By God's goodness we've reached $60,000, now help us get to $70,000 so we can create a kid's show!
'IT ONLY TAKES A SPARK...'
- LGH.tv will produce Season 1 of SPARK(at the park)- an online show highlighting awesome kids who are changing the world and inspiring the next generation to dream big with their lives!
After producing and pitching a pilot for an entertaining (& world-changing) TV show, we heard over and over from TV Network Executives that American Audiences just don’t care. We learned quickly that unless a show is scripted, cast, and filled with fake drama, sex, and shallowness, most Networks won’t take a chance.
As Parents, Social Entrepreneurs, and Filmmakers we know this is false.
LGH.tv is an entire Network of programming dedicated to showing viewers that they are much more capable than they’ve been led to believe.
LGH.tv Kickstarter Campaign will Fund:
- Late 2014/early 2015 Launch of LGH.tv
- Season One of each of LGH.tv’s first 3 Shows (6+ Episodes per Show, per Season)
All of the money (aside from Kickstarter fees/rewards) will go directly towards the creation of LGH.tv as listed above.
Americans aren't shallow, not like Television Network VPs alluded to when we met with them to pitch our TV show. We believe there is a market for well-produced media that reminds the viewer (from 5-85) that they are more capable than they've been lead to believe!
Africa is WAY MORE than poverty and despair - we've helped shine a light on that in our award-winning film, Moving On, but what about the rest of the world? Who's telling the stories of the difference makers? Who's producing authentic and vulnerable media? Who's storytelling with the intent to bring connection? Who's creating content that fills us up and reminds us that gratitude, hope, and joy are daily choices? WE ARE! Finding and telling these stories is where we are putting our time, energy, resource, and talents. We're going to the ends of the earth to show you that you're more capable than you've been lead to believe. And...We're inviting you!
After producing award-winning feature-length film, Moving On, and releasing 'our baby' for worldwide distribution, we knew that our journey in the entertainment industry was just beginning. Those feelings were confirmed as we started to hear feedback and receive daily emails and Facebook messages about how the stories not only entertained, but also moved the viewer - provoking self-reflection and inspiring them to action. We became more convinced than ever of the power well-produced media has in connecting, empowering, and ultimately creating change.
Our overall budget to get LGH.tv fully launched is closer to $120,000, but as you know, with Kickstarter it's 'all or nothing,' so we had to set a realistic goal. We're working hard setting up meetings with Donors in order to raise an additional $60,000 we will need to get this big dream off the ground. We are confident we can get Private Donors to match what we raise on Kickstarter. Rest assured, $60,000 is the absolute bare minimum we need in order to get the first seasons of our first three shows produced and finalized for LGH.tv, so if we meet this goal, it's a go regardless. If we go above and beyond our goal, we can commit to Season 2 of The Find (to be shot in January/February) as well as the production of at least 2 other shows on the LGH.tv network (one of which is a kid's show). Don't forget, with Backings of $250+, you will get a tax-deductible receipt since LGH is registered 501(c)3 organization.
Eight years ago we fell in love with a baby girl, but she lived in Uganda, East Africa, and we lived in Colorado. So, we decided to quit our jobs, and move to her town with our 2-year-old son. Everything was new and overwhelming, but we began to meet incredible people who defied our preconceived notions of what we'd find. We began to learn there was much more to the story and we would be forever changed by what we learned. They showed us that love wins, hope prevails, and joy isn't dependent on circumstances - that with simple actions, anybody could play a part in changing the world. Light Gives Heat (LGH) was born. Creativity, passion, and idealism collided and our lives would never be the same.
Back in America, LGH took on the role of a story-teller; utilizing film, branding, and marketing as we sold over 50,000 handmade products across the globe (each one packaged with the life-changing story of an Artisan). In 2010 we began production on a feature-length film, Moving On, reminding the world that Africa doesn't need rescued by America - that in fact, our rescues are tied up in each other. Moving On went on to play at film festivals worldwide and garner recognition. Right now it is currently in International distribution and we're getting ready for a US release. Although a life of risk and adventure has never been easy, it has been worth it. We've come to realize that normal everyday people, like us, are choosing hope and making a difference all over the globe.
LGH.tv is a project of Light Gives Heat, a certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization. ALL PLEDGES ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE and LGH will provide a receipt for the 2014 tax year in January 2015!
Risks and challenges
When our project is successfully funded (like our optimistic thinking?), the only real setbacks we can foresee would revolve around assembling our crew for travel (aligning schedules, booking tickets, applying for visas) and possible post production delays (which would just mean the launch of the seasons could be slightly delayed).
But really, our entire team is already on board, so we honestly don't plan on running into any issues, especially with the fulfillment of the Rewards (again, the only one that could be delayed would be the delivery of the HD downloads if the production gets pushed back).
Rest assured, we'll stay in close communication and keep you updated and in the know!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
