BattleCON, short for “Battle Connection Fighting System”, is a card-based duel between two fighters. BattleCON gives you a wide variety of unique tactics, and you'll combine these with strategic play to take down rivals in fast-paced duels.
We've come to Kickstarter to bring an unprecedentedly full-featured version of BattleCON to your Web, PC, Mac, Android, and iOS devices (with cross-platform play, of course!). We want your help to develop and test new fighters, new modes, and more! Join in to help make this dream a reality to get early access to the game's beta in December, as well as a bunch of other exciting bonuses!
Beyond even that, with the success of this project, we'll be able to make the game even better for both current and future players through stretch goals!
Check out a demo reel from our 0.25 Alpha Build! It's still a work in progress, but you can see some of the cards and changes for Turbo Mode, as well as the look of the interface for the game.
You can scroll down to check out BattleCON, learn more about our plans for the app, and to support and share!
BattleCON Online is more than just a digital platform for playing BattleCON. In addition to being able to play anytime, anywhere, with anyone in the world, we want to bring you an exciting roster of characters, special costumes, and new play modes that bring the game and the world to life, including the long sought-after story and solo dungeon modes.
All screenshots and videos are of a work in progress. The final game will have unique art on each style, and potentially animated cards as well.
Our goal for this project is to have BattleCON Online playable via web browser, on Steam (Mac and PC), on Android, and on iOS. This project sponsors the beta launch of BattleCON Online in December, and will have 10 playable fighters, as well as multiple costumes for each of these fighters. It will allow you to play Ranked Turbo Mode, Ranked Strategic Mode, Custom Lobbies with friends, and Training Mode. All devices are included in a pledge, and your progress and unlocked characters will be shared across multiple devices.
In addition to all this, we've created tons of new art assets, a new card style, and a complete Original Soundtrack for the online release of the game! Check out some previews of the soundtrack below!
Khadath's Theme - Dystopian Gate
Karin's Theme - My Celestial Wish
Luc's Theme - Ignore the Primordial Warning
Check out the 10 initially planned fighters for BattleCON Online. Which one suits your style? More characters will be introduced at a rate of about 2-4 per month after the game's launch.
You can select from a roster of random free-to-play characters that changes weekly, or you can unlock your favorite fighters to add to your collection permanently with real money or with gold won through play. A typical fighter will cost about $3, or will be unlockable with about 6 hours' worth of gold.
Characters in BattleCON Online can be personalized with various costumes. Most will just change the character's appearance, but some of these costumes possess alternate unique powers (if you're playing in a lobby that allows that), and may even re-theme their card names and voiceovers! Tournament and ranked modes will allow only standardized rules, but all of the aesthetic changes to your characters will stick, so you can use your cool bonus costumes in any lobby you like.
For those who pledge to support the game here on Kickstarter for $10 or more, we have created two KS-exclusive premium costumes just for you!
BattleCON is a simple game, but the variety offered by the characters makes each match unique and exciting. Here’s a quick gameplay demo (from the physical game).
After being around for 4 years, BattleCON has acquired a ton of critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. See what people love with these reviews. You can find plenty more reviews online and on our website!
BattleCON is one of the highest rated tabletop games of all time, and you can find numerous glowing reviews on Board Game Geek, where the game is the 2nd highest rated Kickstarted game of all time (among games with over 500 ratings)
If you're already a veteran of BattleCON, you're probably curious about what BattleCON Online has to offer. Keep in mind that some of these features are longer-term developments, but we're planning on getting to everything eventually. Here are a few key features we want to put into BattleCON Online...
Turbo Mode - If you want to get in a game of BattleCON within 5 minutes, Turbo Mode is designed specifically for quick online play, and optimizes characters by front-loading all the decisions that are normally made mid-beat. This forces you to fully commit to your attacks, and creates a more streamlined play experience. Of course, you can always play Strategic Mode if you want the classic tabletop play experience.
Custom Lobbies - Set up rooms and invite your friends to play with customizations like EX and Almighty characters, alternate Unique Abilities, arenas, and more!
In-Game Unlocks & Progression - Complete daily quests, participate in events, and explore dungeon and story modes to level up up your fighters and get in-game gold. There will be elite costumes available only with in-game gold and EXP, and premium costumes available for real-money purchase. You can even use your in-game gold to unlock new fighters!
Ranked Play - Automatically be matched up with players of your skill level in Turbo and Strategic Mode, and build up your rank across seasons of play to earn cool awards!
Cross-Platform Play - Your account, fighters, and ranks will be available on all your different devices, so you can play anytime, anywhere.
Solo/Story Mode - You can play through the story of your favorite character, explore dungeons, and train against AI enemies. You can even tackle puzzle-like challenge duels with special rules and restrictions.
Online Events - Participate in ranked tournaments, weekly challenges, daily quests, and special limited-time event matches with unique rules.
We're focusing on Turbo and Strategic Ranked play for the launch of the game, and we'll be working on filling out the rest of the features with your help during the game's beta.
The listed modes and features are not stretch goals. They are planned updates to be released later in the game's life, during and after beta, regardless of the money raised in this KS project.
By pledging to the project, you help us purchase the software license for our engine (Unity) as well as to fund the art and development costs for the website, characters, and new modes. We have a team devoted to this project and working overtime to make it come to life, but they still need to eat and pay rent, after all. :D
The game follows a free-to-play model popular in games like Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, and others. You'll be able to unlock new fighters with gold earned in-game, or to purchase them outright with cash. There will also be a rotating roster of free fighters each week. Once the game launches, characters can be unlocked for about $3 apiece, or with about 6-hours' worth of in-game gold. It will be possible to play every fighter via in-game gold, so players who choose to play for free will be on the same level playing field as those who choose to buy fighters.
If you're looking to get into the game quickly and cheaply, try out the $10 TEMPLAR tier, which gives you access to all the Kickstarter exclusives and to five characters of your choice to start your collection, then grab the rest with in-game rewards as you play. If you want to get everything up front, you can pledge for $20, and start saving up to unlock season 2 characters as they come out!
We're hoping to start closed beta play within a month or two of when the project ends, inviting backers to join in the game and play with us. Open beta will be ready for the public a few months later.
We also have some very exciting stretch goals. These will increase the amount of bonus content that we're giving to backers right out of the gate!
We've already put a ton of work into bringing the app to this point, but we need your help to take it the distance. There are a lot of risks in making a video game, and most of these are quite different than the risks associated with a tabletop game.
We've taken on a lot of the expense of building BattleCON Online already, but what we need to make this project successful, even more than money, is players. By pledging to join BattleCON Online and play with your friends around the world, you're helping to bring the game to life with your time and energy, not just your pledge money.
We recognize that there are tons and tons of online games that you could be playing, and we appreciate you investing your time in ours. Thanks for partnering with us to make BattleCON Online a premiere online competitive card game experience!

Risks and challenges
We've been in the business of making tabletop games for 5 years now, but BattleCON Online is our first large, organized effort to break into the video game scene. We've been working for about a year and a half now to make this app great, and we've considered not just graphics and gameplay, but optimizing the experience of online play to take advantage of the strengths of the platform, and to avoid some of its pitfalls.
We are mostly finished with the game engine, and all we need is to implement more fighters and do a bunch of beta testing, which we hope that you'll join and help us out with. We also want to include a number of new modes and characters (which are not stretch goals, but simply part of the core project, to be released after beta), and we hope that you'll be there to help guide us with your input on which of these things to prioritize.
Over 5 years and nine different Kickstarter projects, we've proven that we're capable of making great games, and finishing and delivering the projects that we start. Even if there are delays or difficulties, with your support, we'll pull through and make it happen.
