We love adventuring outdoors with friends and family. We also love hammocks, but traditional hammocks are limited to where you can use them.
This is the problem we set out to solve after many frustrating (and treeless) camping adventures in the amazing deserts of southern Utah.
Our goal was to design a portable solution that would allow outdoor adventurists to use their hammocks anywhere in the world. Whether it be a desert, beach, music festival, hotel balcony, bedroom, or your very own backyard.
As development began, we discovered many hammock-lovers shared the same problems we faced such as unpredictable weather, storage needs, bugs and animals. This gave us the idea of putting a protective tent around a relaxing hammock. And so, the Tammock was born. You can now take your hammock adventure anywhere.
Not a tent. Not a hammock. It's a TAMMOCK.

WHO WE ARE
LIT Outdoors started in 2016 when Daniel Goldfinger (Geography) & Nick Bierwolf (Mechanical Engineering) met as students at the University of Utah. Both had a passion for hammocks, and designing functional outdoor products that could be used around the world in different settings.
As development progressed, so did need for additional collaborators. In 2017-18, LIT Outdoors added wordsmith, Abraham Tinklepaugh as Creative Director, and Riley Hughes to work on Design & Development, one of the first students in the Utah State University Outdoor Product Design program.

Risks and challenges
This is our first Kickstarter campaign, but we understand there is bound to be initial reluctance about backing LIT Outdoors. But we want you to know we've been developing our company and product with everything we have for almost 3 years.
Through it all, we've learned a colossal amount about what it means to develop a business and manufacture a product. We've also come to know how to develop and manage a supply chain, and what it takes to market and finance a new idea. Learning is part of what we do best.
We've been refining our supply chain for more than two and half years, spending months of 2018 in Asia working alongside and building trust with our suppliers. As with any manufactured product, there are always hurdles and complications to overcome, and our development has been no different.
We had supplier and quality control problems with early suppliers and their manufacturing processes, which led us back to the drawing board and the meeting room several times. Ultimately, we found new suppliers in Asia who could fulfill our highest-quality requirements, and we couldn't be more excited.
After months of going back and forth with our manufacturers, and several prototype iterations, we now feel able to deliver the best possible product experience.
We also understand the inherent risks of global business. Political, environmental and economic factors can impact ability to deliver products globally. Sometimes shipments are held up at customs, causing fulfillment delays beyond our control. Sometimes quality control tests don't pass.
Possibility of a one or two-week delay are real. But that doesn't change our #1 priority, which is delivering the highest quality product. Neither quality nor delivery times can be compromised without affecting the other.
