Blocknation : A modern monopoly family game
A modern twist on an old school game.Conquer the board before your opponents. The more you're in control the more control you have.
My game is a modern twist on the old school game of monopoly. It has the same concept go around the board and conquer the most blocks but this game has twists.
The board itself has ups and down from landing in jail, to paying a fee for every block you own, to winning the lottery, or even winning another player's block.
On top of the board events players themselves have cards called Block Cards that can change the outcome of the game. The cards go from sending a player to jail, to restraining a player so they can only use one die, to cards that can move you to select blocks.
The game round summary pretty much goes like this. Players start with 3 block cards (can only use 1 at the beginning of your turn), 2 takeover card(can be used to force a block to be yours), and blux (used as payment when you land on another player's block).
First player gets to use a block card before the dice roll, If they like to use a block card (optional). When they land on a block if that block is not owed and can be owned they place one of their color blocks on it.
Second player goes and they can decide if they want to use a block card. They roll the dice and move forward. If they land on the other players block they pay the block owner. If they do not but instead land on a color block not owned by anyone they place a block color of theirs.
If anyone lands on colorless block (white) these cannot be owned, instead you draw a block card from the pile. Other blocks that cannot be owned have words on them usually describing what to do refer to booklet. Example: If you land on jail you must pay to get out, wait three turns, or roll a luck roll (rolling the same number on both dice) to release you.
You win when you're the last player standing, you lose when you owe more blux than you have.
The game is all set and the designs are done. I just need a couple more tweaks on the amounts of what goes into the actual game box. So numbers might vary from what's on the reward. It can go up or down depending on how testing goes.
Risks and challenges
I only have the booklet left to complete, but that won't take long at all. As for everything else I already have a vendor and designs. I only need a min of 100 boards to get a good deal. So I can pass the savings onto kickstarter.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
