About the Jabiru
Named after the large South American bird with great balance the Jabiru is a bottle top stem.
My design was meant to increase the usefulness of the Kinkajou, providing users with more unique glassware options. It's a simple idea that lead to a simple design that can make your personalized glassware a hit at any party.
With the design completed and several prototypes later, the Jabiru is ready for the world, all it needs is a small financial push of $15,000 to get the first large manufacturing run going. The Kinkajou was my first kickstarter project and with all the unique glassware produced, bottle tops were all of a sudden in great supply and I wanted to put them to use as well. I spent some time finishing the edges on the cut bottle top and came up with the idea of the Jabiru. The Jabiru is a bottle top stem that slips easily onto virtually all bottle tops to provide a leak free base. The Jabiru is designed to fit all sizes of bottles, from small to large, providing a stable base for all bottle types. All of a sudden personalized glassware options have doubled.

We need your support to start production. Upon reaching the financial goal of the project, the manufacturing will commence and all the backers will have helped to create another unique up-cycling do it yourself product.
I also wanted to take the time to thanks my wife and kids for supporting me during all the long weeks / months and travel around the world to make this a reality. I could not have done it without them.

Risks and challenges
The experience gained with the first Kickstarter project will be invaluable in the process of launching the Jabiru. I now have a strong relationship with a trusted manufacturer, experience with shipping products from overseas and in successfully promoting and selling products online. Many lessons that were learned along the way, and a strong commitment to providing a great product create the foundation upon which the Jabiru is being built. Although, I cannot fully guarantee there will be no issues in the manufacturing process, unforeseen issues can come up that could delay production. I am fairly confident everything will go smoothly, as the Jabiru is only two parts where the Kinkajou was over 70.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No, shipping is included in Canadian orders as well.
Yes, the Jabiru is for use with bottles cut with the Kinkajou.
Yes! I will do everything in my power to ensure shipping costs are kept at a minimum. These details will be accounted for in the reward surveys once the project is complete.
Using the sandpaper provided with every Kinkajou, it is fairly easy to get the edge smooth. Bringing it to a shine again requires a little more elbow grease and a finishing kit is helpful.
I estimate that the cutting wheel should be replaced after 200 cuts, however I have never had to change one yet myself.
