Little Background Info:
name is Michelle Cronk and yes, it’s true, I used to weigh 300 pounds. It took
15 long years to lose 170 of those pounds but they are gone for good. I didn’t
really need them. They were only in the way and it was past time to let them
learned a lot during those 15 years, a lot about food, nutrition, food politics,
cooking, gardening and exercise. I learned, that like most things in life,
losing weight has a strong mind/body connection. Turned out that changing my
thoughts was just as important to my success as changing my diet. The best
thing I learned? I learned to laugh. Life is meant to be enjoyed, no matter
is Let’s Start Fresh?
my life began to change, I dreamed of helping others with their goals. I may
not have all the answers but if I can prevent a few tears in the world by
sharing what worked for me, then this adventure was worth it. There are many
things to share but perhaps one of the most important is a simple concept I
learned to embrace: Today is a new day. It might sound overly simplistic but
it’s true. Yesterday is finished and cannot be changed, no matter how many
tears are shed. Yesterday is over, so you might as well take a deep breath,
forgive yourself and move on. But while yesterday is over and cannot be
changed, today is a new day, a day perfect for a new start! That philosophy is
the basis for Let’s Start Fresh,
a company formed to share all the tips, tricks and information gained over the
past 15 years.
Let’s Start Fresh, I began giving speeches around New York City to any group
who would have me. My audiences have been filled with folks craving practical
advice. They want to know how I lost the weight, what to eat, where to find
quality ingredients, recipes that taste good and don’t take a week to make.
They love stories about hidden ingredients in their food, what their grocery
store produce goes through before it gets to them, what is not on their food
labels, as well as what is. They ask all kinds of questions about fun ways to
get moving and they listen intently when the conversation turns to why we gain
weight to begin with.

adore speaking with people about losing weight. I love being a role model and
giving folks hope that they too can make major changes in their lives. Sometimes
that’s all it takes, a role model, someone who has walked in your shoes.
Reaching people through public speaking has been wonderful and I can’t wait to
do more. But finding a way to reach a much wider and larger audience has
become important. A lifestyle webseries for Let’s Start Fresh, offering
practical advice, many stories, a lot of cooking and a whole lot of laughs,
seemed like the logical next step.
Will the LSF Webseries Bring?
plan to bring you episodes that are fun and practical. We will cook with local
chefs and at home; visit farmer’s markets, food markets, farms and local food
producers; explore the local food movement and learn why it’s good for us;
learn how to eat in a restaurant; garden with the experts (both in the city and
out); learn how to read food labels and take our knowledge to the local grocery
store; do great work-outs in a local park; go dancing, kayaking, bowling,
biking, hiking and any other kind of fun that gets us moving. On some episodes
we will learn to reward ourselves for our progress. We will have episodes
devoted to make-over’s and tips on how to restock clothes closets
inexpensively. After going from a size 24 to a size 2, I have many
Kickstarter, We Love You!!
our project to Kickstarter made perfect sense and we are so excited!!
We’re looking forward to making new friends and we can't wait to get feedback
and comments from the Kickstarter community. If you decide this is a worthwhile
project and choose to support us, you will receive our undying love and
loyalty, plus a cool reward. We’ve had a lot of fun putting the rewards
together. It’s become a family project. My mother, Lois Cronk, is making gorgeous wine bags
from lush recycled fabrics (velvets, brocades, silks), perfect for wrapping up those hard-to-hide bottles of
vino. These wine bags are a limited edition and will only be produced for this project. Several rewards are small batch, artisanal specialties from my kitchen,
including salad dressings, sundae sauces and specialty cocktail syrups. We’ve
included opportunities for personal consults, sponsorship opportunities,
speaking engagements and dinner for you and your friends. And if you decide you
really believe in us, we will create an episode of Let’s Start Fresh around

Who is Let's Start Fresh?
While I may know a thing or two about losing weight, making a video was another story. Fortunately, I have friends with skills who believed in me and this project.
Let's Start Fresh has expanded to include good friends Tameeka Ballance, Chris Cortes,
Ilene Robinette, Steve Ernenwein and Jessica Bennett, to create the Let’s Start Fresh
webseries. Tameeka is the host of her own Youtube
webseries, TameekaTime. Her Youtube channel, TameekaB, features videos she has shot and edited for other people. In her spare time, Tameeka is a
videographer, editor, foodie and an overall great person. Fortunately for me and this project, Tameeka introduced me to internationally renowned graffiti and graphic artist, Chris Cortes of
CortesNYC and CortesCreates. Chris came on board, adding his skills as cameraman, editor,
graphic artist and most importantly, video shoot therapist. Additional
graphics and therapy sessions have been provided by good friend and
longtime illustrator/graphic artist, Ilene Robinette of Steven Edsey and
Sons in Chicago. Music was provided by producer Steve Ernenwein and
much needed make-up lessons were supplied by the lovely actress, Jessica
Bennett. This project would not have happened without them and I
will be forever grateful for their hard work, support, knowledge and
you Kickstarter community for giving us a shot!!
