Several years ago human settlers discovered a marsh covered valley which they knew would provide fertile crop land if only the marsh could be drained. The settlers dammed the river and may have damned themselves! The diverted river has awoken the cliffs themselves. Strange rumblings in the earth and smoke from the cliff tops are sure signs of trouble. The residents of Fertile Valley need some heroes, can you save Fertile Valley before it’s too late?
This adventure is written for the Labyrinth Lord (LL) game system compatible with BECMI or B/X with Fifth Edition rules of the world’s most popular tabletop RPG included.
It is an adventure for 4-6 characters of levels 1-3. This module has a definite "Old School Flavor" written by Chris Clark who worked directly with Gary Gygax.
To add-on additional print copies of Those Dam Goblins to any level ALREADY receiving print or mail products, add $12 to your backer level and we will include an extra copy.
Digital only backer levels excluded from this offer.
This adventure is already written and edited. It had a short run in the OSRIC / 1E setting. Lloyd Metcalf added some new encounters, new art, and we hope to bring this adventure to FULL COLOR with your help.
"The trick is to bring the adventure to full color, but keep that BECMI feel." ~Lloyd M
To do this, Lloyd painted the cover image in acrylics on canvas in a style that feels like the classic 80's adventures. Interior art will (hopefully) be printed in color, but not employ background images behind the text. Chris has written a fun adventure with an old school flair, we want to bring that flavor to 2018 without crushing the 80's.
This is just a Dam fun adventure!
We have worked hard to keep Chris' original vision for the adventure in tact while upgrading to 5E, and dialing back to Basic in the same breathe.... And it works!
All mechanics for both systems are in one book in an easy to follow format.
The cover art for Those Dam Goblins is complete, layout may alter slightly before going to print.
The 16x20 acrylic painting on canvas that is the main cover art is in process to be professionally mounted and framed by a trusted friend who owns a frame shop here in Portland, Maine.
Dam Ink Wash Art
The Ink Wash rewards will vary in size, dimension and content, but generally will be landscape in feel and intent. All will be signed, mounted, and matted by Lloyd Metcalf.
That Dam Lloyd Metcalf?
Lloyd Metcalf started his RPG illustration career with Luke Gygax's Lands of Okkorim adventures. From there found a place with Lesser Gnome, and soon was illustrating adventures for many people in the OSR gaming industry including some of his TSR heroes (Chris Clark included).
Before long Fail Squad Games was born and full-on game supplement production was underway.
Those Dam Goblins is our 11th Kickstarter! The other 10 have all delivered on time or early for all backers.
That Dam Chris Clark
Chris Clark began his “professional” gaming career by running events at Gen Con in 1977. He formed Inner City Games Designs in 1981 to publish the game Inner City RPG while attending the University of Illinois. Since then, Chris has written more than 70 published role-playing, miniature, card and board games, including Fuzzy heroes and War PIG’s and he is still writing them for Inner City Games Designs today. He wrote two generic multi-system adventures with the assistance of Gary Gygax in the late 90s; A Challenge of Arms and The Ritual of Golden Eyes.
These endeavors transformed what was a long term friendship into an ongoing business relationship, when Chris formed Hekaforge Productions with Gary Gygax in 1998, they launched Gary’s newest role playing creations at the time, the Legendary Adventure and the Legendary Earth. Several of the adventures written by Chris for the system were later reproduced by Troll Lord Games for the Legendary Adventures. Chris also worked for Eldritch Enterprises and authored much of the "Dark" series of modules as well as the entire "Forest of Deceit" arc of adventures.
Chris is currently writing the Lands of Igpay adventure series, The Lance RPG, and has plans to finally finish the Castle Wolfmoon series of adventure modules. "It just seems there are never enough hours in the day," he said when asked, "...but that's one rule I have found I can't change!"
Interlude Adventures are short, 2 page side-quests three hole punched and ready for your trapper keeper to be dropped in anywhere you can imagine.
The Crypt on Keeper Hill is a 5E Interlude for level 3 characters, perfect for use after finishing up Those Dam Goblins.
Risks and challenges
This is our 11th Kickstarter. The 10 before it all shipped on time or early. Fail Squad Games operates with a K.I.S.S. approach. With minimal add-ons, extras, and "fluff" we manage to get what our backers want in their hands, when we promise it. This DAM project should be no different.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
