The print will be done on deluxe and durable paper (220 g/m2). The number will of course correspond with the limited edition number of your watch. The print will be sized approx. 11" x 17" (280 mm x 435 mm). We think the print will look great when framed and hung on a wall.

Raising the bar
After two succesful campaigns in 2015 and 2016, Lebois & Co returns to Kickstarter with their last Re-launch Edition. The 3rd Re-launch Edition will not only complete our collection of three Re-launch Editions but it also raises the bar for our future watches; featuring an ultra reliable, extremely accurate and highly decorated movement visible through a transparent caseback it will be our finest and most accurate watch yet. As always this edition will be Swiss Made, mechanical and will have an automatic winding system.
Each Re-launch Edition is individually numbered and the numbers are available for you to choose from (subject to availability).
Introducing: Avantgarde Date - 3rd Re-launch Edition
The Avantgarde Date is the first model in our new collection. Inspired by former Lebois & Co collections and using some of the aesthetics of that era, the Avantgarde Date is a modern 40mm timepiece in stainless steel and a Swiss mechanical automatic movement. Furthermore the Avantgarde bears the coveted "Swiss Made" label, one of luxury's most prestigious marks.
To celebrate the rebirth of Lebois & Co we created 3 Re-launch variations of the Avantgarde Date, each limited to 100 pieces. This last of the three variations features a midnight black dial, hand applied indexes, our signature red second hand and two genuine Buffalo leather straps. And, last but not least, an accurate and decorated Sellita SW200-1 movement visible through a transparent caseback.
The 3rd Re-launch Edition will be available as a reward in this project for € 975. After this project the retail price for this watch will be € 1800.
The history of Lebois & Co
It is 11 days before Christmas 1934 when Lebois & Co is founded by French watch manufacturer Raymond Dodane, who represents the third generation of the Dodane watchmaker family. It’s mission is clear and simple: create aesthetic and affordable Luxury Swiss timepieces.
Lebois & Co was sold to an Italian import company in 1947. The watches were still being produced and sold (mainly to Italy). The watches were made in the Dodane factory as well as by a number of Swiss watch manufacturers.
In 1972 Lebois & Co ceased production and distribution of watches and the brand disappeared from the watch industry landscape for a long time. Despite the disappearance of Lebois & Co the brand is still known today and popular with watch collectors all over the world. This beautiful 1945 Lebois & Co Chronograph sold for over $ 6,000 at Christie’s Important Watches auction in 2012. More history and older models can be found here.
Lebois & Co today
In 2014 we came across a photo of a beautiful vintage watch, a Lebois & Co Chronograph. We printed the picture of this watch and stuck it to our fridge. Being struck by the beauty of this timepiece we started our research of this unknown brand. This study lead to the re-launch of a well-respected watch brand with a rich history: Lebois & Co.
Thanks to over 120 investors in two consecutive Kickstarter campaigns (2015 and 2016) Lebois & Co is back on the wrist of watch enthusiasts around the world and it’s collection of new models grows slow but steady.
Design and prototype
The Avantgarde Date will be delivered with two genuine Buffalo leather straps; brown (cognac) and black with matching stitching.
The 3rd Re-launch Edition is fitted with the Swiss Made Sellita SW200-1 movement. The movement is decorated with Geneva stripes (Côtes de Genève), perlage, diamant cutting and blue screws. It has an automatic winding system (rotor), twenty-six (26) jewels and a power reserve of 38 hours. Being the highest grade of the SW200-1 it is adjusted in 5 positions and will run extremely accurate with an average rate of +/-4 seconds/day.
The packaging of your Avantgarde Date is something special; a uniquely designed box that consists of two compartments. In the upper compartment there is enough room for the Avantgarde Date to lay flat while two clips hold the watch in place. In the lower compartment there is room to store the additional strap, strap changing tool, operating manual and the warranty card. A black cardboard outerbox will protect this beautiful box.

Backers' public comments on previous Re-launch Editions campaigns
"A watch that can seriously compete to some of the big brands out there when it comes to finish and quality."
"I wish to thank you for the beautifully wrapped and packed watch. To open the outer postal packaging and be confronted with a stunning black wrapped box with silver ribbon was a delight. The inner display box (also black with cream lining) with watch on top layer and spare strap underneath exceeded all expectations."
"So glad to have that watch on my wrist... It is beautiful. And thank you for sharing all the steps along the way, that makes it even more special."
"I very much love the watch!"
"Tom and Eveline: what a beautifully designed and exquisitely crafted watch. I savoured the moment to open the box and it was a joy to unwrap and discover the Avantgarde with its mesmerising blue hue. Perfect with the strap. A really classy timepiece. Well done! Only one problem. I know you will be back soon with the third campaign in the series - so I am going to have to try real hard not to succumb to temptation ;)"
"My baby arrived today and I absolutely love my timepiece. Sensational job guys."
"A big thank you to both of you and your team for taking the time and energy to make this a truly successful project. I received watch #40 this Wednesday, and I agree with the other comments so far. It was a great experience finally to receive the package, to open the watchcase and see the watch for real. It looks great, feels great, and I enjoy wearing it. I’ve felt your passion about Lebois & Co and the watches all the way through the campaign, in the many updates, and certainly in the final quality product, with a personal touch and with a great attention to even the smallest details."
"The watch is exquisite. To echo others, the attention to detail on this project has been amazing. From communication to packaging, everything was flawless. Nice work Eveline and Tom!"
"I received my watch today. It's my first mechanical and I instantly fell in love with it. Everything from the watch, to the alligator strap and the great and practical box it came in is amazing. This experience has been one of the best I've had on Kickstarter. The communication has been great and the delivery was on time (which is somewhat rare on kickstarter). Would absolutely back again! Thank you and congratulations on your success!"
In The Press
2016 was Lebois & Co's debut in a printed magazine! Germany's Uhren Magazin published an article about the 1st Re-launch Edition of the Avantgarde Date.
Later, in December 2016 Watching Magazine's TimeTrends covered the story of Lebois & Co in their new series about microbrands.
Risks and challenges
As with most products, manufacturing is often subjected to delays and setbacks. We are able to minimize such issues by engaging top Swiss manufacturers trusted by major international brands. Besides that we have been preparing this Kickstarter project for the last 6 months. We implemented as much lessons-learned as possible from our previous projects.
Our team is well experienced in dealing with order fulfillment. We are going to keep our backers informed during production process. We will publish regular updates via e-mail and social media and share pictures as often as possible.
In the event of delays to milestones or reward deliveries please note they will be shared promptly and a revised schedule provided.
We will be as transparent as possible to keep everyone informed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
