Every professional woman knows how impossible it is to find workwear that is feminine, affordable, and appropriate all at the same time. Add to this struggle everyday wardrobe malfunctions like spills from your lunch break, sweat stains during a presentation, or unintended bra exposure at a meeting. The struggle is real, but it doesn’t have to be anymore. Enter: The Unstainable® Workwear Collection by Elizabeth & Clarke.
After we raised $250,000 for our Unstainable® Shirt campaign (and successfully delivered 3,000 orders on-time), we knew that this idea of functional, beautiful, and affordable shirting really resonated with women all over the world. From there, it was a natural extension to suiting. With this Kickstarter, we are launching our first collection of workwear: a pant, skirt, dress, and blazer that truly meet all of your needs. All of the pieces are mix-and-match, washer and dryer-safe, and are cut to flatter many different body types and sizes. In addition, each piece has functional pockets, and the pant has adjustable length hems. Of course, these chic styles use our Unstainable® technology and our new Sweat-Proof™ technology to keep you both stain- and odor-free throughout your busy day. With The Unstainable® Workwear Collection, you will never again have to curse at your wardrobe on Monday morning with that dreaded question, “What am I going to wear?"
The struggle WAS real.

We created the fabric for the Unstainable® Workwear Collection using nanotechnology, it repels virtually any water-based or oil-based liquid spill. Using a proprietary garment finish that works at the molecular level, the finish zeros in on fabric fibers using tiny ‘whiskers’ that are 100,000 times smaller than a grain of sand. The treatment keeps water and oil-based liquids suspended above the fabric, never allowing stains to touch the fibers. Think about how a flower repels the morning dew, the water just beads up and slides right off the surface. Using this same process found in nature, the Unstainable® treatment attaches to each and every garment’s fiber—resulting in incredible resistance to stains.
We integrated Sweat-Proof™ technology into the lining of every skirt, dress, and blazer. After working closely with our chemist for a year, we developed Sweat-Proof™ technology that moves moisture in only one direction – away from the skin side of the fabric to the middle layer of the garment. From there, the moisture evaporates, leaving the lining and the outside of the garment completely dry with no sweat stains. This new feature also provides odor protection. The nanotechnology embedded in the lining’s fibers neutralize odor by killing 99.9% of all odor-causing bacteria.
It is so tiny that you can't touch it and you can't see it -- not even with a magnifying glass. In fact, our tiny Unstainable® fibers are 100,000 times smaller than a grain of sand.
Our Unstainable® treatment has been tested using AATCC standards and includes raw materials that can be derived from renewable, farm-grown sources. The finish is applied at the molecular level allowing complete breathability of the fabric; the Unstainable® fibers are smaller than a human cell, so they don’t clog the fabric weave. This means 100% stain repellency without changing the feel or comfort of our signature Ponte de Roma knits.
Our team has been diligently working together for two years to bring this Collection to life. We have a diverse set of skills and backgrounds in retail, supply chain management, marketing, logistics, chemical science, and design. Over the past five years, we have designed, manufactured, sold, and shipped over 50,000 shirts to customers all over the world. We are confident we can do the same with the Unstainable® Workwear Collection.
We have spent two years developing this Collection and every piece is in place to begin production immediately after our Kickstarter survey deadline on June 30th.
To ensure that you get your rewards on time, we have limited them to something that we know how to make: womenswear! No stickers, bookmarks, or fancy wallpapers -- just beautiful Unstainable® garments.
We are so excited to bring The Unstainable® Workwear Collection to you, and we want to offer you even more! We created stretch goals in the hopes of expanding to plus sizes 16-22 and adding exquisite colors, including Royal Navy and Classic Red. By raising enough money to reach these stretch goals, we can make The Unstainable® Workwear Collection even more rewarding.
All Unstainable® workwear styles are machine-washable and dryer-safe, which means no more expensive and inconvenient trips to the dry cleaner. And even with regular washing, your garments will remain Unstainable® for the life of the fabric.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing: We have been working with the same mill and factory that will produce the Unstainable® Workwear Collection for over three years. We have a strong relationship with them, and they have never shipped an order late to us during our entire relationship. However, they have a maximum capacity of 10,000 garments during a normal production cycle of 60-90 days. If we receive orders beyond this amount, then it will take an additional 60-90 days to produce any remaining orders.
Air Freight: Once production is completed, we will air freight the garments into the United States in October. This is an off-peak time of the year for incoming freight into the US, so we do not anticipate any issues. However, if there are poor weather conditions or a transportation strike of any kind -- ocean or air -- it could delay the arrival of the freight.
Fulfillment: We have been working with our fulfillment partner, iD Commerce, for two years. The have the ability to ship thousands of orders each week. With a bit of advanced planning, we are more than confident in their ability to fulfill all orders. However, because of the high-touch nature of pick, pack and fulfillment, there are typically a very small percentage (less than 0.3%) of errors. For example, maybe you ordered a size 4 but you accidentally received a size 14. While we will do our absolute best to fix any fulfillment errors (at our cost), please be aware that they may occur.
Shipping: We will ship all domestic orders via USPS Parcel Select. For orders shipping to Canada, we will deliver via Canada Post. For orders shipping to any other international destination, we will ship via USPS Priority International. While we typically do not have many issues with USPS, please be aware that they do occur at a low rate. About 1% of orders typically have a shipping error or issue -- either on behalf of the receiver (bad address, moved, etc.) or on behalf of the shipper (package lost, destroyed in transit, etc.) We will insure all packages on your behalf and we will purchase postage that includes a tracking number to help resolve any issues that may occur. If your order is ‘undeliverable' we will reach out to you to update your address and re-ship. Please note however, once a package has left our warehouse, we no longer have control over it. In the rare case where a package is lost, stolen, or destroyed, we will file an insurance claim with USPS on your behalf, but we will not cover the cost of replacement.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
