Juicies - 2011 to 2012

Posted by Laurens Laudowicz (Creator)

First of all I wanted to say Happy New Year 2012 to all of you. I am so sorry that your Juicies did not ship yet, even though it has been over 6 months now. In the beginning there were some hold ups with the manufacture for a while. But more importantly I also had to secure more funding for the final production...which I finally did!

Getting the rest of the funding together was not an easy task for me and I could have never done it without all your guy's support and without this successful Kickstarter campaign. That being said I now have a partner in Germany. My good friend Hannes R. who recently moved back to Germany after working abroad for several years, has joined me. Hannes and I wrote a full fledged business plan along with cash flow projections and future product road map. The plan along with some other materials enabled us to secure the needed funds. So while I started this project myself I am very happy to say that it is now 2 of us :-)

The total cost of this project is in the $80.000.- to $100.000.- range and the Kickstarter funding was mainly to ensure that I will have enough time to research materials and manufacturing processes so that the colorful cables aka Juicies can be made in a sustainable way. So...yes, they will be mostly made from recycled content.

Some of you had contacted me regarding the fact that "dock connector cables might be obsolete once they ship" since it has taken so long. Since the Juicies project was launched another 40 Million iPhones and some 30 Million iPods/iPads sold worldwide. I hope that this proves the opposite. The total number of compatible devices should be around 400 Million.

We got some more production samples in recently and everything is looking very good now. So please hang in there with us for another little while.

If you want to contact me feel free to send me an email or just call me directly at 808.351.2891

PS: we made sure that our cables will have the NEW longer cable neck as the cables that ship with the current iPhone 4S.

got this from another project I'm backing and there, we have the same problem like here with Laurens.. so here we go:
I would appreciate a response here in public to each of the following questions. If you decide to ignore the questions, I will continue to ask them and you will look even more foolish and uncooperative than you have shown yourselves to be to date. 1) When should we be expecting to receive the product you promised we'd already have received? 2) Why should we believe you this time? 3) Why has it taken you so long to communicate with your backers? 4) Will you be providing us with any substantive information about your progress that doesn't read like a regurgitated press release spouting vague marketing babbletalk? 5) Will you be providing dissatisfied backers with full refunds upon request?

I would love to think Laurens is going to deliver on his commitment but I fear there is little chance of that.

    3. Josh Greco on

So... Where are we at on this now?

You sir are a lying pile of $hit. I bet I have a better chance of hell freezing over than getting my juices.
Does anyone in the comments live in hawaii? I'd love love love someone to go have a chat with Laurens about where our shit is.

      Did anybody try calling him?

Update No.15 said you were already in production:
"Now to the most pressing question "where the heck are my Juicies?" well they are still in China, being manufactured as I type this." - don't know what happened there.
I understand stuff like this takes time but frankly, I just wanted a cable. Your product seemed interesting so I backed you to support your project and get a cable at the same time. I don't actually need the cable any more, I had to buy one because I couldn't wait any longer, but I paid for it so it would be great to get one. As my parents would say: "I'm not angry, I'm disappointed"
So come on buddy, sort this out!

Hey Laurens, I could understand the manufacturing problems that delayed the delivery but would have to agree with @Tony Laughton here that we feel like you pulled a "bait and switch" in terms of the actual use of this funding. With that aside, I still look forward in receiving my [yellow] cable as I still think it's a cool product. Hopefully with the time given the final delivery of them will be really great.

Along with everything else that has been said by other backers, there is still no time frame of when we can even expect our cables.

In the first paragraph you say there were "holdups in manufacture in the beginning". Then you reveal that you were never going to use the money we gave you in good faith for any manufacture and that the Kickstarter money was to just give you time to research. Well none of this was mentioned to any of us when we funded you in good faith to receive the cables.
You are either extremely naive or a scammer and frankly I'm not sure which yet, however I am leaning toward the latter.

I forgot I even ordered one of these

From his own update he only recently "wrote a full fledged business plan along with cash flow projections and future product road map." So , you didn't think to do any of this before you got the Kickstarter project going? Wouldn't that have been like, Oh, I dunno, STEP ONE!!??

I seriously think we should start individually suing this guy in small claims court. He would either have to appear or pay us back our investments (plus court costs).

"Scott Hughes about 4 hours ago

By the way. How different will a $19 Juicy be from something like this"
The difference is that's a 2-pack for $5.99 and ships immediately while this one is a single cable for $20 and is still on a 7 month old (and still counting) backorder.

    14. Matthew Bunce on

The way I've taken this update is that he has used the $22,347 of our money to fund his life over the last several months while he looked for investors. This is not what Kickstarter is about or how the project was presented.

I don't mind the wait but am finding this puzzling. I thought the point of Kickstarter was to provide the funds to find all the pledge rewards and hopefully have enough left over to continue in business. It seems worrying that you needed further funds to supply the pledge rewards?

      Anyway good luck :)

You should be offering people the option of a refund at this point and then you will see what demand is left for these cables, tbh if its costing you $100000 to make some cables in a different colour they you need much more help than a business plan
