Frequently Asked Questions
-Not directly through the kickstarter. We are offering the first chapter and prelude adventure softcovers as a pledge on this KS for backers who want to get their feet wet.
-We will offer all the chapters as print on demand (POD) softcover books on our website after each PDF is available.
-As a kickstarter backer you will be able to purchase the additional softcover chapter books at a discount on our website and through DrivethruRPG's print-on-demand service, using a special discount code.Last updated:
-We surveyed backers of our previous kickstarters and our fans on social media to see whether they preferred individual softcover chapters versus a single hardcover compilation, and the preference was nearly unanimous for a single massive compilation.
-We ultimately want to produce the entire adventure path as a hardback compilation and deliver this content to you as one grand narrative. Printing and shipping individual adventure modules does get you the individual adventures sooner but in the long run is more expensive and time-consuming than printing a single book.
-We do realize that some backers do want individual print modules, so making them available for print-on-demand is the best solution to serve the needs of all fans.Last updated:
What if the Adventure Path doesn't fund all the way? Will you still complete the AP? Why should I pledge at the beginning of the campaign for the "full" AP if I don't know it will be completed?
-We are confident in the enthusiasm for this project and our fans to fund the full project and beyond, but this is always a risk.
-Yes, we will complete the AP. This is a great story waiting to be told. If all 7 issues do not fund completely through the Kickstarter, that just means it will take longer than expected. We will be able to complete all the elements funded through the Kickstarter on schedule, and any remaining portions will be completed as we are able.
-Pledging for the full AP at the start of the campaign is important because in the world of Kickstarter, nothing succeeds like success. It shows your enthusiasm for the project but it also opens up more and more content for the project. People who are interested but inclined to sit on the sidelines until they see a sweet deal will jump on board sooner if the project is growing fast. We want this thing to blast off like a rocket, and you jumping on board early is just the booster stage we need!Last updated:
-These adventures and support articles are being designed in two versions under the Open Gaming License, one version for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and one version that is compatible with the 5th Edition of the world's most famous roleplaying game. Your heroes may encounter dungeons of various sorts in exploring these exotic planets, and there's at least one dragon, but our team of ace designers expert in on both games will work to ensure a great adventure experience regardless of which edition you prefer.
-Your can use your official 5th Edition rulebooks as you normally would with the Legendary Planet adventure path. Meanwhile, our design team will be developing our own stat blocks for brand new monsters, rules elements, and more, as well as using terrific 3rd party resources like Fifth Edition Foes and the Book of Lost Spells from Frog God Games.Last updated:
-We have set our pledge levels below what you would pay for equivalent products from Paizo Inc., which as of this summer will be charging $15.99 for PDFs of their 64-page campaign setting supplements and even more for their 96-page adventure path adventures.
-Your initial $20 pledge for The Assimilation Strain and To Worlds Unknown gets you TWO complete adventures, over 100 pages of content, plus up to 32 pages of bonus content for To Worlds Unknown.
-If you add a New Planet pledge each time a new adventure is unlocked, that $15 likewise covers the base 64-page adventure plus all bonus content (up to 96 pages per adventure).
-If you become a Legendary Planeteer, you get EIGHT adventures for just $100, an average of only $12.50 apiece, plus bonus extras throughout the campaign, versus around $135 for an equivalent collection of official PDFs. That's $35 less!
-If you become a Planetary Hero, getting the print and PDF compilations, you'd pay around $190 to get 8 equivalent official PDFs and books in softcover; you pay only $140 for all PDFs, all bonus material, and a titanic hardcover edition. That's $50 less!Last updated:
-We plan to each individual adventure available to non-backers after the next volume in the series is backers' hands. For example, non-backers will not be able to purchase To Worlds Unknown until we have released The Scavenged Codex to our backers. You'll always been one adventure ahead of the general public.
-As an exception, we will have print copies of The Assimilation Strain and To Worlds Unknown available for sale at GenCon; when they're gone, they're gone until The Scavenged Codex is available to backers.
-The final PDF and print compilation will be available to non-backers on the 1st day of the next calendar month AFTER they are released to our Kickstarter backers.Last updated:
-For those unable to use Kickstarter's pay interface, you can make your pledge directly to us by Paypal to our company email address at firstname.lastname@example.org. We've even had one or two past backers who wanted to pay by mail with a paper check, and we were happy to accommodate them. You'll receive all the same benefits as those who pledge through the Kickstarter portal.
-The above applies also for those who have a principled objection to Kickstarter as a company. Whatever your reasons, the important thing is to reach out and support creative companies making great products.Last updated:
You can choose the Interplaneteer pledge level to get PDF versions for both rules, or the Interplanetary Hero level to get all PDFs in both versions and the hardback compilation for either Pathfinder or 5th Edition.Last updated:
