WE ARE RELAUNCHING SOON!
Linq Smart Vents Is Relaunching Soon!
We reached our goal in a few short days...so why is it cancelled?
Great question! The short of it is we got some great feedback from our backers and want to make the system even better! The long of it is in the updates tab. Thank you so much for your support!! We will relaunch soon! Until then, check out our website, www.linqhome.com and sign up for updates :D Go Linq!!
Linq Home in the News
CNET: "Smart vents are on the rise...Linq's vent add[s] zoned temperature control to your home for much less than a full zoned HVAC system."
Electronic House: "Linq Smart Heating Vent Is Better than a Programmable Thermostat"
Comfort Made Simple - Every Room, Everyday
Linq’s mission is to introduce a system to transform your home into a smarter, more comfortable and more efficient home. Linq Home Smart Vents is building a retrofitted wireless smart vent system. This innovative system connects homeowners and renters with their homes via app-enabled devices.
We highly recommend replacing all vents for the most satisfaction.
When you replace each vent, it is easier to control your comfort settings. When you replace all the vents you will see greater energy savings as the system starts to pay for itself.
Linq Home is redefining traditional heating and cooling systems with unmatched comfort, consistency, and control. With room-by-room temperature settings you will be comfortable wherever you are in your home. Linq can be set up in just a few minutes per room and is usable with a smart phone or device. We want all families to be more comfortable while enjoying increased energy savings.
Home isn't home until it’s comfortable.
What Are Problems with Traditional Heating and Cooling?
Traditional heating and cooling systems are old and inefficient. Traditional systems have hot and cold spots, no control, and expensive energy bills. The problem starts with the thermostat. Temperature is measured only where the thermostat is located, such as a hallway. However, your bedroom is not in the hallway, your living room is not in the hallway. So, how smart can the thermostat really be?
Energy efficient furnaces are not the answer either. Furnaces are efficient at converting heat from natural gas, or electricity, but are not efficient when heating and cooling individual rooms to the temperatures you desire.
Smart Vents Make Sense
Smart Vents make sense. They are an easy replacement, come in standard sizes, and are battery powered so they don't need to be near an outlet.
What about Other Do-It-Yourself Systems?
There are other do-it-yourself (DIY) vent systems. We love to see these! We want everyone to have access to a smart vent system that works for their needs. Linq Home Smart Vents will fill that need.
Linq Home Smart Vents is different from other systems. It is simple, safe, efficient, and affordable.
Simple. Simplicity has been our guide throughout development. This is why each Linq Home Smart Vent uses batteries instead of a power outlet, and a single “sync” button for setup. Not only do the sensors work for rental homes (no hard-wiring), but the vents come in standard vent sizes so you can simply replace your old vents, right out of the box.
Safe. Many renters and homeowners have expressed a concern of closing too many vents, and the pressure issues that may arise. We take this concern very seriously and have worked with HVAC contractors to develop multiple advanced safety algorithms to make sure there is no damage to the furnace or air conditioner.
Efficient. Save up to 30% on your energy bill. The system can pay for itself in under two years. The vents open and close automatically to redirect airflow and bring rooms to temperature faster, saving time and money. The advanced software gets smarter with time as it learns your habits, preferences and schedule. The more you use it, the less you have to.
Affordable. Room-by-room control by zone heating costs thousands of dollars. Other DIY solutions for the same number of rooms either don’t solve the problem or are hundreds of dollars more expensive than Linq Home Smart Vents.
How Does It Work?
Our patent-pending system is a wireless retrofit. Just replace your thermostat with a smart thermostat such as Nest, or another like it. If you already have a smart thermostat, great, use that!
- Plug the Hub into the wall.
- Replace your old vents with the Smart Vents (just the registers, not the duct work).
- Use the app to connect your hub to WiFi and sync your vents to a room on your device.
VIDEO: The Setup Process
Comfort. With a host of sensors and a 2 year battery life, Linq Home Smart Vents bring temperature control to every room of your home for unmatched comfort.
Consistency. The temperature, sensed at the vents, is sent wirelessly to the Hub, which uses process control and predictive modeling to optimize the system for your home, saving you up to 30% on your heating and cooling. The Hub does all the math and difficult calculations to determine when to open and close the vents automatically for unmatched consistency everyday. As weather, time of day, and seasons change, your comfort will stay the same.
Control. Yes, the system is complicated, but luckily, controlling it is not. The Linq Home App lets you control each room independently to set desired temperatures and schedules. You can turn it off when you leave, and preheat your home on your way back.
The Linq Team
Mason Wooley - CEO of Linq. I am the one with the faux hawk. I am an electrical engineer and product designer. I love playing ultimate Frisbee, hiking up mountains, and eating jerky.
Jason Griggs - CTO of Linq. I am the short one. I am a chemical engineer (which is better than electrical engineering, but don't tell Mason). I am the one making sure your system makes you comfortable, and saves you money.
Caleb Moore - VP Sales. I spend every day thinking about our strong community of users and supporters. I worked in sales for years and want to make sure your voice is heard as we develop our products.
Guy in the suit - He is not on our team. He was giving us the award when we won Student Innovator of the Year at BYU in November..
Why Is Linq On Kickstarter?
As you can see, we have already won money from competitions and what not, which is great because it means we need to raise less money here on Kickstarter. Your donation is helping us make up the difference.
We still need to get the Linq Home Smart Vents ready for manufacturing. Final PCB Revs, testing, certifications, and tooling are all expensive. With your help, we can all take part in this incredible wave of home automation. We can bring comfort, consistency, and control to families everywhere!
THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS!
Thank you! We hope you are excited about the Linq Home Smart Vent System. We hope you will back our project and help us make our dream of a more comfortable home come true.
Special thanks to a number of people have been enormously helpful: Scott Lemon, Carter Smith, Shane Pittson, Previn Menon, Mitch Burnett, Doug Wells, Steve Curtis, Craig Earnshaw, Brad Dickson, Rob Gallup, Thomas Thatcher, Robb Kunz, Little Caesars, and Dr. Pepper.
Risks and challenges
Hardware is hard. There's no way around that. We have done our best to assemble a team who can navigate the troubles of hardware. We have electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, a mechanical engineer or two and a chemical engineer for good measure, but hardware will be hardware. We will keep you up-to-date through the course of development so you will know what is going on at all times.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
