The kickstarter is a bust but there has been a lot of interest from outside investors, to continue supporting the project and keep up-to-date sign up to our Spook Train news letter ► http://eepurl.com/SuPrH
Three kids discover the remains of the legendary Spook Train, they're about to experience why it was shut down by a moral panic. It's a dark ride with an even darker sense of humor.
Experience 10 unique nightmares made of clay. Some stories are 15 minutes long while others are a quick punch to the groin at just 30 seconds.
I developed this idea for Spook Train because I'm a huge fan of this genre and love the "the most fun you'll ever have being scared" approach to horror films, you know like Evil Dead 2 and more recently I've heard people describe films such as Sinister and Insidious as a "spook-ride-of-a-movie".
And it got me thinking, wouldn't it be cool to make a film that was literally a spook ride in every way?
A friend of mine suggested that if I truly believed in my idea then why not make a fake trailer for it and raise funds to have it made properly. So here we are.
Writer, Director & Animator - Lee Hardcastle began claymation full-time in 2010 after success with The Evil Dead in 60 seconds. The following year he sold all his belongings to support an unpaid career and created short films that screened at Cannes and won a place in the feature film ABCs Of Death. He's gone on to work with Momentum Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Sufjan Stevens, Kill The Noise, Portugal. The Man, had his fan film Claycat included on The Raid DVD and recently received the MTV Clubland Video of Year award.
A Brief History of Missing Head & Lee Hardcastle
Sound Designer, Re-recording Mixer - Tim Atkins has worked on sound for such projects as Steve McQueen's Shame and Mike Newell's Great Expectations, as well as recording dialogue for Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox. He has honed and finessed his work through a long and fruitful collaboration with Lee Hardcastle and is most proud of his work on Lee's last epic Ghost Burger.
Music Supervisor - Spencer Hickman aka. Death Waltz Records is a boutique soundtrack label releasing vinyl, CD & digital. Working closely alongside legendary composers and directors such as John Carpenter, Richard Kelly, Alan Howarth and Fabio Frizzi. And been in the biz for 25 years!
For those unfamiliar with stop motion animation, the film will take a long time to complete, over 2 years to be exact. For Kickstarter we're offering Spook Train for Halloween 2016.
The film will be 60 - 90 minutes long but duration is not the priority, the quality of the production is. We want to aim for a more beautifully crafted clay animated film and stray away from the cruder made-for-youtube examples. The larger the budget, the more we can focus on other aspects of the production that can propel a film to orgasmic heights.
It goes into the Missing Head Ltd. business bank account. The kickstarter £40k goal covers DVD/Blu Ray distribution, kickstarter fees (8 - 10% in UK), props, art materials, sets, studio fees, sound design fees and music composer fees. Initially this is what we need covered before we can begin to move forward but trust me this list can go on and on and on if we had a bigger budget to play with. The most expensive item on our list so far is 24 months' rent on a dedicated studio space.
The money does't go on expensive cameras, equipment or luxury items, we're an up and running fully functioning claymation studio and already have these at hand. Money will go into the production of Spook Train and Spook Train alone.
To be honest, our experience in film making does not go further than YouTube, not that this is a bad thing but we've no idea how films get funded or who you have to approach, we've always just done it our selves in the past. Last year I got called into a meeting with a big film company down London, I still have no idea what that was about but anyway nothing happened and that's why we're here on KickStarter!
We saw Kickstarter as our only option to pitch an idea and sell our film up front, using the sales to fund, produce and deliver the promised film..
So what excites us the most about launching a Kickstarter is that we can share our idea for the movie with everyone! Not to mention the interactivity with fans and backers, if this film gets made through kickstarter then you're gonna have a huge impact on the making of it.
If there's any way that you'd like to get involved then contact email@example.com. Even if you've got words of support or advice, hit us up. We'll be hiring talent and crew later and will give our backers the first call out.
DVDs and Blu-Rays will be professionally manufactured by http://www.mjmultimedia.co.uk/
We will be happy to answer questions or concerns much like a customer service via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or submit a FAQ.

As always, your support overwhelms me in a way I hate to admit in words on here but when I think back over the last four years it chokes me up, without you lot and the people who've blogged, voted and shared my videos, I simply would not be in the position I am today and I hope you know how grateful I am without me doing something terribly awkward, just take my word for it.
I thank you and I count my lucky stars to have made it this far.
Look, I'm gonna commit 2 years to a small dark room... it's gonna be a tough gig. I ain't gonna be able to party, go traveling, start a family. My life will be on freaking hold! It's one hell of a decision I'm prepared to make, I have to live in a cheap and small crappy apartment to make ends meet financially when I could be gallivanting in the city and earning some serious money working for big brands - but I just know that my time to be a creative lunatic is now and I may never have this chance again, it's like that scene in Star Wars, I've got a shot at the goal, I hear the force. I'm listening to the force dude and I'm going for it.
The only possible, but small, risks we can foresee are any unexpected delays to the production schedule. It’s not something we take lightly but sometimes things happen that are out of our control – staff sickness, random acts of God, fire - you know the story.
The same goes for our rewards – we've planned out the fulfillment of each one and will make every effort to stick to the delivery schedule stated.
We’ll be in regular contact with you all via our blog on LEEHARDCASTLE.COM, so you’ll be able to check up on the production on a regular basis and will be the first to know of any changes.

The whole entire movie is gonna be shot in 3D or as others know it as "real-D".
So there'll be a 3D version of this film in existence but details on it's availability can not be confirmed at this stage.
We're planning to offer a 3D version with everyone's rewards if enough sales are made to support it. Just one of many things we can begin to consider when stretch goals come into play.
We have a French translator at hand and Spanish will be our priority but details are not confirmed if these will be available with your rewards at this stage due to funding.
Another item on our list we'll pursue when stretch goals come into play.
is included in the price.
