A 1st look at the scenario!
Twin Souls combines the essence of stealth classics like Tenchu with the modern approach of recent gems like Mark of the Ninja and Dishonored.
You are Aragami, a spirit of vengeance summoned by Yamiko, a mysterious girl imprisoned in a guarded fortress. As you come back to life, your souls are bound together, sealing your destinies. To achieve your goal you must engage in a dark journey through land and memories to destroy her prison seals.
As Aragami, you have the power of 'Shadow Control'. The darkness is your ally and the source of your strength. You have a diverse array of Shadow Powers at your disposal. As you advance you will need to sneak past guards, teleport between shadows, create your own areas of darkness and strategically assassinate your targets.
Twin Souls reintroduces the concept of ‘3rd person ninja simulator’, a style of gameplay untapped for many years since the original Tenchu series. Twin Souls wants to dismiss action mechanics in favor of stealth mechanics, the tension of being detected and the feeling of reward you get when finally beating a level without being noticed.
Some great stealth games like Metal Gear Solid, Thief or Splinter Cell defined a genre that is currently being diluted into action games. In Twin Souls you are outmatched, outnumbered and alone. You have no guns, amazing fencing skills or regenerating health. Your main weapon is your cunning, and darkness.
We are building a stealth game focusing on level design, freedom of movement, decision making and planning. You will need to spot and study enemy guards and patrols, look for the best positions to start your assault, plan the best route and actions to progress and think about the best ways to use your Shadow Powers to give you an advantage.
We envision Twin Souls as the lost child between Tenchu and Portal. You must plan ahead, survey your environment, make a tactical use of your shadows (your dark portals), and use them to assassinate your enemies from unsuspecting angles.
How you do it is up to you. Maybe you want to use the shadows to evade confrontation and sneak around unnoticed like a ghost; maybe you want to climb to the roofs and get rid of the enemy archers before falling onto the ground patrols from the heights; or maybe you want to use fear tactics and make your enemies panicked, making them kill each other. The choice is yours.
- Story driven single-player campaign - Besides having some awesome stealth mechanics and powers, we also want to deliver a solid single player campaign, with some memorable, characters and scenarios.
- Old School Stealth - Your enemies are lethal and direct confrontation is not an option. Survey the scenario, plan your approach and sneak around your enemies. Be the hunter, not the hunted.
- Choose Your Play-Style - Each situation has different possible approaches. Will you be the merciless emissary of death? Or maybe an undetectable ghost? Twin Souls won't force you to kill your enemies, nor will it penalize you for doing it. Both approaches to violence are valid.
- Shadow Powers - You have an array of Shadow Powers at your disposal. Create areas of darkness to get tactical advantage, use your Shadow Leap to move instantly between any two shadows, feed the bodies of your enemies to the shadows and leave no trace, summon a Shadow Clone to distract and confuse your enemies.
- Light Powers - Your foes are not helpless, they can manipulate light to create moving light sources, cast light barriers, shoot incendiary arrows, launch barrages of light from their weapons and imbue their armors with resplendent light.
- Mask of the Assassin - Unlock Assassins' Masks and wear them on the battlefield. Each Mask will give you a special power or improve your assassin skills. Select the best Mask according to your playstyle.
- Scenario Playgrounds - Each scenario in Twin Souls is designed to enable different routes of approach.
- Replayability - Replay each scenario to improve your performance score. Depending on your play-style you will get different outcomes, which will affect the world of Twin Souls and the story events. Special challenges modes and Level Editor in development.
- Original Soundtrack - A complete and astonishing original soundtrack (and SFX) composed by Two Feathers studio.
Twin Souls takes place in a world where humans have acquired the ability to manipulate the Elemental Powers: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light, Darkness and Life.
Humanity has turned Element manipulation into a discipline, building temples, schools and academies centered around the learning and mastery of each Element; these centers of knowledge are known as Brotherhoods. These are divided in 3 categories: Schools, where high level users gather to teach their secrets; Sects, congregations of followers and zealots of deities related to an Element; and Guilds, where arcane users sell their skills as a service.
The world shown before you is inhabited by warring Brotherhoods, supernatural beings and dangerous Element users. The places you visit bear the mark of forgotten glories and violent battles. You wake up with no memories of your past life, but as you get closer to your objective, you will discover familiar places and personal objects, each one sending echoes through your memories. As your twin souls bind tighter you'll uncover pieces of your past life and Yamiko's fate.
A word from Two Feathers:
Ever since our childhood, games and music have been an intertwined passion, and during the past years we've worked on audio in games such as 'Hammerwatch', 'Battlefield Heroes' and future 'Rovio' titles. We met through our current metal-band Overworld, where Elvira plays bass and Nicklas the guitar, where we quickly discovered our common interest in videogame-music. Both of us played a lot of the same RPG-games when we were younger and fell in love with the work of talented japanese composers such as Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) and Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears) .

For the final product, we'll take in musicians to record live music and bring the absolute best sound to the players. We want to bring the extra dimension of stealth to the player through sound; we believe that the tension of sneaking up onto your target is just as important as the overall atmosphere surrounding you as you sneak around.

Lince Works is a new Barcelona-based indie studio. We aim to create high quality games with heart and soul, designed by a team of people who love games and the creation of interactive experiences.
David is the main architect of the world of Twin Souls. Eerie graveyards, dense forests and ghost cities all turn real thanks to him. In the last few months he has looked at so many Japanese graveyards that it's a miracle he hasn't converted to Buddhism.

Laura is the core of Twin Souls' art style. Characters, landscapes, magic, clothes, world.. everything turns from mere idea to solid pencil lines thanks to her.
Twin Souls will be developed following an iterative development process. Each month a small piece of the game will be built, tested, shared with beta testers, changes made, and back at it again.
The game is being built with the powerful Unity3D engine, ensuring a quicker development process, long term support, and deployment to multiple platforms.
We are using Kickstarter to be able to fund the development of Twin Souls and not having to rely on big companies that could alter the essence of the game. Kickstarter allows us to create a community of backers that can guide the development of the game and help us take the right design decisions.
We’ll use the money for:
Software Licenses: Being our first studio, we still lack several tools to get the job done. Software Licenses are usually a one time investment (but an expensive one).
Music & Audio: We hired two amazing musicians to compose the music for the game. We’d like to hire them also to create all the SFX.
Development: We want to create a polished game in a small amount of time. Some things can go wrong with time estimates, and money usually buys helping hands (or more time) when those cases arise.
Bureaucracy: Intellectual property, taxes, and all the boring but necessary stuff.

Risks and challenges
We are a small team and this is our first commercial game. In the Master’s Degree we were trained to work as a real game studio, and we have team members already experienced in working at complex projects.
In the Masters, we built Path of Shadows from scratch, but Twin Souls will be using Unity3D, so a lot of the base framework is already in place and we can just port a lot of the code base and features without having to develop them from scratch.
The new team members have years of experience in 3D modelling for videogames, while the original members (the programmers) are already experienced in Unity3D and have demonstrated their capacity with the original student project.
Our budget covers a full year of development. Further investments and payments shall come from our savings and other financial sources we can find. Being our first studio, we are really committed to get it done, and doing it correctly.
The biggest challenge for the development will be the huge quantity of 'art content' needed to create a game of these proportions. More than half of our team consists of artists and we are ready to hire more hands if the need arises.
