RoboRoast's mission is to get you to have the best coffee experience of your life.
The coffee you are drinking right now sucks. It sucks for two main reasons:
- Roasted coffee beans are partially stale after 2 weeks
- Ground coffee looses most of its flavor within 20 minutes
RoboRoast began its journey as a project during the Maker StartupWeekend at the TechShop on March 2nd 2012. Our team (Chris McCann, Luke Iseman, Michael Nugent, Nick Kwan, and Steven Kinnear) came together through our passion and love for great coffee to fix the above problems.
RoboRoast is a home coffee roasting machine that is designed to be completely automated from beans to coffee, use raw coffee beans to guarantee freshness, and as simple as the push of a button.
(As an aside raw coffee beans only cost $2-$5 a pound. Better coffee + saving money = #winning)
Our first prototype was fabricated at the TechShop using a popcorn popper, arduino, servo motors, and other various component parts. We're now working on our second prototype based on what we learned so far & making it customer ready (aka no pointy edges :) )
What's In It For Me?
Great question. Take a look at the right to see all the awesome things we're offering.
Being part of the maker community lets us print sweet things like shirts, mugs, and burlap bags. + For everyone who gives enough to get a Roboroast you are going to throughly enjoy the taste of a real good cup of coffee.
