The Lands of Lunacy
Welcome to the Lands of Lunacy setting, a place created from chaos and consisting of limitless dimensions connected to limitless planes.
Herein, domineering lords rule domains interconnected by webs of lunar gates surrounded by the utter madness of the Chaos Void. The price of entry may be your sanity, or even your life. The rewards are immeasurable, and every domain brings new possibilities, rewards, and challenges.
You may never be the same.
You may never return.
The Lands of Lunacy are the solution ALL GMs have been searching for on those nights when the lunacy of our real world clashes with the gaming world.
You have about half your players show up, a number of cancellations have been called in - what do you do?
Have the players who made it to the table roll new characters?
Start a different quest?
Do you pretend the characters of the players not present wander along like zombies with nothing to add except their attacks?
No - You play those characters present in the Lands of Lunacy.
The Lands of Lunacy operates in such a way that characters can carry on great and earth-shattering adventures, without hardly twitching the clock or altering the current campaign.
The Lands are also the ideal setting for GMs who wish to try out world-shaking adventures but don't want to risk their own campaign world.
A great tool for when the wizard of the party needs to take their wizard tests.
The perfect solution when a new character(s) wants some 1 on 1 play to catch up to party levels.
A fun addition to convention play with unique roleplay challenges in adventures that can be short, long, or even altered mid-game to suit the GM needs.
Stone of Order
In the sample adventure included, the key magical item of the quest is a mystical Stone of Order. Pyramid stone of unknown power.
You can get a Stone of order with your adventure and setting guide if you act fast (Limited Quantities). You not only bring the lunacy to the table.... but the actual magical item from the quest at hand!!
*Actual color varies depending on your lunar gate and plane of origin
How does all this fit into your world?
The Lands of Lunacy isn't a world that has a single map or area. It is a setting that exists amid the Chaos Void; a swirling chaos outside the known planes of existence where matter, antimatter, time and nothingess collide. Pocket dimensions of infinite number and possibilities are linked to the planes through mysterious lunar gates.
Why the Stone of Order?
The first part of the setting guide is the game mechanics, explanation, and how the Lands of Lunacy exist and interact with worlds. The second part is the introductory adventure "The Witch's Trial". In the adventure, the Stone of Order is the key magic item of the adventure.
This is the first Fail Squad Games adventure that includes the featured magical item of the quest. It is a small piece of immersion that may add to your gaming table.
No matter HOW or where you use the Lands of Lunacy setting, it will pull at character sanity as they struggle through infinite lands created from the Chaos Void - and struggle to keep their minds in tact!
