American made denim is the best in the world. When that denim is turned into jeans by American craftsman AND it looks great on you, those are f*cking cool jeans.
We are Lawless. We don’t like to be told no. So when people say American manufacturing is dead ... we say, no it’s not. In fact, we want to make more jeans so we can hire more Americans AND make those jeans affordable.
Here’s the deal: Your pledge means we secure 100 new sewing machines so we hire 200 American craftsmen and women to make premium Selvedge denim jeans. More employees means more productivity and we can then sell jeans at a lower price.
By pledging, you will also be given the chance to purchase our small batch premium Selvedge denim jeans for just $79. For you, the price will never go up for the next five years. Sound good?
What is Selvedge? It's the denim fabric that is made on old world looms. Cone Mills denim is made in the U.S. and Japanese Selvedge denim is imported. We use this fabric to make jeans. (Need to know more? click here). Turn over your jeans at the cuff. Is there a fabric edge? Congrats, that's Selvedge denim.
This is our vibe: We have 100 year old looms and World War II era sewing machines that have been used to make quality products for over one hundred years. We are bringing back a piece of history to today, something that hasn’t happened in a long time. In a vintage building in Los Angeles and a modern store in Phoenix, American craftspeople come together every day with one thing on their mind—hand crafting jeans, purses, jackets, belts and other accessories that they can be proud of.
What we do is important, and here's WHY!
According to the Economic Policy Institute, America is losing half a million jobs to China every single year. The United States has lost a staggering 32 percent of its manufacturing jobs since the year 2000. We are passionate about denim and leather, but even more passionate about putting people to work. When the recession hit, Roman Acevedo (founder and CEO of Lawless Denim) lost 75 percent of his work force in a previous company. It was a hard thing to go through. It was even harder for him to tell his people who had been with him for 6+ years that they no longer had jobs. He struggled with that decision and decided to make a change to create more jobs. He decided to go into clothing manufacturing. Not just any clothing, but something he has loved since a kid and has its roots here in the USA: Denim. Since last year, we've been making jeans and other durable goods, and we're damn good at it.
20k - 25 new machines ($800 ea.)
40k - 38 new machines ($800 ea.) + 1 new cutting table ($6,000 ea.) + 2 new cutters ($1,500ea.)
80k - 62 new machines ($800 ea.) + 2 new cutting tables ($6,000 ea.) + 2 new cutters ($1,500 ea.) + pattern development & grading software ($15,000)
100k - 100 new sewing machines ($800 ea.) + 2 new cutting tables ($6,000 ea.) + 2 new cutters ($1,500 ea.) + pattern development & grading software ($15,000)
The total goal of 200 new employees is achieved at the 100k mark. 100 new sewing machines = 200 new employees (@ 2 work shifts 100 + 100 = 200)
We operate on the 3Ps: People, Planet, Profit.
Our People: are those of us in the USA. Our Planet: focusing on America. We can go global, but right now the focus should be our local planet (America). The Profit: for Americans. For our economy, we all can share the benefits from those who are willing to take a stake in bringing manufacturing back to the US. It's that simple. A fair price for a quality American-made good. American made does not have to mean over priced. We have done our homework, and we know the numbers. If we (Lawless) make our OUR goods and do not contract out to a factory that makes 85 percent of the jeans in the USA, we can be profitable. We can create jobs and training for those who need it the most.
You are being given a chance to be a part of American heritage manufacturing and for some of you, you will be rewarded with several gifts to choose from, including many Selvedge denim items (the best denim in the world) that typically sell for hundreds of dollars more. That’s a good deal.
LAWLESS Denim means:
1. Pride. You’ll look amazing. Seriously, when you put a quality product on your body, no matter what type of body you have, you look amazing.
2. A game changer. American craftsmen and women are put to work. We will never mass produce or farm our work out overseas, ever. We support the local economy, refine skills and create jobs.
3. Why such a low price? Well it's simple; the more we sell, the more we make, the more people we employ. We would rather move bigger quantities and a higher quality jean for a lower, more affordable price instead of trying to sell $200.00+ pair of jeans where you get what you get, with only a few benefits.
4. Exclusive. Not everyone wants to be cool, we get it. Not everyone wants to help the economy while saving a buck themselves. Understood. We think you do. No, we KNOW you do.
5. Durability Guaranteed. You will never want to wear another pair of jeans again. These will be like your fingerprint. We offer a lifetime construction warranty on all the products we make. Also, if the style or fit of the apparel ordered is not to your liking, you are able to send it back in exchange for another style or size. No questions asked.
*Note: If product is returned for an exchange, there is a chance the particular weight and style of the denim may not be available since many are limited and one-of-a-kind.
With a passion for creating garments of exceptional quality and enduring style, Lawless Denim & Co. opened its doors in October 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona offering custom-made selvedge denim jeans. As Arizona’s first denim manufacturer, we are proud to be able to say that we offer American made goods, produced right here. We want to produce a premium Cone Mills and Japanese Selvedge Denim Jeans at $79.00 a pair. You pick the denim and the style.
The Industrial Revolution was a time of innovation and economic growth based on our ability to manufacture equipment and refine skills to create jobs and provide attainable quality goods. Lawless Denim & Co. is dedicated to continuing this tradition by sourcing materials within the United States, supporting our local & national economy, and providing jobs to the people of Arizona and Los Angeles. It is our commitment to use traditional methods of handcrafting textiles to construct lasting, quality products for you to enjoy.
You make the difference.
You make the difference for a better America. In order for us to continue to increase production and output of our sought-after selvedge denim and leather goods, we must purchase additional equipment. The project will be to tool up 25 additional sewing machines and an additional cutting table. The new machines equate to putting more people to work to operate those machines and creating American jobs. Simple as that. We firmly believe in producing top-notch, handmade, American made products. We back each product with a lifetime construction warranty and each product is made right here, in America, by us.
Limited Edition Fabrics:
These are raw Selvedge denims available to you for this Kickstarter only. Once the rolls are finished, this particular weight and style may or may not be available (that's the nature of the best denim in the world). It is limited and one-of-a-kind. You can put your own choice on hold the faster you pledge.
Mens & Women's sizes available, see the fit chart below. This is true sizing so the waist is standard U.S. If you have any questions about fit, please email us at email@example.com.
Risks and challenges
What we are most proud of:
Each product we make is made by us. We are not only visionaries, but we are passionate about producing products you will be proud of too. We back each item with a lifetime construction warranty, and we source all materials right here in the good ol' USA, except for our limited addition Japanese and Turkish Selvedge Denims.
Because we make every product ourselves, with our own machinery, we are able to control every aspect of our product's quality and craftsmanship. And we wouldn't have it any other way. We're confident in our ability to produce and deliver high-quality Selvedge denim and leather products, and we're confident that once you receive your reward item(s), you'll agree too.
We don't foresee any problems with hitting our delivery date and supplying you with your beautifully handmade, American made Selvedge denim and leather products when you expect them. If for some reason we do run into any delays of any kind with production or delivery, we'll be completely transparent with you and communicate with you throughout the entire process, and that's a promise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
