TAXI JOURNEY is a cross between an adventure game and a platformer set in a universe that combines charm, humor and mystery.
Thanks to KickStarter, you can help us move on from the design phase to creating a real game for PCs and Macs. With your support, we could also develop Taxi Journey on Linux, android & iOS tablets, PSN and Xbox.
Behind TAXI JOURNEY lies a treasure trove of memories – the immense joy and pleasure we had playing games such as Limbo, Braid and Machinarium.
Let’s not forget that Lexis has a very experienced team. In fact, it has been developing games for over 20 years and has earned the trust of publishers such as Ubisoft, Namco Bandai and even Disney.
TAXI JOURNEY is an original game somewhere between an adventure game and a puzzle game. It is set in a universe that combines charm, humor and mystery.
Gino, a big guy who doesn't say much, is a rather odd taxi driver. Having no money, he can only afford a car without an engine and without a passenger seat so he has to carry his clients on his back and pedal instead of drive.
It all begins when he encounters Zoe, a strange little girl with mysterious powers, who takes him to strange and distant lands where they meet a host of loveable and funny characters as well as some rather disturbing ones who will do anything to stop them.
Completely drawn in pencil, Taxi presents a very strong and personal graphic universe. It takes its inspiration from different movies and games such as the movies of Tim Burton and Myasaki and the very beautiful Limbo.
The aim of this game is to get Zoe to her destination by bypassing various obstacles using the laws of physics (dexterity), finding solutions to situations (puzzles) and interacting with various characters - but only by working together will Gino and Zoe succeed.
While Gino is at the wheel, Zoe can throw magic projectiles or put up her protective umbrella – the two characters make a perfect team. Like Limbo, Braid or Machinarium, TAXI JOURNEY relies on dexterity and thought processes.
But in TAXI JOURNEY, we are keen to focus on the story and the “adventure” dimension. As you advance in the game by solving puzzles and bypassing obstacles, we also want you to be moved by Gino and Zoe’s budding friendship and feel genuinely concerned about their plight.

Designing a campaign for KickStarter is a way to fund the development of TAXI JOURNEY and create a memorable game. But it’s not just a question of money.
We are keen to have your input throughout the production stage and get your feedback on our decisions and choices. A critical element of TAXI JOURNEY is finding the right balance of gameplay and tuning.
To do that we need to test, test and test – hopefully with your help.
As soon as we can, we will send you versions of the game for your comments and suggestions.
The budget we are asking for - along with a first investment of $150K we're making - is the absolute minimum to create a really good game.
Exceeding this budget would enable us to do two things:
- To develop TAXI JOURNEY on new additional platforms including Linux, PSN and XBLA, Android & iOS tablets.
- To give more depth to the game i.e. more characters, more settings, more puzzles, etc.

Set up in 1990, Lexis Numerique has a very experienced team. With over nine million games sold worldwide through a network of prestigious partners (Ubisoft, Namco Bandai, Disney, Midway etc.), Lexis Numerique is one the leading independent game design and development studios in Europe.
Designer of highly original worlds, Lexis has created games with strong graphics and innovative features including “Missing; Since January”, “Evidence”, “The Experiment”, “Red Johnson’s Chronicles” and more recently “Alt-Minds” (available soon in the USA).
Convinced that it is still possible to explore new avenues in terms of gameplay and audiences, Lexis Numerique is fiercely committed to remaining independent. We believe that just like cinema, video games need blockbusters but they also need independent games to remain exciting and vibrant.
Risks and challenges
For over 20 years, Lexis has been developing PC, Mobile, PSN and XBLA games.
The last games we designed were adventure games (Red Johnson’s Chronicles and Red Johnson’s Chronicles – One Against All) as well as innovative gameplay called Alt-Minds, which has not yet been launched in the USA.
The main production risk is not technical but rather fine-tuning the game, which is why we regularly test versions of our games as we value feedback.
We don’t make games just for us – we like to share them too and the best way to do that is to get you involved in the process as early as possible.
