In a world very much like our own, Millennium Blades is the world’s most popular collectible card game. Continuously in print for more than a thousand years, the game has seen thousands of expansions and billions of cards.
Players from around the world seek to become world champions by mastering duels and collecting the game’s rarest and most coveted cards. Still others live by the game, building financial empires by dealing, speculating, and trading in the aftermarket. Many are content simply to play for fun and meet new friends.
Your very own Millennium Blades Legend is about to unfold! What will be your path to glory? With your starter deck in hand and a dream in your heart, the time has come to step boldly into the world of Millennium Blades!
Millennium Blades is a board game about a fictional collectible card game, which is also called Millennium Blades. You begin the game on pre-release night with just your starter deck. You’ll open new packs, form collections, and sell your junk cards on the aftermarket to buy hot new cards. Trade with your friends, build up your deck, and prepare to compete at Millennium Blades Worlds for the title of World Champion!
We’ve all been touched by the magic of Collectible Card Games—from the thrill of opening packs and discovering that ultra-rare card, to the excitement of waiting on pre-release night to see what hidden gems a new set holds, to the tension of sitting with baited breath to see your opponent’s play in the final round of the tournament. Millennium Blades captures that magic and distills it down to a single-game session.
Card Games create their own world and their own culture for us to explore, and continue to reward players who delve deeper and deeper into these worlds. These games are about discovery, social interaction, and fun–what could be a better topic to use as the basis for a board game!?
Now, after 2 years of continuous development, spanning over 20 major revisions, we're finally ready to bring Millennium Blades to life!
"...a hell of a lot of fun... I’ve never played anything quite like it."
"Playing Millennium Blades was like drinking purely distilled nostalgia... It stands as a truly unique gaming experience unlike anything else I have played to date."
"Millennium Blades is a game like no other... it perfectly encapsulates the Collectible Card Game experience - from opening packs for chase rares; to buying, selling and trading for cards on the secondary market; and building and refining decks to suit the current metagame. Millenium Blades offers a lot of depth... you are constantly engaged, with very little downtime."
"I've played it with my gaming group, and my bizarro gaming group. It's really firing on all cylinders for us. It's really incredible."
"A very impressive title... audacious in the level of ambition it displays... one of the most innovative games of 2015."

Millennium Blades is a game about competitive deck building. You get a limited pool of cards, and then you tinker them into the most unfairly over-powered, table-flippingly broken deck that you can imagine. And your deck had better be pretty crazy, because your opponents won’t be giving any quarter, and they all have unique collections with access to their own high-tier power cards.
In addition to deckbuilding, you'll be speculating on blind pack buys, selling and buying cards on the aftermarket, and fusing your cards to make rarer and better ones to get an advantage over the competition. You might even make a few friends, if you're willing to help them out.
Millennium Blades is a large-scale game that takes around 2 hours to play (depending on the number of players and their familiarity with the game). Between 2 and 5 players can participate. The intensity level of this game is fairly high, and you’ll need to use all your gaming skills to make it to the top.
There's not really anything else in gaming that's comparable to the full scope of Millennium Blades. It's part Galaxy Trucker, part Ascension, and part Race for the Galaxy. The best thing to do is to watch this quick overview video if you want to understand it all!
Will you try to build the Ultimate Deck and sweep the tournament scene? Will you become the most accomplished collector in the world? Will you make stacks of money in the Aftermarket and in trades, or will you help your friends along the path to glory? There's nothing quite like beating that smug tournament player with the power of friendship, haggling to get that last card you desperately need for your deck, or drawing that one, legendary power card from a random, unexpected pack.
Every game of Millennium Blades offers new and unexpected twists, turns, and possibilities!

There are two parts to Millennium Blades — Tournaments and Deckbuilding. These will be repeated over several rounds. The player who can acquire the most Victory Points by the end of the third Tournament is the winner!
In the Deckbuilding Phase, you will buy cards and freely construct your deck in a limited time frame. Players can trade with each other, collect sets, participate in the player rewards program, and more.
- Buy new cards from the store.
- Sell and buy old cards on the aftermarket.
- Trade cards with other players.
- Fuse cards through the Player Rewards Program to get high-power promotional cards.
- Collect cards to form sets and earn collector prestige.
- Build your deck for the tournament phase.
In the Tournament Phase, you will use the cards you have selected to participate in a free-for-all battle and score more points than opponents. Push your Ranking as high as you can to get those tournament Victory Points!
- Play the cards in your deck to score Ranking Points.
- Use accessories and deck archetypes to gain extra advantages.
- Exploit the global metagame to get ahead of the competition.
- Score Victory Points for placing in the tournaments to get closer to victory!
At the end of the game, the winner is the player who can acquire the most Victory Points. There are many paths to these points, however...
- Winning Tournaments is the largest source of Victory Points
- Completing valuable Collections is another way to get big points.
- The Money you've made in the Aftermarket will score points.
- Friendship that you've earned from helping the other players will earn you some points as well.
The 500+ cards in Millennium Blades are organized into a number of sets, which all come in the same core box. Each set contains 12 cards, and has a different theme, mechanics, and aesthetics. In a game, you will select and use 12 different card sets. Each possible combination of sets will open the door to new combos and interactions!
All these sets are included in the base game box!
The Game Box (a huge 17.25"x11.25"x2.75" box) includes these materials:
- Around 500 Game Cards (depending on stretch goals)
- 5 Player Mats(17"x8.5" heavy cardstock)
- 2 Central Game Mats (17"x11" heavy cardstock)
- A tough Storage Tray to store the base game and any future expansions.
Millennium Blades: Set Rotation
Through stretch goals, we've unlocked the option to add-on an expansion that will ship out at the same time as the base game, called Millennium Blades: Set Rotation. Set Rotation includes 12 new card sets, giving you half again as much content as the base game, opening up even more variety. Set Rotation is designed with advanced gamers in mind, and gives you additional depth and strategy for experiencing Millennium Blades.
To add-on Set Rotation, just upgrade your pledge to the Power Gamer Tier. All Promo and Set Sponsor Tiers include this expansion already.
Images for these sets are still under construction, but we can show off the working titles of these sets now:
- The Thousand-Pixel Cabinet - Classic arcade homages galore!
- Cardboard Street - Based on a TV show that teaches kids how to be expert card gamers.
- UUUuurrrrrgh! - The obligatory zombie set. These guys just don't give up!
- Saved by the 90's - All our favorite pop-culture and TV references from decades past.
- Star Hike - "To boldly kill your crew in ways no man has been killed before."
- Shonen Leap - These cards are all about the power of friendship.
- Deus Rex Machina - Cyberpunk Hackers and Evil Corporations. You've never seen these in a card game before!
- A Game of Rings - Explore a magical fantasy world where everyone dies suddenly and brutally.
- Developmental Issues - Meet the developers of Millennium Blades!
- Penny Dreadful - Old-style mystery meets mafia shootouts.
- Aluminum Cook - Deckbuild with a new flavor with these famous chefs!
- Ultimate Kaiju Throwdown - Remember kids, only you can destroy Tokyo.
And a new playable character:
- Pritchard Leftfield - A game designer who dabbles in time travel, and the original creator of Millennium Blades.
Sponsors are friends in the gaming industry who have offered to let us print some of their characters on promotional Millennium Blades cards! These cards will be hard to find outside the project, and are included for free in all pledges $5 and above!
Pledge Tiers are pretty simple for the project. If you want more copies of games or other games than Millennium Blades, you can always add on extra stuff via the Pledge Manager Website. We'll let you know when it goes live (about a week after the project ends).
There may be more tiers or upgrades to existing tiers that appear as the project goes on, so check back!
Social Goals are included for all Backers in the project. You can share the project and help us unlock more promotional cards for all backers in 3 easy steps! Thanks for your help in supporting the project and sharing the game!
Our Stretch Goals are divided into two parts. "Base" Goals are those that are going into the base game, and are therefore included in all pledges. Goals that aren't included in the base game are called "Expansion" Goals, and will go into an additional box (which you can get by backing at the POWER GAMER pledge tier).
More stretch goals will appear as we unlock these!

- BattleCON: Devastation
- BattleCON: War Remastered Edition
- Argent: The Consortium
- Minigame Library 2013
- Pixel Tactics
- Mystic Empyrean
- Power Play
Add-ons of our other published games (like BattleCON, Sellswords, Pixel Tactics, etc.) will be available via a pledge manager after pledges close. We won't be offering those directly with this project, as we want to make sure Millennium Blades funds itself, rather than being carried by the other games we make.
You can create an account on www.worldofindines.com in advance, but your pledge here will not show up immediately. About a week after this Kickstarter ends, your pledge here will be imported into the site, and you can manage add-ons and extras there.
Risks and challenges
Millennium Blades is one of the largest and most fully-featured games we have ever produced. With over 200 pieces of full-color artwork and two years of intensive game design and development, we've already taken on significant risk to make this game a reality.
The production and delivery of physical goods is a messy and complex process, and it's impossible to fully gauge the challenges each project will present. However, we've managed to successfully deliver six Kickstarter-produced board games in the past, so we feel confident that we're prepared to face whatever challenges might come up.
We like to outdo ourselves and make each game a spectacular production, and so we have been known to delay games to make sure that everything is up to our high standards of quality and playability. Please be aware that our delivery dates are very rough estimates only, and are subject to change.
While we work our best to get your games to you in a timely manner and a reasonable price, please be aware that overseas (especially in Europe and Canada) the hobby distribution chain works faster and cheaper than we can offer through Kickstarter. If you are outside of the USA and think that you will be able to get the project rewards from your local game store or regional online store, we recommend pledging for just the promotional cards and supporting your local hobby industry by getting the final game through them.
