About

What is Counterculture?

A counterculture offers an alternative way of being. It often challenges or rejects the mainstream.

Create your own movement. Stop consuming the culture that is made for you.
This book explores those who have created and participated in countercultures over the last 60 years.

Be part of an  amazing project! Join a community of artistic and socially engaged individuals. We need your boots on the ground for this one.

For writers: Option to contribute your own chapter and see it published.(see £15 pledge) To read extracts from the book see the Project updates section on Kickstarter for this project.

Punk - Occupy - Rock n Roll - Brit Art - Girlpower - Zumba - how do new trends emerge? Who starts them? How do they take off? Who changed Britain? Visionaries?  Artists? Activists? We did it. People did it. This book offers insight into the many strands which combined to create modern Britain and offers some ideas for changing things for the better.

Why we need this book - to remind people how counter-cultures are born, become movements and change our world. Could you spark the next change?

Risks and challenges

We already have most of our contributors lined up - but will consider including the best new chapter by one of our backers.

This project will go ahead in the summer 2015, with successful funding.

We already have distribution, reps and marketing lined up to make it a success. We will cover the cost of this - your help covers the cost of printing.
