About this project
Five year old Miriam is feeling sad, so her wise old cat Eversees leads her through the forest to meet the Magic Tree "who heals the young and old." When Miriam shares her troubled heart, the tree shows her the love all around her, reminding her that she can choose to focus on love instead of fear. Her sadness melts away when she spends just a few minutes thinking about all the love in her life. A valuable tale for all ages, it teaches children and reminds adults that we always have the power to choose our perspective.

Eversees and the Magic Tree is an illustrated story in verse that inspires and empowers people of all ages. It will be a high quality hardcover book, printed on recycled paper.
Your donation will fund the printing of the first edition of the book, the creation of the illustrations, and incidental costs like creating the e-book, copyrighting, ISBNs and barcodes, legal fees, etc. This couldn't happen without your help! THANK YOU!!!

What will happen once the book is published?
Have you ever had an idea that felt like it had a life of its own and all you could do was give it a home - on paper, in song, in action? One day the story of Eversees and the Magic Tree just started flowing out onto the page, and it was all I could do to keep up. That was in 2008, and I wasn't quite sure what to do with it, so I tucked it away. Over the years, the story would come out and ask "Are you ready to publish me yet?" Each year, I would make some small changes - adjust a rhyme, add a line, remove a section, etc. My favorite "a-ha" moment was when the ending appeared! It's six years later and Eversees and The Magic Tree is ready to meet the world... I'm so excited to share it with you!
Below you can see the places I've lived that have been home to the crafting of Eversees and the Magic Tree.
THANK YOU for donating to this project and for sharing it with your friends! You're helping us reach children everywhere who need to hear these messages:
1. You can choose how you see the world and therefore create the world you live in! The more you focus on the positive, the more it will invade your mind and your life!
2. Go out into nature! Stop what you're doing, go outside, and listen for the whispers of wisdom that accompany the natural activity of an ecosystem.
3. Sometimes help comes from a very unexpected person, place, thing, cat or tree.
4. It's okay to be sad, but when you have had enough, YOU are the one who can change your outlook. Just spend some time focusing on the love; the positive hopeful and exciting things around you. Soon you won't be able to stop yourself from smiling!
Wishing you magic, happiness, and the ability to see both when your mind is clouded.
Risks and challenges
Once Eversees and the Magic Tree is fully funded, we'll be putting finishing touches on the illustrations, formatting the book, and sending it off to the printer!
Possible risks include:
NOT MAKING OUR GOAL - this means the book wouldn't be published. By pre-ordering your copy, making donations, and sharing this campaign, YOU are helping us ensure that we make our goal. Spread the word!
PROBLEMS PRINTING - I am lucky to be working with a wonderful and reliable printer who turns out very high quality books and comes very highly recommended.
PROBLEMS ILLUSTRATING - We are well on our way to having all the illustrations finished! Working with a highly talented and reliable artist has been like a dream come true - we're both 100% committed to producing an exceptional book for you!
PROBLEMS ANTICIPATING PROBLEMS - I am super lucky to have the support of a successful and experienced independently published author in this genre to guide me through the process of publishing a children's picture book! I also have many years of varied experience in project management and execution, which are proving to be very useful. :)
I am allowing ample time for each step and anticipating possible bumps in the road. If everything goes super smoothly, the book will be ready to distribute by the end of October. If there are holdups, it could take another month. Any major changes to our schedule will be shared with you, our backers, via e-mail updates.
