About this project
The LenzO® is the safest, most user-friendly underwater iPhone case on the market. It lets you take high-quality photos and videos down to 330 feet (100 meters) underwater. Each one is individually assembled and pressure-tested by our team, and it is the only iPhone housing that lets you use your iPhone's camera app underwater just like you would on land, letting you take your vacation to the next level.
Designed to switch between: Time-lapse, slo-mo, video, photo, square, panoramic, as well as zoom, iris, AF/AE lock, changing frame rates, settings, resolutions...the list goes on. LenzO® is the only underwater housing for iPhone that lets you create, without limits.
Imagine exploring the underwater depths and discovering a school of friendly fish, colorful coral, and sunken treasure! With the LenzO®, your underwater adventure can now be 100% documented. You can upload your underwater odyssey to social media the moment you get out of the water!
Here at ValsTech, we understand that your smartphone’s safety is your first priority. That’s why our LenzO® underwater housings are assembled one at a time at our facility in Montreal. Each one is pressure tested then sent to quality control, to make sure that your smartphone is completely safe.
It has a unique locking mechanism designed to keep your phone safe better than any other housing. The LenzO® is safe, reliable and easy to pack, so transporting it is a breeze. Whether you're snorkeling or diving a colorful reef or just taking an underwater selfie for Dad, the LenzO® underwater housing is the product to have.
We made sure that the LenzO® for the iPhone 7 floats so you can never lose it overboard, and each LenzO® is tested down to 330 feet. Unlike traditional professional underwater cameras, you can easily toggle between different color correction filters.
The LenzO® is incredibly user-friendly and has Photo, Video, Panorama and Slo-mo features all just a thumb’s swipe away. It is the only underwater smartphone housing that is compatible with the iPhone’s native camera app. In other words, there are no additional apps to download.
Our LenzO® for the iPhone 7 Plus is machined from a solid block of aluminum. It has a hard coated, anodized ceramic finish and is able to withstand depths past 100 meters. It's a durable piece of dive technology that's designed for the serious underwater photographer and cinematographer, to be used as their everyday workhorse in the field.
The iPhone 7 Plus' stunning 4K video requires the highest quality material to guarantee its safety and maintain its incredible imaging. Assembled and designed by our experienced team in Montreal, Canada, our 7 Plus housing is something special.
We are in the process of developing accessories for our LenzO® housings. These include replaceable 120° wide angle lenses, a grip/light tray with a trigger system, sunshade and an underwater tripod.
We've teamed up with Lume Cube (portable, durable, powerful lights for photo and video devices) to widen the LenzO®'s broad range of capabilities and features . Our dual tripod mounts allow for our housing to be compatible with most third-party grips, lights and mountable accessories.
There are several third-party apps that have been specifically designed to be used with the LenzO®. ReefID can be used to identify marine life while underwater, while Land & Sea can be used to easily color correct your underwater shots once you're back on land.
We have a collaboration with Jean-Michel Cousteau and the Ocean Futures Society. Like his famed father Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel strives towards marine conservation, a goal that we admire and wish to support. The Ocean Futures Society blue LenzO® housing has been designed to spread awareness of his foundation and to help encourage respect for our oceans through their exploration and appreciation.
"When it comes to making your smart device less resistant to water damage, the market is full of options... But new startup ValsTech wants to take things one step further with the LenzO® by allowing your iPhone to go hundreds of feet deep, making it one of the best diving camera available on the market.
I had the opportunity to explore the functionality of the LenzO® myself, and it performed flawlessly. The case is easy to use, and thanks to some cleverly designed capacitive pads and switches, you can even manipulate iPhone functionality while underwater. I used it for instructional diving with students to help show them where they can improve on technique, and it made a great companion for capturing those great diving moments with friends. As a bonus, you can now directly upload photos to the internet because all the photos are already on your phone. It's a brilliant combination.Honestly, this thing is so good, I have no idea why someone didn't invent it sooner."
ValsTech, Inc. is named after one of its founders: underwater housing pioneer Valentins Ranetkins. Val is the founder of the industry-known manufacturing companies Amphibico and Aquatica. He is also known for designing the first underwater housings for National Geographic.
Five-time Emmy Award-winning underwater cinematographer Anthony Lenzo co-founded ValsTech with Val and his team to create the most advanced underwater housing for iPhone ever made. Never before has an underwater housing allowed full control of all native iPhone camera functions, with the best optics available for incredible 4k shooting!
Over the past year, ValsTech Inc. has produced a small quantity for the iPhone 6/6s. The purpose was to receive feedback, improve features, and increase durability. The ValsTech staff is now ready to move forward with the latest and best version of its underwater housing technology.
Risks and challenges
The risks related to the unit designs and sea trials, that tested the reliability and picture quality of the LenzO® prototypes, are behind us. The next challenge is to make people aware of the benefits of the LenzO®. Thereafter we will need to scale up our supply chain and our manufacturing capability which will be needed as the expected demand for the LenzO® housings grows.
