About this project
Somewhere between the memories of childhood and the reality of today we’ve lost our sense of wonder. We stopped seeing clouds as fairytales and forests as magical kingdoms.
We take pictures of things that are, not things that could be.
This book is an attempt to change that, by fusing the realism of photography with the imagination of the digital to tell a story about what it means to visualize memories.
‘A Lovely Tale’ will be a photo book that imaginatively recreates the fairytale of childhood using a combination of photography and computer generated imagery.
The book will contain a collection of photographs that will seek to visualize the essence of a time and place in a relatable and photorealistic way. The Rewards: Visual Style
'A Lovely Tale' is the product of the past year and half of research and inspiration and creativity, where I've worked hard to create a project I'm really proud of. And I want to be able to share it with you in a tangible way. By joining in on the Kickstarter fun, you'll not only be helping me succesfully complete the final project for my Master's Degree, but you'll also be getting some signed original art by yours truly!
The funds themselves will cover the costs of printing and distribution to your fine self (along with other contributors). A few copies will also be sent to people who've inspired me and people I'd like to work with in the future, as a way to officially say 'Hello, this is me'. Any money raised in excess will go towards printing and sharing further copies - share the love and all that jazz.
The book will be 160mmx160mm and printed on 120gsm recycled paper and perfect bound to create a lovely little book perfect for flicking through over and over. The A3 posters will be printed on 300gsm white fleck recycled paper.
Special Thanks To:Aoife Malone and Matt McGrath for beautifully acting out my vision as models.
