Update Update! STEAM changes our plans... 6-26-2013

An important update to the update we just posted!

Steam has informed us that, since they would prefer that there actually be humans in their offices when a new game is released, the game will NOT be going live on Steam until 10:00am PDT tomorrow.

However, the games will still be available on the Replay Games website as of midnight tonight PDT.

Just want to say Thank You for your work. It's always a pleasure to see a KickStarter project finish successfully.

I wonder how Al Lowe feels now, when Larry is available online and Tim Schafer cries for more money after spending all from his 834%-bigger-than-requested budget? :D

    3. Creator TrueStoryGuy on June 30, 2013

Downloaded the game earlier, I had a lot of fun playing it. Really hope the game sells well enough that you do not have to kickstart your next game!

    4. Creator John Rockefeller on June 29, 2013

Nevermind! I refreshed and it showed up.

    5. Creator John Rockefeller on June 29, 2013

Missed that this launched the other day but when I signed up and got into my Replay Games panel the Steam keys popup is empty. Halp?

    6. Creator Henrik on June 29, 2013

Hi there from Germany! Is there a way to use english subtitles? Thanks! Danke!

    7. Creator Matt French on June 29, 2013

This was a pain to download but here is how to access all the download links. Thanks to Guido.

      Guido 1 day ago

I've got to say, it wasn't easy and there could have been cleaner and less confusing ways of doing it.

Anyway, this is what you have to do.

      STEP 1: Go here https://www.replaygamesinc.com/kickstarter
STEP 2: Put your kickstarter email account and resend yourself the kickstarter key.
STEP 3: Go to your email and get the kickstarter key.
STEP 4: Go back to https://www.replaygamesinc.com/kickstarter now put your kickstarter email and the key you got, hit login.
STEP 5: Input all the relevant registration information and sing up to replay games.
STEP 6: GO to https://www.replaygamesinc.com and log in with your new user.
STEP 7: Check your user profile and you should be able to see different download buttons for all of your kickstarter pledges, hopefully.

      GOOD LUCK

It's a shame there is so much confusion on how to get the game. As stated before I've jumped through similar hoops with other games. In the end it's about controlling the digital release process.
This will become a lot easier for future releases as people will be able to buy the game through the portal where they need to register first. After that a link will be sent once the game is done. It's unfortunate that KS doesn't have a great portal where this can easily all be taken care of. We all need to go through vendor websites to grab the required information.

@Guido "I've got to say, it wasn't easy and there could have been cleaner and less confusing ways of doing it."

Absolutely. This has FAIL written all over it.

      "STEP 1: Go here https://www.replaygamesinc.com/kickstarter";
      Done.

"STEP 2: Put your kickstarter email account and resend yourself the kickstarter key."
FAIL - It can't find my email address, even though it has been unchanged since I joined KS > 1 year ago.

...and we're done. No game, no soundtrack, no nothing.

      FAIL.

Oh, did I mention I emailed "customer support" and haven't heard anything, not even a "we received your email" autoreply?

      FAIL.

Filled out the "survey" with details of how their system is broken.

      FAIL.

Left a few messages here, with a low expectation of response.

      FAIL.

@snuggles: "Can someone explain how to get the key or the game without having to provide my full name, address, and phone number?!"

Who says the data has to be real? Just use:

(make sure your email is real so you can access your account)

I have a bug in the game, When I take the second Jasmin octopus, the game freeze. I can make anything. (I have the flower and liquid cat in my invatory). What I can do ?

(sorry for my langage, I am French)

    13. Creator Irawan on June 29, 2013

For a person who is staying in a country where Internet is Expensive, and download quota is limited (Only 10 GB per month), this game cost me a lot.

I have downloaded Four times and always could not finished it. It stops at around 700MB, now my download quota is 1.5 GB left.

@Replay Game: Any idea why ? I tried using download manager too, hope that I could resume, but the link is always BROKEN.

    14. Creator Tom King on June 29, 2013

@Konstantin: It sounds like you still have the Beta (or worse, the Alpha) version installed. Be sure it's uninstalled THEN re-install before playing the game.

    15. Creator Konstantin Senz on June 29, 2013

Guys, you really disappointed me. Game is of BETA quality. If this bug-swarming pos you are calling final, then you are liars. You ve obviously dont know about QA or releasing standards, or you have a laziest dev team in the world. Shame on you.

    16. Creator Harald Beer on June 29, 2013

      I want my download link.
The game can be actually bought on Steam.

    17. Creator Leo Padron on June 29, 2013

Maybe the download instructions are buried in the hint book? ;-)

    18. Creator Gary Henson on June 28, 2013

@snuggles I completely agree. Why couldn't they just email us a key for Steam if that's what we wanted to receive? Or a one-time link to download the game for the platform of our choice. I'm really not happy having to provide all those personal details for a digital reward.

    19. Creator snuggles on June 28, 2013

OK, problem solved, I just put nonsense into the address and phone fields. Still, not a great experience guys, please note my two-step process: that is what is expected in this day-and-age, not:

      - no email or notification that the game is done (I found out when I went to PC Gamer, and yes I checked my spam folder)
      - 4 or 5 step process of entering email, getting key, entering key, filling in registration (including unneeded address/phone), *re* logging in (because of course once I registered I wasn't automatically logged in), finding key page and FINALLY getting the steam key you should have just emailed to me.

Sorry for the flame, but there is just zero excuse for this. I hope you learn from this and do better next time.

    20. Creator snuggles on June 28, 2013

Can someone explain how to get the key or the game without having to provide my full name, address, and phone number?! Why would I want to have that information in *yet another* database on the internet?

This is bad, I've supported a bunch of these kickstarters and I can't remember any of them being this confusing.

Note that I was definitely *not* sent a key from replay at any time. Please guys, just get it together:

step 1: I give you money
step 2: you send me a key or a link to a download link

Please please PLEASE don't make this more complicated than it has to be.

    21. Creator Jeroen Dekkers on June 28, 2013

@David the pledges were for the PC and MAC version, not iOS. So you can download those versions but won't be able to run it on your iPad.

    22. Creator David Tresch on June 28, 2013

Help this novice please. Did all the steps to register my account. I thought I could download the game to my Ipad but Safari will not download it. Am I out of luck or doing something wrong?

    23. Creator Davor Babić on June 28, 2013

Thanks, Guido! Helped me as well!

      Thanks for the help.
I got a bit lost among the 67 updates, I hoped a clear sum up email in the end to know what to do.
      Luckily forums are helping !

    27. Creator Richard on June 28, 2013

You log onto to replay via the kickstarter portal link.

If you try and create an account on replaygamesinc.com with your kickstarter address it will give you the link. If I could remember it i would post the link here, bit it was something like replaygamesinc.com/kickstarterportal or something.

Then you press the re-send email button and it re-sends the portal key.

It took me about 5 minutes to get sorted and downloading from the beginning, and I never had my portal key that I recall either.

It's not hard, I can't see why everyone seems to have so much trouble!

    28. Creator Fummi on June 28, 2013

What if we lost the email we receives "month ago" ?

    29. Creator Leo Padron on June 28, 2013

I pledged the $15 amount for the digital copy of the game. I registered and received a code for the portal on your website. There seems to be no way to download the DRM free version of the game (or any version). I am not clear on how to get a code for Steam, nor would I want the DRM. I admit it's a bit confusing. Can you just give us the 1040EZ version of the process?

    30. Creator Jeroen Dekkers on June 28, 2013

You will not get a code in your email. You were emailed a link for the kickstarter portal a few months ago. With that link you can register and receive your pledged goods.

I've funded many KS game projects and most of them work like this. That way they keep control over the digital distribution.

    31. Creator Alex Earp on June 28, 2013

Have yet to receive my Steam code in my email, pledged $15

    32. Creator Jeroen Dekkers on June 28, 2013

For people having received a code yet, you need to read the previous update and register on the portal to receive your code.

    33. Creator Chris Poon on June 28, 2013

I just finished the game. I loved the new story arc with Jasmine, I'll admit, I got stuck several times. I didn't realize how much I missed a great point and click adventure with this style of graphics. It was nice the original tasks were not 100% the same and required additional tasks or were slightly different. Thank you Al, Josh, Paul and Austin for a great game and soundtrack! Looking forward to another LS game reloaded or new one!

    34. Creator Brian Haines on June 28, 2013

I haven't gotten a code for game but I did for music.

    35. Creator Archea47 on June 27, 2013

I, too, have yet to receive my download code. The suspense is killing me!

Such a joy to see a kickstarter game come through - I hope pre- and post-release sales go well and we see more of our favorite games "come again"

    36. Creator Chris C. on June 27, 2013

pledged the $15 amount, have not received any email with a code for STEAM yet. nothing in my spam folder either. :(

    37. Creator Travis Ellis on June 27, 2013

When I launch the game through steam it resets the resolution back to 1024x768 every time. Is there some way to persist this?

    38. Creator Replay Games on June 27, 2013

Hello! We created a customer service form if you are either having a lot of fun and want to tell us about it, or in case you are having troubles with the game. As you can imagine, we're a little swamped, but we're going to make sure that we do our best to help everyone. Here's the link, and we'd appreciate it if you'd help point others to the form. It's all about helping Larry have a great time!

PS For those of you that use Twitter, we're recommending the hashtag #LSL and let's see if we can get it trending!

    39. Creator Erlend Hoem Thordarson on June 27, 2013

Awesome!! =D I saw this today and haven't checked my kickstarter mails for a bit so had not noticed. Downloading on Steam now ^_^

    40. Creator George Hall on June 27, 2013

Loving it! This is an amazing time (for the record though, this is the second game I got from kickstart so far, but the first from an old school developer - Party of Sin is fun, but nothing to LSL). I am having a blast playing, and noticed the sign in lefty's - I was excited to see how many fellow Mutant League members backed this project as well - The old school game community (aka: Retro Gamers) is amazing, and I'm loving the game so far! Thanks Al and Replay Games, I can't wait to see your sequels, hopefully this proved something to the guys who owned Larry's rights, and they let you continue the legacy the right way!

    41. Creator Luis Bermudez on June 27, 2013

Is there a graph to see how many people are playing right now? I would love to see the numbers :)

    42. Creator Nicholas Panourgias on June 27, 2013

Hi, I donated to the kickstarter at the $15 level and I never got a code for the game. Is there any way I can get said code?

    43. Creator Laddie Ervin on June 27, 2013

I'm not the one who made it complicated.

    44. Creator Tomimt on June 27, 2013

@Laddie Ervin: You don't have to put your address there if you don't have any need for it. Just type N/A to every field you don't need and you're done. You're making this far more too complicated than it really is.

    45. Creator Konrad Okoniewski on June 27, 2013

@Brandon. Same here, after the spam of 5,000 updates and drama i turned it off. I only accidentally stumbled that is was being released because i saw a review of the game. As per my pledge it states "we’ll send you an incredibly personal, deeply heartfelt download link (via Steam or DRM free version) so that you can get the game instantly. " This has not happened, and this is what i pledged for.

    46. Creator Josep M. Pons on June 27, 2013

      I have one unique complain:

I'm from Spain... and there is no simple way to change the language to english! I have the audio, yes... but my english level needs proper subtitles, from time to time.

      Everything else: Awesome.

    47. Creator Laddie Ervin on June 27, 2013

Grimfarrow. I'm so happy for you that I'll let you have the last word. Enjoy.

    48. Creator Daniel Magnan on June 27, 2013

@Laddie Nice. It would be funny if the White House received some flyer for LSL products.

    49. Creator Grimfarrow on June 27, 2013

It took me less than 3 minutes to enter my info and get the Steam key. I dunno about you, but that seems much less time-consuming than spending time being cross about it. While you are still angry about not getting your email, I've already been playing the game for about 30 minutes. And no, you don't even have to enter your real address if all you're trying to get are the digital rewards. I didn't.

    50. Creator Laddie Ervin on June 27, 2013

Grimfarrow, it is not inappropriate. Thanks for your opinion. What is inappropriate, is having to enter a physical address to log in to receive a digital download. I'm not accusing them of anything nefarious. I assume it was just easier to make everyone enter an address rather than only requiring one for those who are receiving physical goods, so they went with that. We were told that our Steam Keys would be emailed to us. They weren't. We have to get a key, log-in, create an account with a valid address or else we can't get to the content- Not what we agreed to. It's that simple.
