any news on the status of the 4GB white???
      From Chile
      Thanks

Is there anyway to check the status of my shipment as I have not received mines as of yet . . Texas (USA)

    3. Steve Johnson on August 18, 2013

Guys yes please make binary simple settings for the device. I am also having problems switching mine off. Sometimes it vibrates and switches off and sometimes it doesn't.
I have to reset it. Then when I've left it I come back and battery is gone....
Please invent a auto power off mode, I can't use it yet as I have mac only.
      Keep up the good work...

Just writing down a few more thoughts on the mouse.

New function to connect to the last computer with a press off the top off the virtual button (scroll pad) works well. I can't understand why it doesn't just try to access the last known computer first, as the current way is an extra step and can be surprisingly annoying if you're trying to turn the mouse on and off to conserve the short 8 hours of life of the mouse.

If you haven't noticed, the usb port seems to be used solely for charging and I'm guessing it has no circuitry to interact with any other devices from the port itself. Not a bad thing, but just clarifying for anyone that didn't get that note.

The red light on the bottom for the table mouse has been put on the back end of the mouse instead of the center. If you like to move the mouse a good length across a table to navigate a screen, this may not be a problem, but if you are like me who likes having their mouse fairly sensitive to movement, you may have problems. I tend to have a habit of moving a mouse only with my wrist sometimes, so the movement is more like a turn or a pivot than a full scrolling movement across a table. Because the sensor is at the back of the mouse, pivoting the mouse creates very small and inconsistent movements of the pointer. May be a problem for people who use small movements of the hand for their mouse, but probably won't be a problem for most people.

Someone mentioned that the mouse will not work on a slanted work surface. I tried the same and came to the same conclusion. In addition to the red light checking whether or not it is on a table, it also seems to check if the mouse is level. If the mouse is on a slant, then even if it is on top of a surface, it will think that you want to use the air mouse and you won't be able to use it as a table mouse.

I'm guessing problems like the mouse thinking your hand is a surface will pop up if it doesn't check its level, so there will probably be compromise if that part is turned off. I'm still expecting settings and options for this kind of thing to pop up in the future though.

This mouse has a serious lack of settings. I really want a way to easily switch permanently between table and air mouse as well as a quick sleep or off mode. Turning the mouse on and off all the time is really annoying and the low life of the mouse really requires you to do this all the time. This is probably the main reason why I still don't use it as my main mouse. It just isn't as easy to use as a normal mouse yet.

Guess if the mac version isn't out, as I thought it would have been out last month, I'm in no rush to get my EGO!

    8. Winnafred on August 8, 2013

      Hello,

I was just wondering if you were sending out tracking numbers or whatever for the EGOs you sent out already?

Because if mine hasn't been sent yet and may not reach me til next month, I really need to change my address with you guys.

Hi guys, we're working on the Mac version and later we will start with Linux and Android. Hope everything will be released soon but it takes time.
@Steven we saw that you didn't sign up as mention in the survey, that's why it wasn't connected, Now your cloud storage should work.

I got my EGO! today, set it up on Win 7 64 bit - painless. I got it working, and I can see it has local storage. I setup my cloud account. Is there any way to tell that I have the cloud storage I signed up for? I couldn't find anything related to that on the website.

    22. Chris Bennor on July 24, 2013

Looking forward to receiving mine in the US soon. The emailed update this morning made it sound like I should already have it though.

    23. Matthias Kraus on July 24, 2013

Of course the UPS shipping info arrived in my inbox along with LS's private message just hours after I had asked about the shipping. Excellent timing on my side! :-)
I have a question now that I hold the sleek thing in my hand: in the quick guide it says one of the virtual buttons can be configured. I haven't found out how. Could anybody tell me, please?

Recieved tracking number today at 9am and package at 4pm. ^^
The Mouse looks cool. Smaller than i expected but ließ good in the hands.
The QRcode scanning is a PITA, next time I'll try to take a screenshot &Paint and zoom that stuff on white BG. Wonder if that helps.

I could not connect to the EgoCloud, I did have bad WiFi so this might have been a problem... But normally if I log in there i will get the 4gb forever free cloud?

Oh..... The "Value" of the package from UPS was 175CHF resulting in 14.- taxes. As I bought the 85£ pledge it should be 122CHF value right? For other countries with higher taxes this might be an expensive mistake.

    25. Brendan on July 22, 2013

Haven't tested yet, as use a Mac, but the mouse seems to be pretty well constructed. Hopefully a 'remember' pairing option makes it into a release soon, as that would be a pain.

    26. Missing avatar

Brock Ladd on July 22, 2013

I second Andrew's comment regarding having to use the QR code every time the mouse is powered on as being an annoyance. Personally, I would prefer an option for a more permanent pairing with the host device.

The mouse is solidly constructed and works well in both air & surface modes. I expect as the software matures, additional options for sensitivity, increased battery life (sleep mode?), and other misc. features will be added.

    27. Laura Sapiens Creator on July 22, 2013

Andrew, thanks for your review! It was very useful for us and we hope the other backers do the same after trying the Ego! Smartmouse. We are now considering your feedbacks for the next software and firmware updates. Fortunately both the device and the computer software can be easly updated and thus we would like to work with every backer to improve the interaction experience at any new release. Thanks!

    28. Laura Sapiens Creator on July 22, 2013

Matthias, your Ego! Smartmouse hasn't been delivered yet. You should receive a private message with the tracking number in the coming hours.

Also forgot to mention that the servuce pack forcefully adds folders on to the desktop which i can't seem to get rid of. I don't intend to use the cloud and i'd prefer the local memory to show up as a drive. The to folders feel a bit intrusive.

    31. Missing avatar

Andrew Yik on July 19, 2013

This mouse is a fairly good product. Very solid and feels like a high quality product. Putting the micro usb charging port is on the back and was a VERY good choice. It actually worked out really well in that position and doesn't really get in the way at all. Its a new product so the functions of the mouse are still a bit primitive.

The ego is advertised for several different applications including gaming, but that hasn't been implemented yet, but all the hardware is there to support it. There currently isn't a way to program any functions on to this mouse. I'm really hoping for at least a way to 'click' the center button that is usually on the scroll wheel of most mice since the touch surface hasn't been programmed for it. My old mouse had a 'back' button for webpages so I'd really like to see that too.

There isn't really a lot to customize at this point. There is air sensitivity and scroll sensitivity but there isn't a table mouse movement sensitivity so adjusting the sensitivity interferes with other mice I connect to my computer. There isn't anyway to play with the rumble feature, and like I mentioned before, you can't program any function on the mouse yet.

A few annoyances. The mouse requires a QR code scan EVERY TIME the mouse is turned on and it gets REALLY ANNOYING. It requires a nice plain background in order to scan so if your desktop is a picture of some sort, you may need to find a better area to move the QR code to scan.

The feet for the table mouse were a bad choice of texture. Runs horribly on a gaming mouse pad or any surface with a hard textured surface (haven't tried fabric).

When I accidentally press the center of the scroll pad, the service pack GUI pops up and is CONSTANTLY getting in the way.

It also needs a way to quickly turn off the air mouse function. I've found that after using the air mouse for a bit, I want to leave the mouse pointer at one spot and put the mouse down without completely turning it off, but it isn't possible to ever put down without moving the pointer.

There is also a slight dead zone in moving the air mouse around where a small movement won't move the pointer. I know this is intentional, but it would be nice to decrease that time a bit. It makes it very hard to do precise movements.

There's still a lot of work to do in the service pack, but overall good product. Keep up the good work!

    32. Linengray on July 18, 2013

Well it has been a month since my last post. Did not get to show off the EGO for my presentations. Hope to hear some shipping news soon.

    35. Leetcat on July 17, 2013

Really disappointing, love the mouse, just that they sent me the wrong color. Anyone else have this problem?

    39. Laura Sapiens Creator on July 17, 2013

@Leandro: the duties and taxes are different for each country and they change very often. We can't predict them and in any case we must indicate the right value of the shipped goods to avoid a fraud and a tax evasion.

@David: there is no difference. The shippings depend just from the availability (the policy is "first in first out").

@Lucas: Yes, we send a message with the tracking code before the delivering.

    40. Leandro Serrão Franco on July 16, 2013

Is ups express saver a courier type of shipment ??? That means that i have to pay the tax customs when the product is delivered in my house ??

    41. Brendan on July 16, 2013

@david there is no difference, apart from software. Hardware is cross platform.

I received a message to indicate delivery was under-way. So they're being shipped, likely in batches if it's coming from a distro hub.

[OSX] We had the announced internal meeting and it was positive. We will release the first software version for Mac within July. It will include the connection setup based on Qr-code and every pointing feature (table and air mouse, right and left click, touch scroll, virtual buttons). Furthermore we will do our best to include also the Ego! Smartmouse memory folder. Other details will follow with the next updates.

You guys did a great job all across, communication, great product, best delivery timing i ve seen so far on kickstarter (now i got to get used to "it s kickstarter it s ok to be 4 months late" again).

You really set the standard on how a kickstarter should be run.

    48. Laura Sapiens Creator on July 10, 2013

Hello Mike. The problem you are experiencing is completely independent from the operating system. From our experience, this type of difficulty may be related to various aspects. Here we would like to give you some advices in order to increase the chances of a correct reading of the QR code:
      - It is possible that the camera is not pointing correctly at the computer screen and then fails to hit the QR code. Be sure to align Smartmouse and the QR code on the screen and pointing it in a perpendicular way. Keep a distance of about 20 cm from the screen and only at this time, click, not keep press, the top button of Smartmouse.
      - If your computer monitor has a glossy finish there may be reflections on the screen that prevent the reading of the QR code by Smartmouse. Often just change the angle of the screen will fix the problem.

We remind you that the reading of the QR code is complete when "info LED" changes color from blue to orange. The Bluetooth connection is established when "info LED" turns green.
Let us know if you managed to solve the problem. If don’t, contact us at customer@laurasapiens.com .
We are delighted that Smartmouse has responded positively to your expectations.
      Thank you.

    49. Mike Baker on July 10, 2013

Just enquiring, is there a known issue with Windows 8? No matter what I try I can't get the mouse to read the QR code on the screen. I'm going to try it tomorrow on a Windows 7 system and see what result I get.
Is this worth opening a ticket for?

By the way, it's a very solid and beautiful piece of kit. A little smaller than I was expecting, but even with the setup trouble I'm far away from regretting backing you guys! ^_^

    50. Laura Sapiens Creator on July 10, 2013

[OS X] We have an internal meeting this friday to check the stage of development and to decide which features we will be released by the end of July. After that we will post the details.
