We've all been there. That insatiable desire to say something to someone but it's tangled with the fear that once you do, everything will change. Or maybe there's that undying need to say something, but the minute it comes out you wish you could take it back. Well, I'm recording a new 5 song EP called "Things Better Left Unsaid" and it addresses these common feelings. This EP has a "bluesy-er" and more grooving sound than what you might be used to coming from Leah Ashton and the songs are a more current representation of where I am as a songwriter and musician. I feel that this project is the next important stepping stone in my career.
In the Spring of 2007 I was fortunate enough to be signed with Orangehaus Records which then led to the release of my self-titled EP in December of that year. The contract lasted until I graduated from college, so now I am on my own for this project, without the backing of a record label. For the last few months my band and I have been recording the songs that will be on the EP. I have all 5 songs recorded and they are now in the mixing/mastering stage, but we are currently at a standstill due to lack of funding. That's where you come in!
In order for the recorded tracks to be printed and duplicated in CD form, it will take approximately $1,100 to get a run of 1,000 CDs. The pledges I receive will basically be like a pre-order of the CD. You'll just pay for the CD in advance and get a copy as soon as they are available. There are also some cool rewards for those who want to pledge more than just the cost of the CD, but of course, any and all pledges will be much appreciated.
The EP will tentatively be released in late April, and the deadline for pledges is March 31st. The way Kickstarter works is that if my funding goal is met, at the deadline the pledges go to the project and the rewards will be distributed accordingly, but if the goal is not met, you are not obligated to pay anything, I will have a CD release concert both in Indiana and in Ohio and I would love all of you to be there to celebrate with me.
I am so grateful for the support you've provided over the last years and I can't thank you enough for your continued interest in helping me to do what I love. I couldn't do this without you.
