January - Ringing in the New Year

Dear backers,

I am pleased to announce that we have completed one of the main Kickstarter promises.

Unsung Story has a full original soundtrack.. and it's amazing.

Nearly a year ago, I had the honor of spending a fun evening with Hitoshi Sakimoto discussing why music was so important to Unsung Story. Since then, we have been exchanging notes to outline each aspect of the world that might influence his score. In December, all 26 tracks were recorded and fully mastered at Basiscape in Tokyo.

This month, I'm going to keep it simple.

I can't share everything, but let's ring in the New Year with the first minute of the main theme.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Sincerely, Matthew Scott

Also, I didn't pay up for a physical copy of the soundtrack during the campaign, but if there's a way to add it on, I'd love to do that. At the very least, I'll be buying it digitally if I can! I hope you'll consider offering it in a lossless format if/when you sell it.

This is a really stunning sample. I really love it! Thanks so much for picking up this project, Little Orbit. Can't wait to hear and see more. Happy New Year!

I'm so proud to be a part of this project. Thank you, Matt and all the rest of the hardworking staff at Little Orbit! Your efforts over the past year on this project in particular have been so appreciated by so many of us!

@Unco - our contract required that Sakimoto compose all the major themes and at least 50% of the music overall, but it allowed for his other Basiscape composers to help out on minor themes.

@Joshua - we have never produced a CD or OST before, but the mastered files are all full lossless WAV files, and we'll be using a real replication studio to generate the physical version (similar to what we do for our retail packaged games).

Sakimoto's music is probably what I'm looking forward to most from this project. Hopefully the story and gameplay will be great as well.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing Matthew!
I have been listening over and over again to the very soft 1 minute part tune.

    17. Unco Lober on

Hey, that's alright. Who's the composer? Is it Hitoshi Sakimoto or somebody else at Basiscape? How many tracks out of those 26 were composed by Sakimoto?

At least the SJWs can't ruin this.

Sounds great and seems to fit very nicely! I'm slowly finding myself hopeful that this project could wind up being a surprising good game risen from the ashes of the original campaign. Keep up the obvious hard work and happy New Year!

The music immediately made me think of FF Tactics and I got goosebumps. Very exciting!

Love it so far! I cannot wait!

I hope this music makes the art look less like a phone game and more like the FFT successor I actually backed.

    25. Matthew J. Boone on

Sakimoto-san definitely already hitting me hard with this! Thank you for sharing and hope this will be a great 2019!

Good stuff - thanks for the New Year gift :) Let's hope for a great 2019!

    27. Joshua on

Well it certainly sounds like Sakimoto. Now that the soundtrack is done, can we ask if the soundtrack CD is going to be a real, pressed CD? Made from an actual lossless source?
Or is it going to be a CDR? And hopefully not upsampled Mp3s....

    28. Bill on

That is great news! Here's to a great year!

I am becoming cautiously optimistic. I love the sound bite, and I for one am a fan of the art. Please keep it coming!

      What a lovely milestone! Congrats.

This gorgeous and elegant soundtrack is going to clash so badly with the awful Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic of the game.
