'Tis the Season for Awards!

Hello everybody!

Over at Larian everyone is on cloud nine now that we've won several major awards for Divinity: Original Sin!
GS: 'In 2014's best PC game, there is no greater role to play than that of yourself.'
GS: 'In 2014's best PC game, there is no greater role to play than that of yourself.'

First up is the hands down phenomenal PC Game of the Year award bestowed upon us by Gamespot. Needless to say, we're far, far over the moon! And of course we're equally proud of having been named The Bestest Best Kickstarter of 2014 by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, proving once again that Divinity: Original Sin couldn't have been made without our 21.040 backers and the incredible amount of support and feedback we received (and keep receiving) from our community!

We say it every time you start the game and we'll say it once again: YOU ROCK!

Also, our very own David went to Bilbao, Spain to receive the award for Best Role-Playing Game of 2014 at the Fun & Serious Game festival. Just don't ask him where the trophy is...

In addition to these, we've been nominated for a lot of other awards, some of which you can still vote for. So if you're convinced Original Sin should receive another award, try casting your vote over at IGN. We're already thrilled to be on their list, but obviously it'd be a complete X-mas miracle should we end up on top ;)

All well and good, but where is my hardcore mode?

Rest assured that these accolades don't make us want to kick back and rest on our laurels: quite on the contrary! We realise all too well that Original Sin is a good, but not a flawless game and a lot of effort has gone into upgrading a multitude of the game's aspects like combat, pacing, UI and main story narration. And yes, work on the hardcore mode still continues and yes, same goes for the Linux version!

It will take us some time to implement all these changes and features, but in the meantime a patch with a whole host of other fixes should be ready for you somewhere in January.

Actually, there's still a ton of stuff to talk about, so for a full overview of what we're planning for Original Sin, future projects and Larian Studios itself, head over to Swen's blog and get the scoop!

Think you can do better? Join us!

Now that Larian is expanding and going global (or at least to Canada and Russia!) we'll be on the lookout for new, talented people that want to join us in creating our own unique blend of RPG goodness. So have a look at our Jobs page and see if you fit any of our descriptions. All are welcome!

Divinity: United States

The little RPG that could, Divinity: Original Sin, began as an idea funded by the fans. From there it proceeded to a critically-acclaimed launch on Steam, and now it rolls into all major US retailers including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target just in time for Christmas.

Looking for the perfect gift for that special someone (or for an excuse to ignore your uncle's political opinions at dinner)? Look no further!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!

Have a merry Christmas, a fantastic new year and do keep playing!  To celebrate Thomas made a special extended edition of the Year in Review video in which he tried to be funny! Enjoy!

      Dear Larian,

I actually played the game just for a while until today. The reason is: I'm waiting for a linux port alll day long! I'm glad that game studios care about the mac & linux demand nowadays. But still I feel like a 2nd class since the Windows release is the only scheduled one - all the others have to wait until it's ported. Why do you do that? Please try to develope in another manner in the future: All you want to have is ONE code base that compiles on every OS out there that you want it to. The only good side: At the time the game is released on linux, I hope it will feel like a ready game and not like a beta (like windows versions after the release often do, nowadays).

I'd be happy if the linux user won't be degraded to a 2nd class in the future. You could make your fans happy with a cross platform release in the future!

I don't want to complain too much - still I'd be happy to the the port either coming soon or getting at least an update!

      So far, take care,
      cRaZy

Wow. The game is on -40% discount on Steam already when us Linux users haven't even gotten the chance to play the game. It's so ... typical, I guess. Either way we'll just keep on waiting.

Was really looking forward to the end game dungeons. Sucks it was never implemented :/

Any sort of real personal communication a dev makes with their audience is grade A excellence I'm glad for any sort of authentic communication between the two.

I enjoyed the game a lot, and so did a lot of my friends.

Well done. I can't think of anyone not more deserving.
Thanks for all your hard effort and devotion.

      Congratulations.

Hopefully the two projects that you have in the works will make their way to Kickstarter too. Original Sin was definitely one of my three favorite projects to back. The letters in my name should say it all.

Fantastic Larians! I love your studio and all of your heartblood and soul, you put in your games - and - I have bought every game from you more than once (steam, gog, directly from you, retail...). After Westwood studios has gone down because of being inhalated by EA, you are one of the last true and authentic studios, which is absolutely worth to support. I am very proud to be one of the D:OS backers from first minute on. Keep up your fantastic work - and merry Xmas and a lucky, successful new 2015!!! - Greetings from austria!!!

Keep it up via Kickstarter. I really think that has helped fan the flames and get people talking about your game. Also, all your videos make a difference too. I'm sure you and your teams charisma in the vids and writing are another factor.

It's also cool to hear you are hiring near me in Quebec (I'm just across the border), so perhaps this means some of you may visit the area and perhaps even some of the gamer events up here.

I hope all this success and positive news continues for years to come.

It's great that you're still working so hard on Original Sin!

But... I guess no one is working on Dragon Commander anymore, or ever again?

I'm so happy to see your success, you are the only dev company who always can give me the motivation to go on with my studies. And Bruce Lee..

I agree with all those awards and the "Best Kickstarter of 2014" (well, I might have to think a bit if it really was THE BEST as there were a couple of good ones, but surely D:OS is in the top 5). You deserve it. Great game, one of the best in 2014.

I'm glad you are investing your money wisely. But beware that opening a part of your company in another country brings more problems than it's eventually worth (timezones and distance / communication problems).
I can see that the things you did in the video was for show, but IMHO the core of it, the lead man running around every single day to get a short status report is exactly what needs to happen when _I_ want to get motivated at a job.

Congratulations! This is one game that really surprised me this year. While I was hoping for the best from you guys, you exceeded and flew way past all of my expectations!

      This is well deserved :)

Your kickstarter was amazing, continuous communication and on top of that you blew my expectations out of the water. Well done and well deserved - did you know you won the quiet achiever award on Australia's biggest gaming to show Good Game?
