Treasured Music Lovers, without a doubt, this is a tough business. It's a rare and wonderful thing when an opportunity arises to propel your music forward. Brand new songs have blossomed this last year from an invite earlier on Delbert's Cruise by Kevin McKendree (keyboardist with Delbert McClinton, Brian Setzer, Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy, etc.) when he said "You should come out to the Rockhouse in Nashville and record" "I have no money" I says. "Just come out" Kevin says. Well, when I got to Nashville, he worked me like a rental car till all hours, just goin' at it like kids with no adult supervision! Yeah baby, we got 13 new songs too... only thing is... "I have no money" These fella's have been so kind to share their time and brilliance. I'm honored and inspired.
All we need now is your help. The cost to make this happen is the cost of four musicians for five days in the studio, the studio cost per hour, producer, mixdown (which can take as long as the tracking), and of course... mastering and manufacturing! The $10,000. goal is conservative so we hope to go beyond the goal.
John Hiatt's newest CD just came out of this very room... with this Grammy winning very cool Kevin guy right here!! The vibe is sooooo good, and it's all Kevin's fault. "I'm Lovin' It" !!!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge here will be scheduling. Once Kevin has available time we're ready to go!
We have done the pre-production and are experienced enough to move right along in the studio. Mixing, and mastering, again, are subject to everyone's schedules. And then we send it off to be manufactured. That will be the shortest part of the project. It will be hard to determine a specific time, but once we get in the studio it will move fairly quickly.
Costs up front are:
- Studio time
I've set a goal of $10,000 to be achievable and get us rolling on this train, but doesn't cover publicist fees and Kickstarter fees as well.
I'm ol' school and much better live than with social media but we'll keep you posted along this journey and just can't thank you enough for your kindness.
Love you more than toast,
