Into the Black Nebula!

Hi all,

First off, apologies for the long delay in posting! Obviously I was way off in hoping to finish writing this adventure in February, or March, and now it's April. A combination of outside issues, lost work in a computer crash, and good old-fashioned writer's block led me to feeling kind of like this the past couple of months when I tried grinding my way through on To Kill a Star.

For that, you have my apologies. It's all on me, nobody else. The good news is that things are finally moving again. I've gotten a ton of stat blocks built that are truly savage in their deadliness - and they'll need to be, to challenge heroes approaching 20th level! The Black Nebula is an idea that has grown in the writing of the adventure from a side quest idea to a full-fledged chapter of the adventure full of harrowing death. An adventure at this level can't just be a dungeon crawl, and I'm trying to do some interesting things with how the adventure is structured and I hope you all enjoy the final product.

In addition, Jonathan Keith and Darrin Drader have finished work on the gazetteer for the massive Dyson sphere that forms the core of the adventure. That's part of the challenge of this adventure in particular - the sheer size and scope of where it takes place. When something that is literally a million miles away is actually kind of close by in the flow of the narrative, you've got to do things a little differently.

I got a nice chunk of work done on the adventure today and it's my primary focus from now until it gets done. This will be me if I don't get this adventure done in May!

      I'm relieved to hear that it was only a near-fatal wounding!

      @Chaderick: *sniff* that's beautiful...

      But in the immortal words of the peasant from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, "I'm not dead yet!"

      @Tony: Progress is still continuing, but more slowly (obviously) than I had hoped. I'm pretty close to handing the chapter I'm working on over to the 5E team so they can start working on it while I get the rest finished.

      To take another movie quote, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming..."

      He was a good writer, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved gaming... and writing, and as a writer he explored the reaches of space, from Holver's Ferry to Vareen and... up to... the Dead God's Ribcage. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Beacon, at Pol-Nephar, at the Monastery of St. Ioh. These young men gave their lives. And so would he. He, who loved writing. And so, Writer of Legendary Games, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Dead God's Ribcage, which you loved so well.
      Good night, sweet prince.

      (With apologies to the Cohens)

      Is there a further update on likely finishing time? Or is it now just "It will be done when it's done"?

      Oh no! Must keep moving! JUST KEEP WRITING! JUST KEEP WRITING! JUST KEEP WRITING!

      Can't stop, space ribcage will eat me!

      Ummm...That last paragraph is looking pretty bleak today...
