KS update #231,421,255.001

FINALLY! LARRY INVADES APPLE STORE!

Great News

It's official! Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is now for sale in the iOS App store and Mac store. Finally! We submitted the game on June 27th, but heard almost nothing until yesterday, when it went live. Sales have been healthy so far and the game has a 4-star rating! Remember: if you like the game, be sure to rate it – everywhere! The more positive reviews we have, the more we'll interest others in buying a copy and that's the only way we're going to get to make Leisure Suit Larry 2.

Some Bad News

Something happened with our upload to the Android store and the version that's there now is bad. N-Fusion is working on the problem and thinks it's a simple fix but we won't know until we can find and fix the problem. So if you're looking for an Android version, please bear with us a little longer. It won't be long now. (Hey. That's what Larry said!)

When do I get my digital download?

When do the t shirts get shipped????????

I know the shipping charges for my swag were seriously under-priced in the tier info so do all you can to minimize them. Good to know they won't arrive during the next week, when I'm not at home.

Damn dude, that comment should have been an update! ;p

Thanks for all the awesome info! I look forward to all the goodies.

For this next bit let me first say...I DO NOT THINK WE SHOULD GET THE IOS VERSION FOR FREE. With that said, there are ways to do it outside that 50 promo thing you mentioned. There's a company that has been giving out 1 free game a month. What happens is, I get an email with a link. That link takes me to a website that gives me a code. I can either cut and paste that code into iTunes or I can click on it and it takes me to iTunes and inputs it for me. Once I accept the agreement, iTunes then downloads the game. I can only imagine how many HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of people click those thinks. So unless they are paying for every single download???? I dunno, that seems like it would be a lot of wasted money to pay for their own game. Some of them have been $4.99.

Thanks for the update on the physical goods. It's not that I want them now, but now the game is finished it's nice to know how the progress is going with those. So thank you and I don't mind if you get them to me in August or September. It's just nice to know how things are going with it. A post about it would nice i guess so everyone knows.

    6. Creator Phillip M. on July 19, 2013

      Awesome update Mr. Trowe!

    7. Creator Alexis Bietti on July 19, 2013

I too didn't understand at first that we backers would have to pay for the iPad version. But frankly with the discount price it's not that much of a problem. And I'm willing to throw a little more money at you when you talk about the possibility of making Larry 2. Cheers all and have fun, it's what it's all about.

Grr Kickstart comments. Apologies for the double post.

I'm no games biz executive, but there are many ways to do it if you had a mobile strategy from the start. For example a Free - but limited - LSL that could be unlocked to the full game via the backer website login. A similar thing to Kindle, Spotify, and many other apps. Would be a great way to promote the game too, by giving a free level.
Another way could be what Carmageddon did (also backed here on Kickstarter) did: simply have the game free on the app store for 24h/48h.
But then again anyone moaning about paying an extra £2.99 to get a full adventure game on a different device that was not part of the deal is just hard to please and probably never be happy with anything.

Are you going to do something like Carmageddon (alson backed here on Kickstarter) where they had the game free on the app store for 24h/48h?

      Would be great promotion.

      @Rolf
'There must be a way to support your backers even at the App Store.'
Well there isn't. Apple has always been uptight about it. That's also the reason I don't buy their products. At least thank you for backing this, because of you I can enjoy my 'free' game and you can enjoy your iPad. ^.^

    12. Creator Rolf on July 19, 2013

At the very beginning you told us the game will be available for iPad. It was not mentioned backers have to pay for this release. This was the reason why I have pledged. I am only interested in the iPad version. Now you tell me I have thrown my 100 bucks away because I have to pay twice. I really do not care about the technical stuff with apple. There must be a way to support your backers even at the App Store. I will not pay for the iPad version and I will for sure not support any project of you anymore. I am really pissed off.

    13. Creator Replay Games on July 19, 2013

Hey everybody, Paul Trowe here!! Let me clear a few things up for all these great questions, all of them!!

      a) Apple only gives us 50 promo codes and doesn't allow us (we have to sign a contract every time we request a code) that they won't go to end users, only to people who will promote the game, hence the term "promo code". We knew this even before launching the Kickstarter so that's why we couldn't only give you PC, Mac, or Linux versions for DRM free or Steam.

      2) Al wrote the update in an *extreme* emergency since it was 12 hours after we released the Android version and pretty much everything that could go wrong did, so I forced N-Fusion to pull it down and said "let's ship it when it's ready, just like the other platforms" Clearly it's not ready and in panic mode, Mr. Al "Larry's baby daddy" Lowe completely missed out on our 69th update. Maybe we'll get it right on update 6969. :)

      3) The mobile version for iOS is not only worth the $4.99 we're charging, it's actually worth $19.99 since that's what everybody on PC/MAC/Linux are paying for. We wanted to charge higher but a) nobody would buy it because mobile users have this mindset of anything more than $.99 is not worth buying AND you can't get the 16x9 full screen graphics with the iPad and iPhone versions. However, a game you purchase AND like for $4.99 lasts longer (your entire life) than any foo-foo coffee drink (yes, I drink them too) you buy at your local Starbucks or coffee shop that lasts less than 10 minutes.

      4) We have all the Kickstarter goodies at my house taking up my entire garage (have you seen the pictures on Facebook?) and my downstairs living room. The problem was, the entire team of more than 50 people working on this game were, well, focused on getting the game out to you first, which is what we thought you wanted. So, now that we've delivered MOST of the platforms (we're having issues with Android AND making a patch for Russian, Polish, totally brand new scoring system, ability to change the language in the game, and Facebook and Twitter integration), we're finally able to invite 90% of the people down to Austin to pack and ship everything in the middle of August. I'm hoping we can ship them the week after but since we didn't charge enough for delivery of the items (for example international delivery is actually costing $23 per box for the lowest tier), it's costing us a total of $57,500 to ship everything, we need to use a "shipping consolidator" that gets bulk rate on shipping hundreds of thousands of mail items every week, both nationally and internationally. But don't worry, all your goodies are safe and sound and everybody will get what they paid A LOT of good money for.

We really are at the tail end of this project and it's been A LOT of hard work, even for all the volunteers that have given WAY MORE than they signed up for since the game wound up costing 2x as much than we took in but I used the money we got from our History Channel Game called Top Shot (for iOS), to subsidize the rest of the game because I have NEVER gone back on my word and I never will. If you look at my LinkedIn profile page (www.linkedin.com/in/ptrowe) that is why you'll see so many people have recommended working with me, because I care so much about every single person I make contact with and will go to the end of the earth to deliver what I say I will deliver. Now, as a result of that, I really HOPE TO GOD/UNIVERSE it does well because we are "all in" on this one. Not only do we need to make our money back, but we need enough to survive to give you our FreeToPlay Leisure Suit Larry poker game and LSL2: Reloaded without having to do a Kickstarter. Trust me, I don't want you to have to pledge more of your money and tie up more of your paycheck if I don't have to.

In closing, I have to give the highest accolades to the entire team without whom, this game would NEVER have been completed: Al Lowe (for doing it), Josh Mandel (for making it funny and producing it which he said he would NEVER do), Jeff Birns (the CEO of N-Fusion who did 10x the work we paid him for), and here are the people you'll probably never hear their names but put in CONSTANT 20 hour days to deliver the best game we possibly could: Jeff Hillary, Britton Mathews, Tom King, Justin McMenamin, Serena Nelson, Jeroen Deckers, Kris Malinski (the guy pulling 36 hour days to get you the patch as fast as possible), a TON of people I'm probably forgetting (since I haven't slept since yesterday and will call me pissed off) and all of our amazing alpha and beta testers (AND THE BEST MODERATORS ON THE PLANET EARTH), without whom, we would not have such a clean product..

I have never, in my entire life, been more grateful to have had such an amazing team to lead through thick and thin, bugs and fixes, laughs and arguments, hiring and firing, and everything else just to make a bunch of dedicated fans just like YOU laugh and try to forget about how hard life is, if just for a mere 20 minutes or so.

You guys are the best community of Kickstarter backers EVER and my appreciation for getting Larry's good name out of the gutter thanks to the likes of Vivendi and their horrible XBOX 360 games.

      Yours, most gratefully,
      -Paul

If I recall right, we were going to receive a link to download the game on Steam? Has this been sent?

    15. Creator Mikkel Georgsen on July 18, 2013

This was probably the worst Larry update so far:

      1) It's update #69 for christ sake!!
      2) and you could have said 'bare with us' in the end in real Larry style :D

Good news on the iOS stuff, waiting for the Android one :)

    16. Creator Raymond Wong on July 18, 2013

Please update us people who pledged for the physical stuff. I promised myself only to play the game from the physical copy of CD/DVD

    17. Creator Phillip M. on July 18, 2013

When are the physical rewards going to be sent?

    18. Creator Justin on July 18, 2013

@Evgeni - What about it? I think you might have missed a couple updates.

      Same for you Tobias.

    19. Creator Evgeni Petrov on July 18, 2013

      What about PC version?

    20. Creator Tobias Prell on July 18, 2013

Now for sale? I never got my copy. Did i miss something? :/

    21. Creator Justin on July 18, 2013

"Finally! We submitted the game on June 27th, but heard almost nothing until yesterday, when it went live."

Did someone tell you otherwise? That's pretty normal. Usually about 3 weeks.

    22. Creator Mike Villasuso on July 18, 2013

Update 69 had to be something special!! :)

    23. Creator Michael Wermers on July 18, 2013

Any update on the mailed items?

    24. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on July 18, 2013

@IPadCary: Sorry, but iOS copies aren't part of the reward structure. If you want a mobile version you'll have to buy it.

@Anthony: Go here to claim your Steam key: https://forums.replaygamesinc.com/viewtopic.php…

    25. Creator Anthony DiSanti on July 18, 2013

I must have missed the part where I was sent a steam key. How do I go about getting access to the game? I'm a $15 backer. Thanks.

    26. Creator iPadCary on July 18, 2013

As a backer, I get a free copy of the iPad game. So how do I go about getting it?

    27. Creator Ivan Karpan on July 18, 2013

My bad, meant to say Tim. O_o

    28. Creator Ivan Karpan on July 18, 2013

Well if it is #69 Tom here apparently feels left out out of the action.

    29. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on July 18, 2013

I'm totally with Tom and Riggo here. C'mon, it's a perfect time to crack a joke.

    30. Creator Riggo on July 18, 2013

Got to agree with Tom here... You missed the boat on update 69!!!!

    31. Creator Frank Donato on July 18, 2013

I'm gonna point out that the only reason it's not rated 5 stars is one dumb ass who can't read properly and rated the game 1 star and another who rated it 1 star but left no review, blatantly a troll. You'd almost never find a game in this day and age deserving a 1 star.

    32. Creator Ivan Karpan on July 18, 2013

I would frankly ditch the Steam multi-platform key for an iOS promo code... Tough luck, will pay for it yet again to play comfortably.

    33. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on July 18, 2013

About the mobile version, you'll have to purchase it as they weren't part of the rewards. Unless Al, Paul, or Josh say otherwise that's the official answer.

    34. Creator ldacruz on July 18, 2013

My question goes into the same direction as David Nielsen's: Any change to swap digital copy of the game for (mac/pc/linux) into a code for the AppStore?

    35. Creator David Nielsen on July 18, 2013

Any hope that backers who so desire can get a redemption code for the Mac App Store or iOS App Store.

I would strongly prefer keeping all my games in the Apple App Store ecosystem. It keeps them up to date without effort on my part and I found that for adventure games I prefer to play them on my iPad. Hence the request, though I know that doing so will require paying Apple a certain amount of money and as such might prove cost prohibitive at scale.

    36. Creator Krom on July 18, 2013

69! Wohoo! You really should have had your release post be number 69. ;D

It's totally normal for ios app submissions to take that long, or even longer. Could have told you beforehand. ;) Good to hear it's finally in the store.

    37. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on July 18, 2013

@DarthDavy: The physical goodies should be packed and ready to ship within the first couple weeks of August. I'd expect a delivery date around the end of that month.

    38. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on July 18, 2013

@pilgrim23: Wait. Are you complaining about having to buy a mobile version or that the link to download a copy from your backer portal was broken? If it is the former then they were never part of the rewards. If it was the latter, then you need to contact Replay's customer service center.

    39. Creator Mikhail Zakharenkov on July 18, 2013

      YES! YES!

What's about patch for PC version? (Russian language)

    40. Creator DarthDavy on July 18, 2013

So what about an update with information about our physical rewards?

    41. Creator Tom King on July 18, 2013

      *thee
      *me
      Take your pick.

    42. Creator Tom King on July 18, 2013

      @pilgrim23
Oh cry the a fucking river.

    43. Creator pilgrim23 on July 18, 2013

so, as a backer I now can purchase a copy of the game? (the link I got for it never worked) Seems to me next time it would be better to just A wait and purchase or B pirate it like the good old days.

    44. Creator Tom King on July 18, 2013

Blasphemy! You missed the opportunity to make perverted joke, being this is Update #69.

    45. Creator Tim on July 18, 2013

What's about patch for PC version?
