Lisa Gerrard and the Armello Soundtrack

Posted by League of Geeks (Creator)

With her world famous voice and composition, Lisa Gerrard is making her video game debut. Lisa is perhaps best known for her work on over forty movie soundtracks: Baraka, Heat, The Insider, Gladiator, Ali, Mission Impossible II, Whale Rider, Layer Cake and many more.

It's not often that bootstrapped indie game developers get to say they're working with an internationally acclaimed, award winning composer, let alone that this composer is actually the game's second addition, brought on to perfectly compliment the already superbly talented Michael Allen.

Lisa Gerrard's existing work has been licenced for countless movies, TV shows, commercials and games but Armello is the first game in which Lisa is involved creatively as a composer. We've been collaborating with Lisa for over two years now. Her emotional tone is very much a part of Armello.

It's worth experiencing Lisa's remarkable voice for yourself to understand why we're so excited.

Lisa Gerrard's music career started over thirty years ago as one of two members of Dead Can Dance, and she's been bringing magic to people's lives ever since. Dead Can Dance have recently finished a sold out world tour.

Lisa's work on Armello creates a very deep emotional fabric that is rarely created in games. Everyone at League of Geeks is proud of their work but we all feel honoured by Lisa Gerrard's involvement in the project. Over the last two years the LoG team's creativity and inspiration has been rejuvenated over and over again with every new piece of music that Michael, Lisa and Jacek have created. The work on the music of Armello still continues and if the mountain of work that we already have is any indication, we believe we will have one of the best game soundtracks you'll hear.

We cannot wait to share the music with you and in upcoming updates we will be proving to you how grand our vision for the Armello soundtrack really is.

If you're after the Armello Soundtrack, you can find the digital download in the $25 Listener Tier, and the physical Limited Edition Armello Soundtrack can be found in the $300 Guardian Tier. Don't forget to listen to the Armello tracks on our main Kickstarter page too!

There's a special project that needs help getting over the line. We love to tell stories and great games writing has helped shape the way we make games. If these are things you care about too, help the talented crew at Unwinnable hit their goal - with 50 hours left let's make it happen!

Another noteworthy project is Prodigy, and completely unique way of playing strategy games.

Prodigy is a fantasy tactical role-playing game, played with real figurines! No mouse, no keyboard, no controller. It's pretty exciting to see the new physical possibilities Prodigy presents for gamers, with the action played out on a reactive board using figurines and cards.

Prodigy is funded, but backers will get the chance to help build the game with their feedback during development, joining the Alpha team.

I'm sure one day you'll let backers know how she came to be involved, though obviously the spirit of the project and all your infectious enthusiasm no doubt helped!
