material you see in the image here above may change, in fact we hope to collect enough funds to improve the quality of the components and perhaps even increase the number of pieces. The miniatures are 38mm tall and will be cast in high-quality PVC. Constructions and game boards will be made from 2mm cardboard, just like the Horologium and Perilium (treath counter).
The evil leader of Vesuvio's followers is the first to have offered his body and soul to the cyclops' cause, and will be the first threat from the volcanic peaks. This robust adversary has a side mission dedicated entirely to him, so it won't be necessary to open up Vesuvio's Forge to play, but it is definitely the perfect way to introduce the characters to the adventures included in the first Nova Aetas expansion game. The Head Cultist and his set of cards is the first Exclusive KS of this campaign and will never be sold in stores; it can only be obtained at special promotional events and during trade fairs.
Get ready to up the ante with new, personalised reinforcement packs for our Pledge levels. The Nova Aetas reinforcement pack contains 9 additional miniatures and an exclusive rule to regulate the difficulty of the game based on your skills. The pack is compatible with the campaign missions and with various secondary missions. The reinforcements rule is optional and you can apply it at your discretion... but rest assured that completing a mission with this rule will have you feeling like a real hero!
1- 4 players
Modular Campaign - A linked campaign, comprising more than 15 scenarios, which will develop differently each time you play, depending on the decisions made by your party and the outcome of your adventures. The overall campaign can conclude with any of three different endings!
Innovative Activation System - The Horologium (game clock) provides an action management system based on the passage of time, providing you with dynamic and exciting game sessions.
No Game Master Required - Each enemy has its own Artificial intelligence (AI), determining its actions on the battlefield. Events and actions performed by the heroes will also affect the behaviour of enemies, causing changes in their priorities.
Let your Free Company grow - As your campaign progresses your characters will evolve by acquiring experience. Beginning with four base classes you will customize your characters, with a wealth of possibilities to choose from, as you develop them through the course of their career. With a total of 12 available classes you will have many possible combinations to make your Free Company unique. Furthermore, over the course of this Kickstarter campaign it is our goal to unlock unique miniatures for new classes!
Create your own equipment - Between missions you will use objects found on the battlefield, or the corpses of your vanquished enemies, to create fantastic new equipment for your characters!
Heroes - The first four heroes of Nova Aetas represent the backbone of your free company. Each one is specialised in a role and thanks to their skills and equipment, can confront enemies and increasingly dangerous situations.
Enemies -The adversaries you will meet during the campaign belong to three different groups, each in conflict with each other. Each group has its own objectives that it seeks to achieve by working together and using a range of different tactics... will the heroes be able to confront them and survive?
Review by Board Game Brawl
"I had the chance to experience Nova Aetas and to partake in a playtesting session. I have to admit I was really impressed. The game flows smoothly, immersing you in an environment worth of a role playing game. The three-dimensional scenery is a pleasant novelty in the sector"
Alessandro Lanzuisi - Ergo Ludo
" I had the chance to take a closer look at the miniatures when we 3d printed them. I was impressed by the quality of the sculptures and their unique character. The best fantasy Renaissance miniatures I have seen in the market. My favorites ones are the Republic of Venice and the Primaevi miniatures."
Emiliano Mancini - Maki Games

At the end of the last campaign, we were able to carefully sort through a number of recommendations that we received through lots of feedback, and we decided to change some features to make the game experience even better. Some of these changes relate to the materials, for example the four modular game boards (double-sided), others relate to artistic choices such as the restyling of all 3D scenic elements, others still relate to the rules, like the now completely self-sufficient use of enemies (players no longer need to roll a dice in favour of the NPC). We'll give you more details in the next updates.
The setting of Nova Aetas is an important part of the game and the artists have determined to get a great blend of fantasy and real-world Renaissance elements. With this concept in mind, each model has been designed with the goal of giving a subtly darker fantasy appearance that is still recognizable as Renaissance Italy. These highly detailed models will really bring the world of Nova Aetas to life!
Here you can see the Nova Aetas miniatures next to models by other brands to give you a better idea of the detail, the proportions and the dimensions.
...and between our miniatures
I'm sure many of you already know, one of the best ways to help our campaign is to set your profile image (avatar) to a Nova Aetas one!
To set your avatar: right click the image below, after the download is complete unzip the file. Choose a character and go to https://www.kickstarter.com/settings, click under the picture and navigate to the folder you saved the avatar to and select it.
Congrats! You have just boosted the chances of us being able to add even more cool stuff to the game!
We suggest you use the 220x220 images, as they are higher resolution, and will look prettier. However, if the forum you are trying to use only supports small avatars, you can also use the smaller ones.
Nova Aetas is in the very advanced stages of development. At the moment, we've completed the rulebook and developed the campaign. The secondary missions are ready, just like all the graphics. All the miniatures are ready to go, and we've already made test resin castings for almost all of the models. Vesuvio's Forge and many SGs are almost ready to go into production. We've already identified and begun to work with the publishing house that will eventually produce the game. We have established the shipping methods and costs.
What do we still need to do?
Immediately after the campaign there will be an intensive period of playtests on the missions and materials, which will be released during the Kickstarter campaign. The publishing house has assured us that the PVC they use to cast the miniatures is high-quality.
Once the campaign is finished, we'll have about three months to complete the playtests, making the most of the Chinese New Year. Immediately afterwards, by May, we'll start the production of the miniatures to avoid eventual problems and delays. Between June and July, we'll approve all materials that need to go into production. The factory has requested about 3-4 months to complete production. We have a month to deal with any type of issue that may arise during the game's production.
The Ludus Magnus Studio is an indie company, it was created with the aim of developing a series of games with distinctive gameplay, which we hope will provide an all-new gaming experience. We began working on 'Nova Aetas' four years ago and in that time the game has grown to become what it is we proudly present in this KS. Nova Aetas is very precious to us and so we have been very dilligent in collaborating with several game associations to playtest the game but we are always looking for new points of view and good feedback so if you are interested please feel free to contact us via our Facebook page. In everyday life we are a team of gamers who love to play games the whole day long. The upshoot of this is that is that we have amassed something like 50.000 hours of play time over twenty years of experience. We are three gaming brothers, sharing glory and defeat around the game board ; three creative minds always at work with our different skills:
Fritz -CEO of Ludus Magnus Studio, is a lawyer, financial broker. In Las Vegas is known for his work as a consultant for the opening of many malls in the city. among his hobbies there are skiing and golf. Like a patron supports projects by young entrepreneurs.
Luca - Archaeologist , the one who digged in the actual Ludus Magnus, he is taking care of public relations, contacts, multimedia and game development. Along with his archaeological activity he has worked for several years in the sales department of the Games-Workshop Italia and for a well-known italian chain stores of this sector. In the meanwhile he organized many official competitions for the games Privateer Press e GW.
Andrea - The artist, after studying at the Roman School of Comics, he is the head of the creative area who develops new ideas making concepts become the real thing. He worked for four years at GW Italy where he was responsible for the events area and he was also part of the organizing team of the Italian Games Day. He has always worked in the game sector by training staff for specific stores.
Daniele - The mathematician, works with statistics, accounting, and the supplier relationship. He always is looking for original game mechanics, he is naturally inquisitive and look for a way to make his games ever more originals. He is responsible for the rules of Nova Aetas which develops in teamwork with his co-developers. He served as beta tester for many board games and worked for in the games sector for a prestigious Italian chain stores.
Vincenzo - IT Systems Engineer, has always loved RPGs and new technologies. It combines these passions in different projects such as the construction of MUDs (Multi User Dungeon game system). In LMS works as IT manager.
The desire to create a high quality game has led us to collaborate with some of the most talented artists. Through this significant investment we are certain to produce top quality artwork and miniatures. Ludus Magnus Studio is very thankful to our art team for the wonderful job they are doing. Although we're an indie game developer, we didn't want to create a sub-standard product:
Claudia Fairysh Varesi - graphics - all the Nova Aetas graphic material passes through her hands; every paper, map, card has been touched up by her. She is collaborating with other games companies, looking after their graphics, for example "Zagor" by Ergo Ludo Editions.
Antonio De Luca - Illustrator - the title of illustrator doesn't quite fit the bill for this character, who is a genuine master. He has worked on everything you could possibly imagine, advertising, books, cartoons, but above all games and video games. He teaches at the Academy. His most important collaboration in our sector was with Fantasy Flight games. He's now working on an important project with Warner Bros. He is the illustrator of the Vesuvius' Forge cover.
Daniel Comerci - illustrator - eclectic both in terms of his works and the fields in which he creates them. He has often participated in game initiatives, such as warage, and is now grappling with a personal project on "Fate". He is the author of the Nova Aetas cover.
Oscar Cafaro - illustrator - We only got a taste of his talent because Ubisoft took him away too soon. Suffice it to take a look at his gallery to get an idea of his calibre. He was the first to adhere to our project and is the author of all the first concepts.
Andrea Tentori Montalto - illustrator - quick and reliable, he has done an enormous amount of work on the game materials, such as the game boards and the constructions. He works as an illustrator for different companies, and is the cover page author of various fantasy books such as Dragonero (a famous Italian comics).
Roberto Akeiron Pitturru - illustrator - a remarkable illustrator, and a remarkable person. He helped us a lot and his patience was priceless. He was one of the first to jump on-board and is the illustrator of the Crossbowmen for example. He has worked in the games sector for many years, illustrating rulebooks for games such as Sine Requie or Pathfinder.
Daniele Danko Angelozzi - sculptor - we are standing before a true master. He is a digital sculptor, and teaches his techniques to many followers. He is the frontman of wacom and constantly works with large video game companies. He collaborates with Panini Comics and other comics publishing companies, creating miniature characters such as Rat-Man. In our sector, he has worked for Prodos Games, creating Warzone miniatures.
Giovanni Rosko Roschini - sculptor - this genius has exceptional foresight. He is the last to arrive in our team, but he's already found his feet. He has created various sculptures and is responsible for all renderings. The first monster in the game will be thanks to him.
Giovanni Nino3th Mauro - sculptor - another fabulous character. Like Danko, he works on numerous video games, and has also participated in the creation of various Warzone pieces. He has a true-to-life creative studio to stimulate him, serving as an outlet for his creations.
Valerio Korax Carbone - sculptor - teaches digital sculpting at the Academy; that in itself should give you an idea of his skills. He works in the video games sector and creates 3D elements for TV. For Nova Aetas, among other things, he also sculpted the centaur.
Luisa Marzullo – translator – joined the team towards the end of the last campaign and is responsible for making Nova Aetas accessible to the English-speaking world. Luisa works as a professional translator, collaborating with companies in a range of sectors including engineering, business marketing, tourism and children's toys, as well as an interpreter at international trade fairs in Italy, Turkey and Germany. She looks after the English translation of all Nova Aetas PR and technical materials.
We are working to keep the operation cost as down as possible. Defining costs is not possible yet as they depend on our financially campaign but to encourage our ( project’s) potential supporters we are able to publish some information about prices:
Supporters U.S.A. from 0$ to 10$
Supporters Europe – Canada from 15$ to 20$
Supporters the rest of the world from 20$ to 40$
