Help Le1f create DARK YORK, an experimental rap mixtape with a limited run of 100 copies and sustainable packaging!
I'm Le1f - a young native New Yorker, producer and performer. After years of free leaks, demos, remixes, mashups, and name changes, I'd like to complete a new release, Dark York - an electronic rap mixtape. I have been excited to make this release for quite some time. I need your help! Most record labels today aren't really looking to release gay, black, experimental hip-hop, but some projects, like mixtapes, are just better without a record deal making it rain. I am calling this project a mixtape only because of its DIY nature, and will be more like an LP, made up of mostly original music, some collaborations, and a few raps over some recognizable beats.
Dark York will be my first tangible release, with a limited run of 100 copies made. Since I am a huge advocate of green products, the packaging will be made of sustainable materials made of 100% completely recycled fibers. it's awesome! and it will be hand-decorated by yours truly. The money raised will fund these materials as well as pay for the mixing, mastering, and mailing of Dark York.
Additionally, I will be making three music videos with a few great directors and video artists like the awesome Nathan Brown and Sterling Crispin. We need a few coins to cover production fees, particularly for camera rental, some studio time, and to pay for the shipping of some crazy crazy clothes to be borrowed from UK designer Ryan Noon.
Thank you for helping me make this project come to complete fruition!
Check out my soundcloud to hear some of my music, including previous collaborations with producer/djs Harrison Schaaf and Nguzunguzu.
