10 reasons why you should pledge

We're biased, but we are told the folk at Kotaku aren't. When they say "I can guarantee you it'll be worth your money" people should listen!

To lend weight to their argument, they just listed 10 reasons to pledge for Divinity: Original Sin

Spread it to all your RPG friends and we'll reach the last stretch goal in no time. Or perhaps if you still have some change you want to part with, up your pledge a bit. Maybe you want to include some beta or alpha access in your pledge and become part of this cool gang. If but half our backers do that, we'll be at the last stretch goal in no time. All it takes is to click that manage your pledge button and add a little a bit on top. You will gain RPG karma ;)

Jim Sterling is a star

When Jim Sterling from Destructoid woke up this morning, he had no idea he was going to be receiving a twitter message from Larian Studios, asking him if he felt like playing Divinity:Original Sin.

When Swen Vincke from Larian Studios woke up this morning, he had no idea he was going to send a twitter message to Jim Sterling of Destructoid, asking him if he felt like playing Divinity:Original Sin.

But Jim tweeted something and Swen remembered Jim saying something about wanting to spend more attention to independent developers. So Swen tweeted and Jim tweeted back. And so the tweeting parties found themselves but a few hours later on Larian Studios' twitch TV channel and on Destructoid's front page, playing Divinity:Original Sin live in front of a very nice audience.

Chances are you missed this event, because it was literally announced the moment both gentlemen went live. But luckily for you, it was recorded. Here is Jim Sterling vs Swen Vincke. Here is the video in which you discover Jim has a grand career ahead of him as a voice actor!

Don't forget - tomorrow it's party time

      @Vinay
Sorry, haven't been checking this too often
Mainly it is the terrible quality of writing and sensationalist bs they like to post that reminds me too much of the bad side of journalism and so I generally despise them

I do not know if this is already happening, but It would be fun to have web camera streaming instead of chracter portraits. that would be cool

I noticed in the video that you can pick up oil barrels (and so probably other barrels). So I was just thinking that instead of it disappearing into hammer space it would look really cool if it got equip to your back.
You could maybe even include it in the crafting system by combining it with a pipe or tubing to spray oil (or water for a water barrel) at an area. And if the player does that combination the barrel will last for 3 uses instead of just 1.

Sounds like Jim Sterling is a fan of the Mighty Boosh.

Used to think Swen was awesome. Now move over sir. I WANT KIRILL!!!

Can I get the full (any) concert in flac???, recorded in a proper studio? or concert hall???

Will pay for that. Gaming is my time killer and love. But listening to really really great music is my passion.

As a long-time fan of the Divinity series, I've been watching this campaign since it started. It's easily the best-run Kickstarter I've seen yet, with a game clearly being made by a bunch of really talented and fun people. I finally was able to get in at the $25 level - I'm excited to make this the first project I've backed, and can't wait to play.

No matter how it ends, it's going to be awesome... but let's get that million!

I remember when playing Divine Divinity that my girlfriend suddenly came to me and said "What kind of beautiful music are you listening". Hungarians are raised with the taste for classical music. I was not, I only really like house music. But this music send chills down my spine.
I played Divine Divinity long after I played all neverwinternight editions (due to wine compatibility problems, and neverwinternights was native linux). I did not know what to expect, as I found it in the dump department at a toy store. And I started playing. Amazed by the music at every scene and the story. I soon forgot the most important thing any RPG player knows: SAVE SAVE SAVE. I am not sure how far I was, but the few hours be that l lost was enough to stop playing. The universe wouldn't feel right. In the mean time I re-bought Divine Divinity on GOG, because installing from CD again hurts.
If Larian Studios and Kiril Pokrovsky are working together again, it only can lead to something wonderful. Again. Thanks!

@Teeshy glad you got one =) (also glad that it seems others are upgrading as well, a nice win-win all the way round)

I actually pledged only because I was impressed with the Kickstarter campaign. I haven't actually played any of the Divinity games and don't plan to do it any time soon.

Norbyte did another nice effort, and stored the twitch.tv chatlog on http://weresheep.net/doku.php…

I think you should make a video about last stretch goal. It will help definitely.

@Sam, Incidentally, what's the problem with Kotaku? (Seriously, I don't follow online mags other than RPS.. I really wanna know.. :P)

    13. Sam on

While I love you guys for what you are doing any endorsement from Kotaku is more reason for me to not back you than anything.

Not changing my pledge because I can't wait for this though

@Teeshy there are 2 open go go go! =)

Great update just linked it on the GOG forums hope to kick a bit more attention your way :)

Just a suggestion, but when it'll be over, it might be a good idea to do a big reminder, stating that it'll still be possible to pledge through paypal for a while (2 weeks IIRC ?).
(I sincerely hope we won't have to rely on PayPal, though)

    18. tarasis on

Lol love the 10 reasons, particularly the first and last. You could set that up as an event to collect money for charity or optional add-on for the KS "fireball Swen from Larian for $15 a pop" :)

(I should be asleep as its 2:50am here, but I feel queasy.)

    19. Bert Geens on

I really was on the fence about going to Fanday, I mean it's next door, but I've already spent a lot on KS lately. Then I saw Kirill play (again). You win! Take my money already and see you in august!!!

    20. LordCrash on

      Nice Kotaku article! :)

This updates are really well written, guys! Whatever happens in a little less then 16 hours, it's been a pleasure!

I already had all the reason I needed ;) Now I'm just hoping someone will upgrade from the limited $65 tier so I can sneak in and grab that one - didn't have the money when I did my original pledge, but now I do and am SO bummed that I can't get in that one =P
