Here at Leodis Games we love games. We love playing them, we love talking about them, we love painting the models for them and we love coming up with mat designs that enhance your games.
And we love the look of 8th edition 40K. We're showing our age now but we remember Rogue Trader and 2nd edition and we haven't been as excited about an edition of 40k since then!
One of the only issues we've noticed about 8th ed is deployment. Now don't get us wrong the new Deployment Maps look ace (have you seen the Easter Egg GW left in them yet?) but they're going to slow down deployment. The three new Maps in paticular are going to take you ages to deploy in.
Look at Front-Line Assault. You deploy up to 27" across the board in a triangle. How long is that going to take you to map out on your board with dice?
And of course the more time you spend putting dice down on the table or trying to line up two tape measures perfectly so you can deploy the less time there is to actually play your game.
That's why we're running this Kickstarter, By printing the Deployment Maps directly onto the Mat you can save yourself so much time in deployment. And it's much more accurate. These mats are great for tournaments. They give you more time to game and you don't have to worry about accidentally placing a unit to far forward.
Which is why we offer the Tournament Organiser (TO)/ Club/ Shop packs. Not only are they fantastic value for money but they're a life saver for organised play!
So what about the mats? Well they're PVC which means they're near indestructible. We can even print your own logo or text on them for you. And because we have printing partners in both the US and the UK you won't be hit with any costly import fees!
We've already run one Board Matz Kickstarter and we're delighted to say that not only was it a success but we may be the only tabletop gaming Kickstarter ever to deliver before time! Yes that's right we were 1100% funded and still delivered before we said we would ( and if your wondering we only gave ourselves two months to deliver).
How did we do this? Well it's simple. We are a professional company and we value you our backers. Why would we promise you something that we couldn't deliver?
So lets look at our mats.
These are all images of a section of the mat at full size (100% zoom if your viewing on a computer screen) rather than the entire mat. There are a few reasons for this. You get to see the Matz in detail and I’ve found that any pattern that's designed to look good on a 6’x4′ board inevitably looks like a magic eye image when shrunk down onto a screen.
You might have noticed that we had more designs on our original Kickstarter than we do here. That's because some of our designs suit the aesthetics of other systems a lot more than the Grim Darkness of 40K. If there's a mat design that's not here that you want just let us know and we'll print it for you.
We've created the Deployment Maps to print onto the mats so that you get an accurate deployment in each game.We suggest you have the complete deployment map set printed onto the mats.
However this is your mat. If you just want the one Deployment Map printing on, or maybe just the three new ones we can do that for you. Just let us know what you want.
How do I get one of your mats?
We've tried to make our Kickstarters as easy as possible for you. So all you have to do is pledge for the mat/s you want. As soon as the Kickstarter ends we'll send you out a survey to collect details like your name and address. At that point we'll ask you to decide which design you want.
We want to keep this Kickstarter simple. It's how we manage to deliver on time. So there's only one Stretch Goal.
When we reach £500 we'll add the option to have the seven Narrative Play deployment maps printed onto your mat.
Our Super Awesome Competition
That's the only stretch goal we're adding but we wanted to give you all a reason to encourage your friends to back us as well. So we're running a competition through the duration of the KIckstarter.
For every £500 pledged we're going to give one of you your pledge for free!
All you have to do to enter is to share this Facebook Post or this Tweet. Everytime you do you'll be entered into the draw and at the end of the Kickstarter we'll draw to see who wins. You can find full details here.
Risks and challenges
In keeping with our ethos of delivering excellent customer service to all of our customers we've kept the risks associated with this project as small as possible.
Our designs have been created.
We have tested printing partners for both the UK and the USA (remember no import charges if you buy in the States!). Both of our printers are well respected and established companies but we must acknowledge the possibility of them ceasing trading. We have back ups in place should this happen.
And so we come to our main risk/ challenge and that's delivering on time. Everyone knows that this can be an issue with Kickstarters. We were tempted to add a ridiculously long delivery date on the project to give us plenty of breathing room after the project ends but we decided against this. Afterall if you buy something you want it as soon as possible, not in six months time.
Instead we've invested in extra computers and have trained more people in order delivery.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
