Very good question! We have been able to make a nice name for ourselves in the mobile realm, but some may see jumping to additional platforms risky for such a company. However Playdek has strong roots in developing for consoles, with some of our team members working on games as far back as PlayStation 1 titles. Playdek choose to enter the mobile realm when first created because it was the ideal area to develop the types of hobby games we wanted to make, however we always developed our programs with the intent of moving to other platforms when the time was ready. And with this opportunity to work with Yasumi Matsuno it seems that the time has come.Last updated:
The Unsung Story timeline covers many chapters of the sprawling war-torn history of the fantasy world of Rasfalia. The central plot follows the struggles of heroes who fought in the Seventy-Seven Years War between great kingdoms and empires.
The story for each hero will constitute an episode, with each episode being comprised of many stages of game play. Each episode will depict a part of the Seventy Seven Years’ War from the vantage point of various protagonists. Some episodes will span a single year, while others may take place over a decade or more.
You will play as one of the Unsung Heroes in this war, one who helped shape the course of the war but is not fully recognized by history. It will be up to you to play through these different chapters in order to uncover the mystery and truth behind the events that transcribed in Rasfalia.Last updated:
If the campaign goal is met we will be developing this game for PC, Mac, Windows Tablets, Linux, iOS and Android.Last updated:
Wait, so are you just going to port your mobile game to PC, Mac, Windows Tablets, and Linux if this campaign is successful?
No, actually the opposite will happen!
When we originally announced this partnership with Yasumi Matsuno back in September the idea was to bring it out for iOS and Android devices, however we saw a lot of people asking us to bring this out for PC and Mac (as well as PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS).
In order to do this we turned to Kickstarter, however if this funding is met you aren't going to see an obvious phone game trying to make it's way into the PC/Mac realm. The game will be fully developed for agnostic platform play, meaning that the same game will be received on all platforms. Since we will be able to bring the game out to PC/Mac/Windows Tablets, we will be able to create a much deeper game then we would have if we were just keeping the game on iOS and Android, so in fact the iOS and Android users will be able to receive the benefits as well for this successful campaign since the main platform of the game will shift.
We uphold quality to the fullest and we will not allow the game to suffer due to multiple platforms. If we are successful, the players playing on their iOS device will have the same exact game the PC players have. Also by meeting this campaign goal we will be able to add more to the game such as a deeper story line, more content, and more creative individuals to make this a better game.
Since we had already planned on bringing it out to iOS and Android we aren't going to go back on that, it just means if we are successful you will see a richer game reach you. But the purpose of the Kickstarter campaign is to be able to develop the game for the platforms people requested.Last updated:
We will provide a DRM Free copy of the game for those of you who would prefer that. We also intend to pursue Steam Greenlight when the project is close to completion, so you will be able to choose the best method of distribution for you.Last updated:
