If You Lived Here is the third film by Leslie Kwon. Our media sponsor is the Pacific Northwest's Caffe Vita, ensuring that this movie will have an audience. Through them, we could even have a huge premiere (30,000 people) for the film at Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, alongside the Flaming Lips, Girl Talk, etc.
The story is a portrait of two specific people meeting at a specific time in their lives. It begins with Emilia, a guarded character who works at a coffeeshop, charming her way into getting a free, old desk from a random customer. While looking the desk over at his apartment, she comes to realize the emotional parallels between them.
If You Lived Here studies the subconscious motivations for people's actions. If someone were lonely, in what ways would that get manifested in their daily decisions? Would they look for a connection through getting free furniture - and if not free furniture, then some other sort of mundane reason?
This movie was conceptualized almost a year ago by the producer, David Woolner, and director Leslie Kwon. We have an award-winning cinematographer, Matthew Mendelson, art direction by The American Reader's Cindy Ho, production design by Aaryn Polzer, and costume design by Tess Money.
With an unusual point of view, If You Lived Here diversifies the representation of female Asian identity and talent in the film community. We have a Korean-American director, Chinese-American art director, Korean-American costume designer, and Japanese-Australian lead actress. We're also working with Ran Space, an entirely unique, progressive arts center in Williamsburg that brings together film, music, dance, parties, and the Asian community in New York City and beyond.
Now just one month away from beginning shooting, we really need your help. $7,000 is the minimum to cover our necessary costs, like equipment, locations, food, and props. We also plan to submit to several film festivals (SIFF, AAIFF, KAFFNY, etc.) and have a screening in New York, which you could be invited to!
We would really appreciate any donation you can make, or please share our project with friends who may be interested! Thank you!

The team behind "If You Lived Here" have known each other for years and worked together on other productions - big and small. There will always be unexpected obstacles in the process of making a film, but because we've committed ourselves to the project and because we're experienced, we will find a way to get to that finish line as we always have!
