The Gameplay Video Is Coming Tonight
The title pretty much says it all. I've been busily preparing this gameplay video, because I know many of you (and potential backers) have been waiting for it. Before we go too crazy with hype, I just want to note a few things with it:
1. This is NOT a video of the components; I've used Tabletop Simulator to create the components. As a result, not all of the components are represented; the cards are not present, and instead I do lots of explaining of them. The reason is that I'm not great at using Tabletop Simulator, and adding cards in was just going to take a lot of time for things I may not reference often anyway. A lot of them would literally just be text, as the art on them is still being worked on, anyway. I'm more than happy to preview some more of these cards in the coming updates if people are curious, including all the ones in the video.
2. It's a bit slow. It's once again just me manipulating all of the components, and sometimes it does take a bit of time. I know some people might be disappointed by this, and I apologise. As I explain in the video, both Limbo and I are small and separate operations (literally just me on my end; I'm shooting the videos and creating the components on my own). So the reality of it is that this was the easiest way to ensure I could get it done.
3. I make two errors in the game. One, a Fate token was cheekily hiding under another, which meant the human player had an extra fate AND I removed one from the demon player when I shouldn't have. This would have changed nothing except the final scoring for the turn, but thought I'd just note it here.
The other error is just a naming one. I refer to Godfrey as Gersholt a few times. This was his playtest name, and the Godfrey change was only recent, so I'm still getting used to it.
4. Again, and I stress this, NONE of the things you see in the game are final. In fact, I don't show everything in the game off here. This shows an ALMOST complete game on a test map. Some components that I couldn't get good renders of, or which I felt would distract, are not shown here. This video is more about how Fate flows back and forth in a turn, how positioning is important, how certain character abilities work, and showing just how much damage can be dealt in a single turn. Divinities tend to be a bit subtler in their game impact, so I haven't discussed them here (they'll come). Altars were removed as they only provide benefits over games that go for multiple turns, and as I was showing just a single turn, I decided not to show them.
With that being said, I'm going to do an edit of it tonight. Here's a picture to keep you all satisfied for the time being.
I understand that this is not going to satisfy everyone, and that's understandable. I hope that, for some people at least, this will scratch the itch that's been biting at people since day one.
Here's a sneak preview for now.
Until Next Time...
