Quick Poll - To sleeve or not to sleeve?

Hey friends!

I have an exciting opportunity that I wanted to run by you to see how you think I should approach it.

All of the BattleCON games so far released contain about 2450 cards. Getting that many sleeves can be a bit pricey, especially if you're buying high quality sleeves and not just so-called "Penny Sleeves."

We have an opportunity to offer a bundle of 2550 sleeves (700 red, 950 blue, and 900 clear) for $51, a rate of about 2 cents per sleeve. But we need have to have a minimum amount of interest so that we can make a bulk order and make this deal work out.

These sleeves would be matte finish, and they have a nice, snug fit for standard sized cards. I've already received a factory sample and tested them, and they're consistent with above-average industry quality. They shuffle smoothly and even rough shuffling doesn't split them. They don't have any kind of special designs on the backs--just solid colors.

Sleeves aren't really heavy (compared to Devastation or Unleashed) so this wouldn't impact shipping very much for anyone already getting these big games. Maybe $1 or $2 extra at most.

So I'd like to ask you all:

  • Does the price ($51 for 2550 sleeves, or 2c per sleeve) seem attractive to you?
  • Would you be interested in purchasing a complete sleeving solution as an add-on via the pledge manager at this price.

Depending on the answers we get, we'll see about adding this opportunity onto the Pledge Manager when we launch next week.

Thanks for helping us to make the best decision!

If the sleeves are as good quality as you say I would definitely be interested.

$51 for enough sleeves sounds fair, I'd prefer clear if that's an option though!

Very keen, I would buy at least 1 set.

      YES!

      YES!

Definitely in for sleeves. What about picture of a sample?

    11. Maurizio Briosi on

Already have most of battlecon sleeven, but for unleashed still not. Interested in clear sleeves mostly, but depends on the quality.

    12. gwathdring on

I honestly don't know if I'd sleeve Battlecon as there's minimal shuffling and I've found some easy workarounds for Strikers mismatches.

But I do a lot of PnP and I'd probably jump on sleeves at that price point anyway.

Yes on the sleeve. Please also show us how it looks before the Pledge Manager begins.

+1 in favor of sleeves. Looks like a great deal.

      Chad Baker on

      Yes on the sleeves.

    17. Scott Armstrong on

I'm sleeving either way, so I'd much rather do so at 2 cents per sleeve.

I probably won't end up sleeving, myself. While keeping the cards unmarked should be fairly important, with as many characters as there are, I don't foresee any single character being used to such an extent.

Besides, if I wanted to, I could just carry like two dozen sleeves and ten fighters and just sleeve the 2 to 3 characters that people are playing at the moment.

      I'd be interested.

    20. Antony Tran on

Would prefer clear sleeves since I like the artwork on the back. But as long as they fit in the boxes its all good. I would have sleeved it myself if the campaign did not provide an option

      AN JAE YOUNG on

Definetely a Yes. Price seems reasonable(if the quality is as posted) and the colored sleeves are a nice idea. I'd get it if I have an option for it.

    24. Sirius Man on

I don't want transparent. There are bound to be color discrepancies between sets. Opaque is the way to go if you want to mix everything together!!

      Daniel Parubotchy on

Sleeves sounds good. I would definitely buy them at that price

    26. Thibaut B. on

I would be interested in full sleeving aswell BUT 100% transparent please (as asked by many). Thanks

    27. Chris Solis Collaborator on

Thank you for the sleeves feedback everyone!

Interested in sleeves but I don't see much sense in red, blue and clear sleeves.
So, I would prefer just clear ones, I would consider sleeves with the BattleCon design (the brands I tried so far had serious issues with splitting) and I will probably not pay for a mixture of red, blue and clear ones.

      Symone Fyffe on

I'd take the sleeves at that price :)

      Jan Krahl on

Clear sleeves only (or with printed back) and high quality.

    32. Christine Kamoss on

Yeah, sleeves would help protect the cards and extend the lifetime of the game. With as much as I enjoy it, keeping it around is a priority

    33. hius on

I will purchase the sleeves. Currently I have only devastation in FFG sleeves and that was a lot of money. If these sleeves are around the same quality then that is an easy yes.

    34. Elsymir on

If they are the colored sleeves, as stated in the update, I would add them on. If they are clear sleeves, as others have requested, I would not be interested. I already have all of BattleCON sleeved in clear sleeves. Honestly, we don't have much of an issue with the color variations between editions right now as there are ways to still conceal what you are playing, but this is a great price for sleeves.

      Galen Deal on

I would be interested in sleeves as well!

      TeK on

Yes, I would be interested in sleeves!

    37. Missing avatar

      Colin Booth on

Definitely sleeve. I don't sleeve everything but Battlecon is an exception since the cards get lots of handling and the impact of marking the backs is pretty high.

    38. Missing avatar

      Sullivan Boyd on

Definitely in for the sleeves. Some of my cards in Devastation didn't get sleeves due to cost, and they've gotten super worn down

    39. Tom Loughead on

That's definitely an easy yes. I habitually sleeve everything I can and this would save me from having to get a ton of sleeves on my own.

    40. Kevin Wine
      Superbacker
      on

That many sleeves at that price point seems like a no brainer for me personally.

    41. Samuel Chew on

I think it's a fantastic idea, provided quality control on the sleeves work out and they don't come in weird sizes. I'd be down to get the sleeves.

    42. Missing avatar

      Justin Lai on

I'd totally be down for those sleeves, especially at that price point.
