About
The Lilli Lewis Project (lovingly referred to as LLP) is a band on the precipice...of what? We're not sure...but we're tapping into something we all find deeply wholesome, and we're doing our best to share it with the world.
Fronted by award-winning writer/producer/singer/composer Lilli Lewis, our regular lineup is augmented by a cosmic swarm of fellow idealist music nerds / New Orleans heavies including Smokey Brown (Think Less, Hear More), Wade Hymel (Dash Rip Rock), Ryan Murray (Marina Orchestra, Bloco Jacare), Ole Oddlokken (Noisewater) and master composer / virtuoso bassist Dr. Jimbo Walsh. Our tiny little cult of radical decency bears the spirit of days when everyone still believed music could change the world. Our music is all about integrating the personal with the inter-personal to build a better world, and even though it sounds kinda corny we say it like that, that's really what we're trying to do.
Right now we're working on our debut release as a full band which is set to be released in May of 2019 on Louisiana Red Hot Records. We recorded all of the rhythm tracks and are looking to our community to help us finish the mix and mastering of the final work. We've enlisted Grammy Award Winning Engineer/Producer Mark Bingham to make sure the effort sounds as timeless as the record's intention, with music that we believe will feel just as redemptive on New Orleans' famed Frenchmen Street as it will in Carnegie Hall.
In support of the record, we're embarking on a pre-release tour this Spring and will follow up with more dates at the end of the year. The tour is headlined by Cole Williams (formerly of Pimps of Joytime), and currently has confirmed dates in Nashville, Atlanta, El Paso, LA, Norther California, Salt Lake City, and Denver. While the bulk of the funds from this campaign will go to cover the album completion, we will use a portion to offset costs for getting our show on the road. Reaching our stretch goal of $10k would also allow us to release the album on vinyl!
Risks and challenges
There is little to no risk in funding a recording project. Our budget is already agreed upon and your donation will contribute to making a beautiful work of art. The risk of any concert tour is really managing the unknown. You never know when the van will break down or if gear will be stolen, that sort of thing. With dozens of tours and hundreds of shows under our belts, our band of troubadours is full of professionals who have faced every circumstance under the sun and have lived to tell the tale.
