Risks and challenges
The first obvious risk and challenge we face is putting our passion project out there with the hopes that people will respond to it in order for us to hit our target. However, we are confident in the project and feel we’re presenting it in the best possible way without hindering the content. We also believe that our transparency in promoting this series as an important project, will assure those - who intend to back us and in turn feel the same. This transparency also applies to how we’ll be using the funds to finance the series, meaning that pledges from our supporters will be used wholeheartedly to bring this significant project to fruition.
Another risk we take is spending thousands of pounds on a 6 episode drama series that ends up falling flat on its face – a risk that a lot of artistic endeavours hoping to find an audience, face. But we are optimistic and secure in the belief that an audience is certainly out there. We’ve managed to even conduct research both online and on the street across majors cities around England regarding content they’d like to see in a fiction based format.
Exhibition/distribution is another challenge, however with the support of UK non-profit broadcaster – Community Channel, we will be able to not only get TV airtime, but also feature on BBC iPlayer. After this, we’ll be reaching out to territories in other parts of the world and aim to get the series licensed. Asian Music Publishing will also aid in this phase, as they’ll be co-ordinating with music composers from around the world to create their own music compositions for the series through a ground breaking interactive music model.
The production process itself always comes with surprises whether it's unexpected weather conditions on certain shoot days, delayed en route to location due to transport traffic, actors or crew falling ill. Fortunately we've given ourselves a significant time frame for principle photography that allows us to shift and move dates around within this, should any of the above occur. We also have the backing and support of a broadcaster that won't be unreasonable when it comes delaying transmission due to unexpected events - whether it's technical or otherwise, as they just like us and our backers - want this to succeed and are determined to see it through.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
