About this project

THE PROJECT

I'm about to publish my first full-length novel, a YA fantasy called "Children of Aerthwheel." This book, and the material that will comprise its sequels, has captured my imagination for almost five years. Since I am an indie author and am not associated with a publishing company, I turn to you, eager readers and future backers, to help bring this novel to life.

Here's a full synopsis of the first book in the series:

"Andrew Fish is a lonely middle school student who’s lived most of his life without a mother. He's been stuck with a reclusive, emotionally absent father for nearly ten years. But Andrew's quiet world is turned upside down when he befriends Greta Del Sol, a free-spirited orphan who just moved to town with her new foster parents. Where Andrew is afraid of confrontation, Greta is well-versed in the language of the fight.

Andrew soon realizes something evil has followed Greta and is awakening behemoth creatures in the town of Little Tree. As this mysterious darkness settles into the community, Andrew begins to discover that his own family is somehow connected to the evil magic that stalks Greta. What’s worse is that Little Tree itself may be a gateway that separates two completely different realms and Andrew's secret heritage may be the key to keeping the two worlds divided.

As the boundaries of reality become paper-thin, Andrew and his friends learn that magic is real and that its mere presence is a burden that can curse entire generations. In 'Children of Aerthwheel,' the doors between light and dark have been unlocked.

And once they’re open, the world will never be the same."

Without the resources that mainstream authors might have at their disposal, I face a steep uphill battle in getting this novel into the hands of readers all over the world. Social media only goes so far; I want to get physical copies of this book into the hands of reviewers, indie booksellers, and libraries. I want to create a website that is an ongoing companion to the book and series as a whole, part of an ever-growing promotional campaign that will pave the way for future books in the series.

THE PLAN

First, your backing will go towards final editorial needs (proofing and quality checking) before the finished book is printed. It will also go towards printing copies of the book to send to book reviewers, websites, indie booksellers, and libraries.

Another portion of the backing will be dedicated to maintaining a unique web presence and marketing campaign that will include press releases, book signings, readings, and other public appearances. By backing this project, you will help breathe life into a work of art that has been lying dormant for far too long.

And finally, you'll simply be helping an indie writer worry less about bills and more about his art. If we surpass the backing goal, the anxiety and frustration of financial matters will only diminish. The more I can focus on the art, the better the end result.

Back this novel and take part in the indie revolution...be the change!
