ABOUT LE MARAIS CHOCOLAT
Le Marais Chocolat creates small batch, hand-dipped chocolate truffles using organic Fair Trade Certified chocolate, organic cream and other locally sourced, organic ingredients to create delicious, rustic, handcrafted truffles.

Our concept is simple; make truffles for chocolate connoisseurs who care about incredible taste, organic ingredients, fair trade practices, the environment and giving back - all in one little truffle!

HOW THE MONEY WILL BE USED
I am reaching out to the Kickstarter community to help with the funds that will enable us to use the Fair Trade Certified logo on our packaging and get into the local farmer's markets!
We want to be able to put the logo front and center, to help create more awareness for Fair Trade and why Fair Trade matters, especially with chocolate. (If you want to learn more about Fair Trade and chocolate, visit www.facts-about-chocolate.com/fair-trade-chocolate And to learn more about why I'm such a fan of Fair Trade, visit www.fairtradeusa.org/what-is-fair-trade.)
Funds will also be used to participate in the local farmer’s markets so we can get our chocolates out there.

HOW IT BEGAN
This chocolate adventure started two years ago out of my personal passion for cooking, Fair Trade chocolate, dreaming up flavor combinations, and my desire to help after the earthquake in Haiti. Among other fundraising efforts, I began selling truffles to friends and family at the holidays as a way to raise funds for BLU MOON Foundation’s Haiti Orphanage Adoption Program (HOAP). Through our fundraising efforts, including truffles sales, we've been able to help orphanages in Haiti with clean water, food and other needed supplies (like the school uniforms below). We even went and renovated an orphanage!

This last holiday season, friends, and friends of friends, started buying truffles in larger numbers, 60 here, 100 there, one friend in Texas ordered 15 dozen. And over and over I heard, “these are better than (fill in your favorite high-end chocolate here). You should really do this as a business” so I decided to make it official and launch Le Marais Chocolat in January 2012, with a little (lot) of help from my friends!
And right out the gate, I’ve received great feedback and orders of chocolate from some local retailers.
Here’s what a professional chef and Le Marais fan, Tina Termsomket, had to say about our truffles:
“Wish you could have seen my friends' faces while they were devouring the truffles! Explicit and exquisite!!!”

And in our very first week in business, we took some truffles to a local specialty food shop to sample and they ordered 50 boxes on the spot.
Please feel free to send me any questions you may have; I'd be happy to talk with you about my plans. Thanks very much, and I hope you’ll check out our truffles at www.lemaraischocolat.com.
