A Year On...
Ciao Beloved Backers
Last Sunday was exactly a year to the day that we reached our Kickstarter target. It was also the day we put up the plaque and did our first preview screening of the film. Oh and it was also the 101st anniversary of Herbert Kilpin’s death. Not all of this is a coincidence…
The Plaque Is Up!!
The civic trust plaque that your donations helped to pay for is now up and on show at 191 Mansfield Road. It was unveiled by the Mayor on Saturday and was initially low down on the building (for ease of unveiling), but the owner of the property (Majid) has since wisely put it above the shop on the wall to keep it safe. It’s also the perfect height for passers by on the bus to see. Yay!
More Press for Herbert
- We devoted 4 pages of the October issue of LeftLion to Italian football. Read the pdf here.
- The BBC ran a story about the plaque going up here.
- Robert Nieri and Jared Wilson also made it onto the Keys and Gray show on BeIN Sports. See that here. Fast forward to 50mins in!!
Preview Screening at Broadway
The preview screening of the film went really well last Sunday. It was a packed house with over 300 people in attendance (including many of you). Thankfully the people there seemed to really enjoy it. There was also a Q&A afterwards with Robert Nieri (author), Jared Wilson (Director), Richard Williams (The Guardian), Luigi La Rocca (Historian) and Luther Blissett (ex-AC Milan and England). You can watch that and other events from the day on Facebook Live here (the film is better quality we promise).
We are showing the film in Milan next month at the FICTS Festival and we are actually up for an award there (the Mention d'Honneur). Please keep your fingers crossed for us!
Future plans/ Digital download
In the end the film has cost us a lot more than the money raised by Kickstarter (but it was worth every penny). Having consulted film professionals and distributors we will have to delay giving you all the digital download until sometime in 2018. The reasons for this are that we’ve been invited to enter it into other film festivals in 2018 (including Tribeca in New York – the film festival set up Robert De Niro). But one of the criteria for getting into these is that we cannot release the film to the public before they show it. We hope you all understand our situation here. You will get it eventually, but it will take some time.
For future updates please follow us on the Lord of Milan page on Facebook. We’ll update you occasionally on here too, but that’s the first port of call for any queries.
Thanks again for your support!
