That's awesome! OK, so if you'd like one of your stories to be considered for the special issue, we're currently in the midst of an open reading period for it, so all submissions (by women) are welcome. Please pop over to http://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/destroy to check out the submission guidelines, and you'll find instructions for submitting stories there.
If you're not a fiction writer and you'd still like to help, we've brainstormed some ways for you to help that way as well. If you blog and you'd like to post about your experiences in SF and link to the Kickstarter, that would be lovely! If you do, please be sure to send us a link when it goes live so we can share your stories (just email us at email@example.com). If you don't blog but you do use social media, please, keep us in mind. If you can share a single link about this project, you're helping fund great fiction by great women. And of course if you're not a woman, but you're a feminist and/or just support the project, of course feel free to blog and spread the word as well!
We did this for logistical reasons. Basically, if you have a bunch of rewards that cost the same exact price, it's quite a headache sorting through them all when it comes time to fulfill the rewards. It's just sort of a quirk in Kickstarter's creator tools that could probably use a little improvement. So as a workaround we ended up with a few odd price points so that no reward is priced the same as another reward.
We had the rewards all sorted out nicely and priced in nice $5 increments, but then once we launched we realized that we should offer a way to pledge at a higher tier that also gives you access to the DESTROY PRINT reward. So in order to do that, to avoid duplicating and other price point, but to stay consistent, we ended up with a bunch of rewards that either end in $4 or $9.
Wow, that answer was totally boring, right? Aren't you glad you asked??
Kickstarter's TOS actually forbids lifetime subscriptions, otherwise we would. (They also don't allow you to offer genetically modified organisms as a reward. DARN IT!) However, LIGHTSPEED does offer lifetime subscriptions in our own online store. We just can't offer them as part of the Kickstarter.
