About this project
LazyPete - Reading made comfortable.
The LazyPete holds your books for you. Just slide your books in and start reading. You can turn the pages by pulling the lever. Reading with the LazyPete offers real comfort. You can use it with either hand and in any reading position. The handle is ergonomically designed to aid comfort whilst reading. People that use it the first time are always amazed how much more easy it is to hold a book. You don´t necessarily have to hold it at the handle either. You can hold the book anywhere around the edge and it stays open.
This was actually my dad’s idea, but I took it forward and with help from other product design engineers we developed a final product that is ready for the market. All components are 100% German designed and will be manufactured by German companies. As soon as this project is successful we will begin production.
You like colours? We too!
The first batch of LazyPetes is available in six different colours with a soft touch surface. The standard version comes with polished stainless steel components; however a silver or gold plated finish can also be applied. For those diamond lovers out there, we also offer a Swarovski crystal finish, available in a range of styles.
How about hands free reading?
A collapsible dock enables hands-free use of the LazyPete. This is great for students and cooking enthusiasts who require the use of both hands for other related tasks. The dock keeps your books in sight and saves space on your desk. The best thing is that the book is held open for you!
Wet book-pages? Not anymore!
Now we need your support!
Do you have any recommendations or requests? Custom engraved names, branding for your business? We want complete customer satisfaction, so if you have any suggestions please drop us an email, tweet or comment your ideas and we try our best to make them happen.
What do you do if you get the funding?
As soon as our funding is complete, we will give our manufacturers the go to start production. First the injection mold has to be machined and then we can start to produce the ABS components.
We will order all metal parts simultaneously, so we have all required parts for assembly by april. The plan is then to assemble them and send them out to you by june. This plan is ambitious but we are confident that we can complete all orders before the end of june.
Risks and challenges
Extensive research has been undertaken to ensure that the product is 100% ready for production. Partners in Germany have been identified who will manufacture the parts and assemble it. Packaging has also been arranged and our financial plan has been supported with an accountant that sorts out all Tax issues. We are effectively ready for production. However, the injection moulds are relatively expensive and we need your help to manufacture them.
The LazyPete itself was heavily tested to ensure it works just as intended. We made many complete working prototypes and our friends and families are reading with them right now. No magic, it really works!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Not really. The steel feathers hold it in place even when the 2 arcs are disengaged. The only way it could fall out is when you hold it upside down.
We tested all kinds of books from small books for children to the big and heavy Harry Potter books. Novels and school books all work fine. Only really big books like atlases don´t work so well.
