Risks and challenges
Every great project has its challenges. The Leguino founder Urs Markus Ernst Streidl has a demonstrated track record for successfully founding companys over 25 years. He has a degree in computer sciences and economics and has (co-)founded 8 tech companys. He is the winner of the German nation-wide Start-Up competition in 2006. He lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he cofounded one of his last ventures, BrainWaveBank LTD (one of the hottest Startups in Ireland). This venture has secured in excess of $1.5M in seed capital and R&D funding to date.
Leguino is the first project which integrates the knowledge of his own children (ages 7 and 9). They are the pros and enthusiasts at Leguino.
There are some real challenges:
One is the production of highly precise parts of plastic which have to fit neatly into the LEGO® brick world. Plus house all the additional hardware parts from the Arduino™ world. These parts are made usually from many different suppliers and they vary in size, shape and in the wide range of different electronic components – often fail to fit precisely in the size as they are specified in the data sheets. As a result, some hidden challenges may appear and it could take some days to override them.
The manufacturing pathway from prototypes to final parts is often long and complex. All prototypes are in a usable stage and carefully crafted. They are mainly made on high precision industry grade 3D printers – which guarantee the best results. The straight pathway from prototype to the final product is possible in nearly one production step.
Depending on the success of the campaign and the amount of backers and orders to deliver, this production process could run into a bottleneck, if orders exceed initial expectations.
