We would like to tell you the story of our three characters: Alaska, Pandora... and Parallel House. As the physical representation of someone's consciousness, the house does indeed have its own personality and character: it is shy and has secrets hidden away; it is playful, as it sends you in wrong directions; and it is forgetful, as it lets its memories fade away.
Alaska awakes to find herself at the entrance to Parallel House: she knows she is there for a reason, but cannot remember why. As she ventures through the house, strange things happen: objects disappear, rooms switch places, the staircase goes on forever...and from upstairs comes the footsteps of the resident, Pandora.
Pandora seems to be stuck in Parallel House: she has been there for so long she blends in with her surroundings and is used to the house's strange quirks. When Alaska discovers the truth about the house, she is convinced that they need to escape...and FAST. As they try to flee, they realise that escape may not be possible, and even if it were, what world would they be going back to?

The principal crew's award nominated first film can be seen here:
We held three casting sessions around South Wales and had applicants from all over the country. After narrowing it down to the last four people, we met again to decide who our final two cast members would be. We are very proud to announce our wonderful actors: Atlanta Di Tomaso as 'Alaska' and Rosanna John as 'Pandora'.
Parallel House is set in a surreal 'other world' and so everything about the house has to reflect this too: from the costumes, to the music...even the wallpaper! Here are some examples of what we have created so far (without giving the game away)...
The cinematography is inspired by the camera set-ups, framing and camera movement of films and TV shows such as 'The Kings Speech' and 'House': they all manage to reflect the subconscious of their main characters, which is what we are also aiming for. We will be using various equipment to achieve this: we already have our jib, dolly and steady cam, plus we will be filming on a Black Magic camera.

We have some ambitious ideas for decorating the house, including strange changing pictures and wallpapering a section of the front room, then ageing the paper to look as tired and forgotten as the house. We need to spend a day or so clearing the house first however: if you take a look at some of pictures, you can see what a mammoth task that will be!
One of the most important props will be the guestbook (for £2 your name can be in it too!). We want to make it look as old as the house itself, by ageing the leather and staining the pages. We also have some crazy ideas for other props (just wait and see), most of which we hope to source from celticprophire.co.uk
We have some very specific costume ideas and so far have managed to source nearly every piece.
We have a composer on board to create an original score, loosely based on the music of David Lynch. Meet our composer Sam Arnold here: http://www.s-arnold.co.uk
Talented Scottish artist and musician Bobby King designed the concept art that we are using on the website and also in the design of some of the Kickstarter prizes. We think they are beautiful.
How Your Donation Will Be Spent:
Well, we have saved, begged and borrowed as much as we could so far, and now we need your help to ensure the project is not just completed, but is done to a high level. The project costs more than what we are asking you to help us with: we don't believe in making a profit from your generosity. Here are our costings:
As you can see, the biggest percentage of the funds is going towards the rental of the house, an electricity supply for it and the props and decoration inside. This house is perfect for the film, but we need to ensure that we can afford to rent it.
We also want to show this film off! It will be entered into a number of festivals across the UK and Europe over the next 18 months: one of which will be the IRIS Festival, due to the film's LGBT subplot.
What's In It For You:
Other than the wonderful feeling of knowing that you are helping to make our vision a reality, you will also receive a selection of the prizes on the right. Even just a £2 donation would not only be much appreciated, it also gets you into the guestbook: you will be a lasting piece of our film*.
For some of the other prizes you will get a link to watch the film online, and maybe even a postcard from the Parallel House residents or some beautiful concept artwork.
For those of you opting for the higher value options, you will get a credit on both the film AND the IMDB site. Yes you could see your name here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3545352/
Above all though we appreciate your support. Please come and give us a 'like' and a share on Facebook, and join us on our adventure to Parallel House.
*we cannot GUARANTEE that you will be able to see your name, but it will be there!
Risks and challenges
As with any filming project, we will face a number of challenges: whether it be transport problems, inclement weather, costume mishaps or even not having a power supply! But we are confident that our strength as a team and our combined knowledge and enthusiasm will take us through any problem that may arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
